Figures...

Don't worry about it Smash_Brother. I had a similar moment in the desert dungeon of TP. It happens to us all. I just hope that you can enjoy the game now that you know how to pass that battle. I don't like to lose any of my characters either. Its part of the reason I never beat either of the GBA FE games. The GBA are much harder than PoR IMO. They still were well worth the purchase though.

BTW Silverwings, the mage-girl is Sothes' step sister. I believe she is the lord in this FE. Her name is Micaiah from what I've been able to find out.

It seems that you are forgetting about the $60 to $80 N64 games Golden. Saturn and PS games were $50.

Problem is the PSP software sales blow. 360 games are constantly amongst the best sellers on the US sales charts. That is very impressive, especially considering how the PS2 has a MUCH larger userbase.

Yeah the laguz are fighting General Zelgius of Begnion and his army. There is a new wolf type of laguz as well. Sothe and his step sister, who seems to be the lord in this FE, Micaiah are from Daein. My guess is that Begnion is trying to annex Daein in its weakened state. Since Sothe and his sister are from Daein, they are probably trying to gain Daein's independence for the Begnion Empire and rebuild their shattered homeland. Supposedly, Elincia is playable as well. This is what leads me to believe that Begnion has probably over stepped their bounds in Daein. Hopefully, we can find out who the Black Knight is. A lot of players thought he was Zelgius. Maybe we will find out for certain in Goddess of Dawn.

And to the smart one who said its not an FPS, i said it's halo repackaged alittle different, and you best believe it plays like an FPS, if you don't think so then you might as well go graze in the field with the other sheep who don't know better

It's a TPS, like jet force, but devoid completely of any platforming, power-ups, side quests, you know anything to add to a game other then basically shooting, which defines a shooter, although they display more polygons of you character then just his gun and hand, don't be fooled into thinking its anything else then a repackaged FPS

Now if you excuse me, i'm going to go look at the BLOOD from my CHAINSAW, yeah awesome, greatest use of the chainsaw EVER. Bitchin'.

So in other words you were wrong but instead of admitting it, you resort to name calling. It doesn't matter what Gears of War plays like it is still a TPS. Its a shooter with a Third Person perspective. That makes it an TPS. That has nothing to do with the games play style. Just because you don't like how a gameplays doesn't change its genre.

Who ever said gears sucks is dead on. It is another shooter. I was lured by comparisions to resident evil 4, which is on of my favorite games for this past generation, so much so that i replayed it quite a bit. It is really nothing like RE4, so as you can imagine i was crushed, then i was raging pissed.

Its halo, repackaged with a roll and a cover system, right down to the regening health. They couldn't even give you kits or something with multiplayer, its hunt for your guns by playing the map halo style, and you use positive renforcement to revive fallen teammmates. COME'ON DOM IT'S ONLY A FLESH WOUND! Bitch'in, really...

My final synopsis:

If a game is selling like crazy and is not:

1) made by nintendo
2) called the sims: insert expansion name
3) GTA
4) WOW

Then odds are its an FPS, because that seems to be what casual gamers like. Seriously, no long winded story, or complicated controls, or great technical gameplay (on the competitve side). Just jump in and shoot sh*t. Easy to jump into, and easy to jump out of. I think thats the real route of casual gaming, unless the wii can change things. I've become bitter with FPS's after battle filed 2142, so i can't stand gears at all. Cheers to those who can, but i still say, at least in the U.S., that FPS have become the common man's game.

Problem is Gears of War isn't an FPS.

I never had the dislike of Matt that others seemed to have. I appreciated the fact IGN's Nintendo channels gave us reliable reviews, outlooks, etc. I like the fact that Matt never blindly followed Nintendo. While, I haven't always agreed on his views I appreciated the fact that his opinions were honest. I never saw a fiasco like the WWF RAW for X-box score on the Gamecube channel.

The 360 premium model will hit $200 by holiday 2008. MS will be able to sell the premium 360 for a profit at $300 this year. They could have sold the premium 360 for a profit at $350 this past holiday season, but with the PS3's ridiculos price they didn't have to. Sony cost a lot of people money last year because both the Wii and 360 would have been cheaper if the PS3 was reasonably priced.

