Nintendo Gaming / Miyamoto and I both have a favorite Mario game
« on: November 12, 2010, 02:00:42 AM »
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gamehunters/post/2010/11/qa-mario-creator-shigeru-miyamoto/1

And it's Super Mario World. SUCK ON THAT MARIO 3.

I still love Mario 3, but Yoshi >>>>> everything.

...How many times do people have to ask Miyamoto on how Mario wasn't originally a plumber?

Nintendo Gaming / Pilotwings 3DS
« on: July 07, 2010, 01:09:02 AM »
I was absolutely ashamed that there was no (at least on the top page) thread for Pilotwings 3DS. Pilotwings 64 is one of my favorite N64 games, and the fact it's getting a sequal and being set on Wuhu Island makes my nine year old inner child have glee spasms.

Nintendo Fall Conference, move your ass and get here sooner. Now.

Nintendo Gaming / X-Scape (DSiWare)
« on: June 01, 2010, 01:42:19 PM »
I am addicted to X-Scape.

I seriously don't know why. Maybe it's the fact that it's a remake of a game we never got for the Game Boy all those years ago. Or maybe it's because it shits all over Star Fox Command.

Yes, a DSiWare title shitting on SF: Command. Shocking, I know.

Also, use button config. Touch screen controls are ass.

Because YouTube isn't the only place human beings half breed mutants trolling anti-nintendo fanwankery exist!

From GameHACKs (with Peachylala branded comments in bold-ness for added snark):

Quote
Mario wants to fly,and is dissapointed that he can't fly, so he tries  to fly and he completely forgets that he could fly in SM64.Mario is  stupid.

That made NO sense.
Because our imaginations make no sense but apparently Nintendo's imagination is free game? NOW THAT MADE SENSE.

Red Dead Redemption.

Please guys, hear me out.

Redemption  will live in your 360/PS3 for MONTHS to come. The game is ALWAYS  different. ALWAYS random. ANYTHING can happen, and EVERYTHING will  happen. Caps is for cool people btw.
Let's also put this in Caps too: MANY OTHER COMPANIES THOUGHT THE SAME THING. THEY WENT BANKRUPT.

NWR Forums Discord / MGS: Beach Walking Sexy Fun Time
« on: May 05, 2010, 02:31:25 PM »
So... Peace Walker. Yeah, I think I made a thread about this game that has been lurking in the depths of NWR somewhere, and the game has somehow made me consider getting a PSP for this game... kind of. Hell, even Kojima-san says you will like it. His attitude towads it has been better then MGS4, and that's saying alot.

Then this came along.

Because when I think of Big Boss, I either think of him frockling around with a SIXTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL in her undergarments or taking pictures of a speedo-clad Kaz doing poses.

NWR Forums Discord / IGNorant Guessing is always good fun!
« on: April 04, 2010, 11:57:04 PM »
Any game on the Wii that is good automatically get a -0.5 deduction. Non-HD is also an automatic -0.5 deduction.

Anything else can go to -0.1 to -1.5. These elements can be various.

Revised guess for Super Mario Galaxy 2: 7.6

DEDUCTIONS:
- Same game 0.2
- No online play 0.5
- No voice acting 0.5

EDIT: Thread title changed.

NWR Forums Discord / 2000 reasons you are still a Nintendo fan
« on: December 11, 2009, 01:42:18 PM »
Here's a fun little game I discovered on another forum.

This 2000 reasons game is very simple. With me starting at 2000, I post on-topic (hur) and random reasons. The next user, for example, starts at the next number. If I stopped at 1998, the user continues at 1997.

Will we ever get to 1? ...NO.

2000 reasons you are still a Nintendo fan:

2000) You basically complain about Yoshi needing his own Wii game.

1999) Somehow you have more common sense then the CEO of EA games.

1998) You can recite all the meme worthy lines from Star Fox 64.

1997) You have nightmares of the cringe-worthy fan fiction that was in the turd called Star Fox Command.

General Gaming / Final Fantasy
« on: October 13, 2009, 11:26:44 PM »
Exactly what it says on the topic link. A thread about Final Fantasy and the good/mediocre/bad spin-offs it seems to produce. Also would be a good thread for Final Fantasy XIII and wonder how stupid it will be since Tetsuya Nomura is on the project.

