I was just going to go with this villager that the forum has handily provided. It's nice and generic, just the way I like 'em. But if that's not an option, I'll go with Octavian

So I finally go into this game. I really am loving it. Feels like new things keep getting introduced or, more often than not, I stumble upon the new features before the game has a chance to explain them to me.

How long, in real time, do days last, and how big are the dungeons?

Hey all, looking forward to playing with everyone again!

EDIT: Are you fucking kidding me? They displayed HD and SD content on a CRT television. THEY LOOK THE FUCKING SAME.

No, they displayed SD content to both groups, but told one group that it was HD: said group believed it. That's...kind of the point.

Wrong. The average person can definitely tell the difference. And they can definitely tell the difference between SD and HD. Especially if you have them side by side. Casuals are blind, they'll be able to tell the difference.

I won't put words in his mouth, but I believe Mannypon is referring to studies such as this

http://www.coolest-gadgets.com/20091014/study-shows-people-difference-hd/

which largely imply otherwise. I fully confess that, unless the TV is fairly large, I myself usually can't tell the difference unless they're side by side (which they won't be for most folks who're playing videogames!).

Yeah because god forbid the WiiU gets a damn timed exclusive for once.  First Rayman and now this.  3rd parties just keep amazing me.  Probably loading up more ammo for the "our games don't sell on WiiU" pistol.

Look at it this way: it's no longer a two-year-late port, but a contemporaneous multi-plat update to a good game!

3D World, perhaps, although I suspect that has more to do with artstyle than anything. Smash? Eh, I'm less convinced.

Deus Ex -- why was this delayed again?

So it can release along the just-announced 360/PS3 versions, in all likelihood.

34
Strangely enough, not really. Or rather, not strongly. I will probably be picking it up at some point, though.

Pretty much shows how full of **** most third parties are when they say the Wii U isn't powerful enough to handle the games they're making.

Has anyone actually said that? The closest I recall is some engine developers (Epic et al.) saying their engines needed the extra oomph, but I don't recall off the top of my head any developers saying anything similar.

After having some time for it to sink in, I actually like every game I've seen. My main problem now is lack of variety. I love platformers, but there are just too many now. Or at least, not enough other stuff. Either way you want to look at it, Nintendo's lineup lacks some variety.

I'll mostly agree with this part (still not a beat-em-up fan, so I can leave Bayonetta in particular, and only Batman excited me in the third-party section). I'm not super-concerned yet about the lack of variety, but if it's semi-fair to accuse the other systems of focusing too much on shooters, it's equally fair to accuse the Wii U of being too platformer-heavy.

37
I haven't bought the system yet, and likely won't for a while, but when I do there'll be about ten retail games waiting for me, so I'm not too fussed.

For the record, it'll probably be X that makes me buy the system.

They can call it whatever the hell they want. Just don't call it delayed

I thought the Direct was fine. I wasn't expecting any surprises, but the games I was interested in still look interesting, I'm looking forward to another DKCR, and I know for sure now that I won't have to rush to buy a Wii U anytime soon. That last part may not be what Nintendo wants to hear, but it's a blessing for my schedule, anyways.

Why?

Because you didn't buy three copies last year.

I recall that point being brought up now and again.

So FIFA 14 is apparently coming to Nintendo after all...on Wii and 3DS.

Sigh...unprecedented partnership.

Can you name such a    partnership   happening before?  :P:

you could say a similar thing about E.T. on atari

Necessary =/= sufficient. :P

Although for once in my life I'm not talking completely out of my ass: the Iwata Asks on Spirit Tracks talks about how the format of Majora's Mask was largely shaped by having only a year to work on the title.

What I find odd is that Aonuma's first effort was Majora's Mask, which is easily the most creative Zelda game since Ocarina of Time.  It is the titles that came after that, while still good, seemed too formulaic or relied on a gimmick that didn't really add much.  So is Aonuma at fault or was he given less control after MM and has had to deal with more interference from his superiors?  It seems odd that if his hands were not tied that he would go for broke on his first game and then become conservative.

You need pressure to make a diamond. He had one year to make a whole game, so cranking out another Ocarina of Time wasn't feasible, and thus the time limit was born. After that though he's had all the time in the world to work on the games.

no way sony can come in cheaper than this, right? 8gb gddr5 ram? $499.99 ps4?

Depends on how much Kinect cost, and how much of a loss Sony is willing to take per unit, I'd imagine.

I guess adding Wind Waker makes sense, since those are the four titles that are closest to release, but I kind of figured they'd pick a more "showcase" title, like the new Mario or some such, to try to woo new customers. Although conversely, I guess Wind Waker will probably be one of the prettiest titles ever...

I haven't really thought about it, but there are actually a lot of games in that list that I'm interested in, and will probably be picking up.

Ya know, I still haven't got the foggiest idea what Skullgirls even is...

The idea that Nintendo should join TGS is an interesting one, but I think they're banking more on Nintendo Direct doing that job for them (wisely or not). Shoot, they're somewhat pulling back their E3 presence, so putting more skin in the game seems unlikely. As for the lack of Wii U advertisements in Japan, don't feel too bad: they're not advertising that thing anywhere!