As for the PS3, I couldn't tell you. The way the PS3 is constructed its going to be much harder for Sony to bring down its costs. They are losing well over $200 on the $600 model right now. I mean, for comparison purposes, if the MS would have launched the 360 at $600. They would have been selling it for at a profit. That tells you how bad of a pickle Sony has put themselves in. I mean they may be able to get it down toe $200 by 2009 but it would still be selling at a small loss most likely.

The formulaic addition of Knuckle's/Rouge's scavenger hunts and the plodding platforming of Tails/Robotnik basically veered away from the REASON people played Sonic games in the first place.

I'm not sure why Sonic Heroes was poorly received, only that it was almost universally hated. I suspect that spreading the development resources thin across three consoles hindered the game (it always does).

Actually Sonic Heroes was developed as a Gamecube exclusive initially and then it was changed to multiplatform. Thats why the Gamecube looks and runs the best. The PS2 version looked and ran horribly.

My brother got a PS3 the other day. So I'm starting to wonder how in demand they truly are. I am hearing to many stories of people picking them up. Then you can find a few on Ebay that are actually below cost. I mean the system has one game at the moment. I still think its stupid for them to include Talladega Nights with the system but not include component or HDMI cables. Not a good way to show off Blu-Ray to the average consumer IMO.

but here is a fact.when you compare the ps2 to GC or xbox the diference its notable but not outstanding.examples.soul calibur 2,the splinter cell series, metal gear solid series and so on,thats because the technical specs from each console are not too separate, xbox 700 processor 64 ram,GC 485 processor 24 ram,ps2 300 processor 32 ram.

to the point.
in this next gen wars we see that nintendo took the gameplay over graphics aproach, but i think the wii specs are too weak compared to the competition.that means that we can see a good game play well on the xbox and the ps2,but not potentially on the ps3 or 360 to play on wii, examples far cry, call of duty.this games look way too crappy on the wii,and this is just the beggining,as well as the wii development improves so the ps3 and 360's.

the point i see is that maybe third parties would dump wii in the long run for the "more powerfull machines".

i think if nintendo at least got a 1ghz processor and 256 ram, that would do as a last gen ps2 compared to the competition, the way i see is that the wii stand as a nintendo 64 compared to a ps2 and xbox.

by the way this is not a nintendo bashing thread,im a nintendo fan since i can remember.

later dudes.

Well the Gamecube had a total of 40mbs of RAM (24MB main, 16MB Auxilary), but thats not why I'm responding to your post. The reason most Wii games look like Cube games is because they are. A lot of company's just took GC titles and brought them over to the Wii with motion control. In Ubisoft's case everything thing they've released on the Wii is horribly rushed or a GC game with tacked on controls. Far Cry for Wii would be terrible looking for a Dreamcast game. I swear Far Cry for Wii began development 3 months ago. I mean there just isnt an excuse for a game to look that horrible. I mean honestly the only game that looks like it may have been developed with the Wii in mind from the beginning is Excite Truck.

I think the fact that the Wii is powered by an upgraded Gamecube chipset is going to allow a lot of lazy developers to continue to use current gen graphics engines for Wii. I seriously doubt you'll see EA develop all new graphics engines for their Wii titles. Ubisoft has severly disappointed me with their shovelware. Sadly most developers never even took at vantage of the GC chipset so we are going to end up with a lof PS2 port based game engines.

Unfortunately that means Wii owners are going to end up with a lot shoddy, cash in, shovelwave titles with a PS2 (or worse) level of graphic detail. The only good thing I can see coming from this is that the Wii will get a lot more game titles overall. So when you see a game that looks and plays head and shoulders above the rest. Buy it. Support developers that actually develop games that not only take advantage of the Wii-mote but he improved hardware as well. At the absolute worst, Wii titles should look like RE4, MP2, Chronicles of Riddick (Xbox), Halo 2 (Xbox), etc.

Lets hope the better than expected Wii sales will prompt developers to actually put some work into their Wii titles. Although I know it won't be read by them, I will say it anyway. Ubisoft, I know you all are desperate to make money to stave off an EA hostile takeover. That said, resorting to EA style rush job ports isn't the way to do it. I much rather have played Red Steel in February and Far Cry in June if would have meant you guys actually finished the games.

