Get game publishers to support Progressive Scan mode!
« on: June 15, 2003, 03:03:27 PM »
I have a task for all you Nintendo GameCube owners out there. The time has come for major developers to start supporting Progressive Scan on ALL, not most, ALL GameCube games. Progressive Scan is easy to implement on GameCube (with a few rare exceptions) and there should be no excuse for omitting this. Pretty much 99% of all Xbox games support the Progressive Scan, it's time for GameCube to have the same support!

So here is what you need to do. You need to email all the major game publishers and tell them you want them to support the Progressive Scan on GC. Also sign my petition!

Here's a list of the biggest game publishers:

Electronic Arts
Vivendi Universal
Atari/Infogrames
Capcom
Sega
Acclaim
Ubi Soft
Midway
LucasArts
Konami
Interplay
Eidos

I have a 12 inch TV screen with a bunch of scratches all over the screen.  The TV doesn't have RCA inputs, so I have to run the RCA signal through a busted old VCR before sending it via coax to the TV.  I have to fight with the coax running out of the back of the TV for half an hour just to get the fuzz off of the screen, and half the time I just figure it's not worth it, and play with a fuzzy, flickering screen.

Do you really think I could care less if your picture quality is just a *little* bit worse than it could be?  I ain't signing no damn petition.  (unless you give me )

Progressive Scan makes a huge difference and all games should support it. Anyway, petitions don't work and this topic will get locked.

"Dear Konami, I'm very much interested in purchasing your quality GameCube games. Mickey's Super Fun Time Football got me breaking into a cold sweat. But I was very sad to hear it doesn't support Progressive Scan, even though Progressive Scan is cut out of the European GameCube's. So sad, I cried. I refuse to buy any of your future games like Mickey Counts to Seven and Goofy's Bum Pick-a-thon. Please include this option so I can pretend I can use it, thanks"

And there's way more Xbox games that support Dolby Digital 5.1 versus any form of Pro Logic support on the Cube. On the list, EA is the biggest supporter of Pro Logic II, progressive scan, and 16:9 mode. Sega's also a pretty big supporter. At the moment, most bigger releases get the Pro Logic II/progressive scan support, which i don't mind.

More developers will adopt the technologies over time, just be patient.

Indeed.

And Eternal Darkness should be re-released with DivX support.  But I'm just dreaming.