I also think FFIX is the most under-rated game ever. Flawed? Yes. But it had the same charm that the SNES games had. And Vivi. Gotta love Vivi.

Nintendo Gaming / Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days
« on: September 30, 2009, 12:23:49 PM »
So having bought Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, despite the fact I have vocalized my dislike for the main entries in the franchise (I kind of liked KH2, kind of), it changes some things up from the main games but gives it a unique feel so it doesn’t feel like KH ver. DS. My impressions so far:

- The game’s cutscenes are a mix between FMV and in-game engine. In-game engine story sequences are told through text, with some voice blurbs. The FMV cutscenes are KHII quality, and are fully voiced. Voice acting is, so far, top notch in the FMVs.

- The game progresses through chapters, which are called “days”. Roxas starts on Day 7, and the tutorial last about five to six days by going through different elements like battle, exploration, and completing missions. Experience, Munny and Heart Points are totaled when a day is finished. The game starts picking up after the tutorial are over and done with. Missions important to the plot are dotted with a Keyblade. Side missions are not. Advancing days is optional.

- You can save only in Castle Oblivion. I find it a bit annoying.

- You are given to control types. Type A and B. Type B makes the L and R buttons camera control, but makes shortcut commands a chore since you have to hold both L and R to get to it. I found Type A to be reasonable.

More impressions on the way.

General Gaming / Policenauts in English!
« on: September 13, 2009, 12:50:29 AM »
Been following this project for a while now, and been looking forward to it because I was (and still am) a huge Snatcher fan. Policenauts always intrigued me, and basically is considered Hideo's best work before he became the MGS slave he is now.

It's emulation... kind of an iffy subject, but hopefully the mods will overlook it.

Patch can be found here.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo - "Wii are confused."
« on: July 30, 2009, 01:33:11 PM »
I find this kind of intriging.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/100/1008359p1.html

Even Nintendo doesn't know why these "hardcore" games are not selling.

Yet to be fair, it's not really Nintendo's fault these games aren't selling. It's either: a) our fault because we bitch about the lack of hardcore games yet WE DON'T BUY THEM. b) 3rd Excuse Makers don't advertise them enough. c) Entertainment value and replayability. Conduit is good for an FPS... it's just so genetic, and Madworld entertains for only six hours.

You know the Wii is a great console when the company who makes it is just as confused as we are. I love you so much, Nintendo. :3

General Gaming / MGS5 takeawildguessontheplot Thread
« on: March 21, 2009, 10:26:41 AM »
Well, it was bound to happen despite Kojima saying MGS4 was his LAST GAME. There is going to be another MGS game, and god knows what other kind of plot thing Kojima will pull out of his ass. Will Sunny hack into Snake's DNA and make him a main character again?

This article tries to make sense of it. Personally, I would want a Ghost Babel sequal on the DS. It was ten times better then what MGS3, PO and MGS4 was. Best GBC game evah!

General Gaming / Sonic X-Treme: the most tragic moment in gaming history
« on: December 21, 2008, 12:41:16 AM »
Alot of people ask how Sonic's career has gone downhill. While I didn't find Sonic Adventure bad, it didn't really capture the feel of the Genesis Sonic titles. Yet after Sonic Adventure 2, and then the follow-up Sonic Heroes, I wondered what the hell was going on in Sega's company.

Though the story of Sonic X-Treme has been told so many times and it's long enough to make a damn book about, I think it could make an interesting discussion for a Nintendo fanboy who also liked some of Sega's games. While alot of change happened in 1996, which really changed the course of console leaders and how games were played, our favorite characters survived the transition to 3-D. Sonic, not so much.

This article, written by the Lost Levels with comments made by producer Mike Wallis and programmer Chris Senn, just makes Sonic's current situation much more painful. And it also cements my view that Yuji Naka is a glory hog, and Sega made a horrible mistake in giving him control of Sonic's future.

What the hell was wrong with Naoto Ohshima or Hirokazu Yasahara getting control? From comments I've read, these two were nice to the STi group.