Wow. Double post. I just realized that there is no delete option on this forum. Hm...guess I'll make use of it. Worldwide sales of the Wii are approximately 1.8 million. The Wii is currently outselling the PS3 3 to 1. The PS3 has just under 600,000 units sold. Which gives it less than a tenth of the 360s userbase. In other words, Sony is pretty much screwed.

Then I unfortunately predict a steady decline for Nintendo.  The Wii will have been a huge success probably doubling the Gamecube sales in just one year, and 3rd parties will continue to make games for the system, but it just won't be as steady of sales for Wii for the rest of its lifecycle.

I hope I am wrong...but that is my realistic prediction.

As for all this Dragon Ball Z talk.  I hate the show.  It takes way too long to tell a single story...with a single fight taking 5-10 episodes (slight exaggeration) and the english voices and narrator is annoying and obnixious.

However, I really want to try this Dragon Ball Z game out.  Is it good with the Wii controller?  better with the classic?

And after you answer this question...please let this thread go back to Sales.

The game controls fine with the Wii mote and Nunchuk. It just take a while to get used to. I missed around with the classic controller, to be honest it was easier to pick up (although the lack of any details of how to use conventional controls in the manual was annoying). That said, its not as fun. It something about pulling back your Wii-mote and pushing it forward to hurl a Kamehaha or other energy wave attack that is just satisfying. Sticking with the Wii-mote pays off IMO.

As for DBZ, yeah I can see why the anime could be hated. Toei stretched out the fights, added in pointless filler episodes, etc. The manga is much better. There is now way DBZ should be 290+ episodes. It should be half that amount. Toei was just stretching it out to make more cash. Dragonball GT is completely made up. There is no manga. Toei created that crap to squeeze even more money out of the Dragon Ball license.

As for the original voice actors for the English dub, outside of Goku I think they original cast was better as well. I don't share hatred of the second voice over crew that some of you do though.

If Square Enix needs more than the 9.4 GBs that DVD9 provides, they can just do what Mistwalker did with Blue Dragon on 360. Blue Dragon is on 3 DVDs thanks to all the HD FMV. I really haven't seen much use for FMV since the Dreamcast, with the new consoles it just seems even more pointless. That said, I'm still looking forward to Blue Dragon, and rpg from the 3 of the major people behind Chrono Trigger is most likely excellent.

I personally can't stand Goku or Gohan's Japanese Voice Acting. Its obvious that they are voiced by women.

I think it depends on what was the first voice people heard Goku with.  I notice alot of people who first saw DBZ through the dub where Goku had a manly voice can't stand his original Japanese voice.  But for people like me who heard Goku's original voice before ever seeing the dub, Masako Nozawa IS Goku.  She's done his voice from the very begining back when Dragon Ball first air back in 1986 and has matched Goku and his personality perfectly.

To listen to Goku without her voice to me would be like listening to Homer without Dan Castellaneta voicing him, it just doesn't sound right.

Thats not the case with me. I just plain don't like male characters sounding like women. Well, if its for comedic effect its fine but I find it grating otherwise. Seriously can't stand the sucked on helium voice Goku has in the Japanese voice tracks. I didn't even like how high pitched Goku's voice was in the Ocean original English dub of season one. It didn't bother me with Gohan until the Buu Saga.

Of course DBZ got less enjoyable to me as it went through each saga. My two favorite characters are Piccolo and Ten Shin Han. Ten Shin Han is pretty much worthless from the beginning of DBZ and Piccolo's last hurrah was during the Cell Saga. Not to mention the fact that Gohan's character seemed to get the shaft after the Cell Saga. I seriously think Toriyama altered his out come for DBZ because of the Japanese hatred of Gohan. I know he originally intended to end DBZ with the Goku vs. Frieza battle but continued to produce the manga because of the rabid fan base. In DBZ it seems that Toriyama was slowly trying to hand off the reigns from Goku to Gohan over time but he seemed to bend to the will of the fans but that is another topic completely. Jeez sorry for the rant guys.

Okay something Wii related. In Europe DBZ: BT2 is getting 6 new characters and 1 new background. Also 105,000 Wii's were sold in the UK.
