Bigger avatars, nifty... but...
« on: June 08, 2004, 08:53:48 PM »
I'm just wondering your allowing rather nice sized avatars now.

I'm just wondering if the stance on sig images is still a huge *NO* as there happens to be a sig image i absolutely love using, and use everywhere else but here.

http://clp.laxmaniac.net/Scott/syltag3.gif
(you guys don't allow remote linking either i notice)

I still doubt that you'd allow it, or bend the rules for one person, I figured it would be worth asking though.

I have to say I don't like the bigger size avatars.  They distract me and take up too much space on the left-hand size.

Well, it's space that's not really taken by anything else. Want to put it to a vote?

I like big hentai chick avatars.  They fill what's otherwise empty space, according to how visual forum space seems to be divided.

I love you dudes for the new bigger avatar thing.
Now I won't have to crop images down till they could fit in a Micro Machines car and speed away into the distance while cowboys roll around. Yay! =D

I prefer the smaller avatars, too, at the moment, but it probably just needs some getting used to.

Ian:  Yeah, it's still 20 kb.

I figure that although I don't like the new size avatars, I hate being the odd guy out. >_>

I told Ty it was cool as long as they don't stretch the forum's table cells, and he did some tests and found how big that could be.

I think this needs to be polled as well.

I just feel they're too wide now, to the point where its distracting. Maybe a more narrow size, say 80 x 120 (as in 120 down). Poll away!

Also, 100 x 100 is a common size on other forums (SA goon goons please goon goon) and also Livejournal. LJ lets you host 3 icons, too, more if you pay. How conveeeeeeenient.

I like bigger avatars, but I wouldn't want to have to see one that huge on my computer screen, Syl.

Here's the one I use there.

It's smaller than Syl's one, so how bout it?

PGC doesn't allow pics because of the abuse potential. I mean, look at their avatar rules. Sig pics are probably impossible without allowing normal pics as well and pretty much any pic would violate the rules.

what abuse potential?
Bar the fact that you can't directly link pics to posts, I doubt people would be that irresponsible CONSIDERING the rules in the first place.
And you KNOW how swiftly rule-breaking avatars are dealt with anyway, so why NOT give sigs a chance?
