I feel sorry for James Jones, the last hour of this podcast was painful.

Forgot to ask. What song is at the begining?  It's pretty groovy in a hillbilly sort of way.

The MagicCast made me get out my old magic cards and go find somebody to play with! It was awesome to play again

I'm not finished listening to the MTGcast, but it's more entertaining than I had feared. Wonder if it makes any sense if you've never played before.

OK, I can understand "This Magic Moment" in the opening, but not running "Let's Tap" at some point in the MagicCast is just criminal.

The game took a while to get going since Jonny had to explain everything to Karl and I.

I've never played. Still found it entertaining.  Made me curious, but despite everyone saying it was not that difficult to learn it seemed very confusing.

When you listen to all three of the other podcasts, though, the MTGcast is a must listen as a side-quest to the main adventure that fills in some character detail...

I never played Magic, but I played BattleTech a little bit in 8th or 9th grade. (Magic was too trendy; what can I say?) The basics sound pretty much the same.

I was deep into Pokemon cards in high school (wassup, Karl?!) and even won two badges in a local league before Yu-Gi-Oh took over.

After realizing that Pokemon cards take up a lot of space, I threw them all out except for the foil cards and one of each other card, then put 'em all in a binder. I look through it from time to time and reminice, then wince when I consider how much money I blew on Pokemon cards.

(and still do--I look through the random cards in comic shops to this day, looking for the few foils I still desire*)

Glad you guys had fun recording the podcast because the finished product was pretty much a train wreck.  ;D

I've said it before: Obi bolds too much.

The Magic-cast is making me really want to try MTG. There's a Live Arcade game for it isn't there?

Yeah, I think there are two -- the first is some kind of action game, but the more recent one is actually based on the cards. I've heard it's a very good adaptation despite losing some of the collecting aspects (since new card sets are not released for it). My guess is that it's a good, cheap way to sample the game's strategies, and if you are intrigued, you can take the plunge into physical cards or Magic Online, which has all the real cards (at least up to five years ago).

I really  need to know. What is the song used to que in and close out the drunkcast? I love it but I don't know what it is.

I do believe my favorite part of the while show is when Karl had a freudian slip and said sexmo instead of techmo. I lost it.  How did James survive this beautiful mess?

I just listened to this the other day. I strongly disagree with the claim that Magic: The Gathering is less complicated than Yu-Gi-Oh!. I admit that I haven't play YGO in about 3 years, but at that point in time YGO was extremely easy to get into, MTG pretty much requires someone to teach you even the basics.
