That was such a great magazine, I never got around to subscribing but I think I bought all but a few of them at the newsstand.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Guitar Hero coming to Wii!
« on: September 20, 2007, 01:05:37 PM »
It's overrated but it's still a great game. And I never really liked DDR but I love what I've played of Guitar Hero. I think the reasons for that are 1. I'm not that good at DDR, and, while I'm also not that good at Guitat Hero, I'm much less not good, and 2. I find the song selection in Guitar Hero to be infinitely better than that of DDR (and that might be one of the causes of the first thing I mentioned).

That is absolutely right. I really wish Nintendo would make a game like that, maybe as something that wouldn't take as long, using the Galaxy engine, for next year, which apparently doesn't have any games at all, at least according to some people.

Assuming I'm able to get a 360 I will be getting either this or Rock Band for that, depending on the final track list, because downloadable extra songs are definitely coming to those, as opposed to only being a chance on the Wii, and space isn't as much of an issue with a hard drive than the current setup on the Wii. Actually, if Nintendo confirms a hard drive is coming and Activision confirms the Wii will get downloadable content I'll get GH3 for the Wii, because I don't care about the drums or vocals aspects of Rock Band.

I hope they don't change much, the magazine improved dramatically over the past few years and I don't want them to screw that up.

How it's oriented shouldn't be too much of a problem, play Kororinpa if you doubt how sensitive and accurate the sensors in the Wiimote are. The where is something else altogether, they'd probably just have to make a guess based on the movement. This is a concept for a Wii game I've wanted to see for a long time and Lucasarts is a quality developer. All we can do at this point is hope.

Thanks. I figured if I'm going to be demanding an Escape Velocity for the DS I might as well go all out for it. I know it will never happen, but I can dream.  And the Starbridge, while the icon of the game, looks cool and is a great balance between cargo capacity and firepower without sacrificing the speed like you would if you captured an IDA Frigate (as if that's possible at that point in the game).

I think this is a case where cautious optimism is the way to go. We haven't even seen a screenshot yet, let alone a playable demo, so let's not rush to judgment.

I would think if the whole point of the Wii version is the lightsaber combat they might focus more on that and less on the physics. You're assuming that they're trying to do the exact same missions with the exact same objectives except on the Wii. Did it ever occur to you that they may be following the same story from a different angle? Lucasarts isn't known for shoddy work, and even if the Wii game is just a modified PS2 game wouldn't they have made similar modifications to the PS2 game due to its hardware inadequacies?

TalkBack / RE: EA Ships MySims for Wii and DS

I was always much more of a fan of building and customization than the socialization in The Sims anyway, so this is sounding great to me. I really wish they'd been able to put WiFi in the Wii version, though.

Why is everyone worried about finding people to play? I just figured I'd get all you guys's codes and kick all your asses.

17613
The game is also coming to the PS2 and DS, and can we at least wait until we get a single preview before saying the game is dumbed down or the controls are horrible?

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Wii repairs

My friend couldn't find a Wii until May, and then when he got one that happened to him. He got great service and got it back quick, so at least he got that. I believe he has WC24 enabled and it hasn't caused him any troubles since.

Actually it sounds as if the game speed it adjusted to lag, I hope that it doesn't fluctuate to much during the match... I'd rather it be consistent.

Well it would be ludicrous to believe that light speed is too slow.

I do think that as long as the speed stays about the same throughout the match, even if it's a little slower than usual, that it will still work.

Yes it is. Take a closer look at the second screen shot. Next to ENTER FRIEND CODE is 0000-0000-0000. 12 digits, not the 16 that a system code has.

If you think of your opponent as a simple scarecrow, any psychological barriers may melt away.

Sakurai just won the English language, that was the greatest sentence ever conceived.

And it comes in a blog post on a Tuesday, I wouldn't have guessed that. No warning, no sign, no anything. Oh well.

This settles one of the biggest arguments regarding this game. I know for a fact money is changing hands because of wagers about this. I think the taunting system is about as good as you can get without full-on voice chat. I am certain there will be complaints about no records for random play, because that is the last thing even remotely negative about the game that I can see. This game is going to be one for the ages, one of the best all time, and I can't wait. Super Mario Galaxy is still going to be better.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Official "Virtual Console Mondays" Thread
« on: September 17, 2007, 07:46:41 PM »
I'd really like to have specific channels, sort of used as folders, for each console on the VC. That way I could divide the games up that way, solving (at least for a while) the problem of running out of channels. Also, for what must be the billionth time, I demand a hard drive, support for a USB hard drive, or support for booting channels off the SD card.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: VC game reviews here?
« on: September 17, 2007, 07:38:04 PM »
A good site I've found for VC reviews is http://www.vc-reviews.com/ . They give a few paragraphs of review text and rate the games on a 1-5 scale. And unlike a certain Nintendo site I visit regularly, their VC reviews go up quickly after the games appear on the Wii Shop .

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Whatever happened to online?
« on: September 17, 2007, 06:52:57 PM »
Wasn't Jump Ultimate Stars or whatever it's called online on the DS? Didn't people love that game? Smash isn't anywhere close to a standard fighting game, so maybe the problems that plague other online fighters wouldn't be a factor.

Umbrella Chronicles takes you through five main areas of the Resident Evil world, starting with zero, moving on through the mansion incident in the original RE, then progressing to Raccoon City in RE2, diving even deeper into the Nemesis storyline with RE3, and finishing with a new area based on the Umbrella HQ.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Worms for the DS

I've never played a Worms game, but I've always wanted to try it. I may pick this game up.

On a side note, Infernal Monkey, what didn't you like about Picross's touch controls? They're much quicker than buttons, and while I fill the wrong square once in a while, I see that and correct it.
