TalkBack / Re: Wii Music Release Date Set

If it helps, the sensation goes away when I stand up while using the guitar controller.  But, in the very act of standing up, I've defeated the point of playing video games in the first place.  So, it's more realistic pillory action for me!

A 7 is a fair score for this game, from what I've played of it.  It deserves a 6, plus 1 for granting you the ability to become a gun-toting mind-controlled penguin.

It's impossible for me to play any Star Wars game without stopping to consider that the events I'm playing through occur in the same reality in which Stinky the Hutt gets kidnapped.

Does anyone else feel like they're strapping themselves into a pillory whenever they play Guitar Hero?  Whatever WiiMusic's faults, it probably won't make you feel like a radical alchemist being tortured for science crimes against King George.

Now all the controller needs is a robotic green cat to latch on somehow and you'd have VOLTRON: DEFENDER OF THE UNIVERSE!

I regard older Disney films (the ones made when Walt was still alive) as sacred artistry and don't like them meshed with anime stock characters.  That said, though, contemporary Disney Inc. has a history of diminishing their most beloved characters, so KH isn't really too great a tremor on my geek meter.

The game's odd style does in fact enhance some Pokemon.  Meditite's cuteness, for example, is compounded a thousand times over once he gets the Ranch treatment.  And some of the models are so bad they're actually funny, ala Machoke's appearance as The Blue Dorito.

Cheap deaths are annoying, but what frustrates me the most is the fragility of your clients.  One or two hits from some Raticate that appeared out of nowhere and it's back to floor 1.  What ticked me off the most, though, is that I wasn't allowed to start off as a Cubone this time out, so I had to take the personality quiz at least a dozen times to manipulate the game into giving me a Munchlax instead.

Video games and the internet are a tag team of badness invented for the singular purpose of reminding me that everyone is better than me at everything.  So don't let Brain Age get ya down.

Having just seen an actual clip of the game in motion for the very first time, it'd be fair to say that I'm overawed by the graphics.  They're GORGEOUS.

I for one didn't care for the music in the gameplay video I saw, though.  It wasn't very Wario.  That was just one video, though, so the end result might wind up more characterful.

Peanuts, what a class act.  Didn't they have a pretty good tennis game for the GBA?

TOS has to be watched while taking in to consideration of the time it was made, like Adam West Batman.

West Batman is as intentionally hilarious and bizarre today as it was in the 60's.  Writer Lorenzo Semple didn't like Cold War era comic books or 60's culture, and was prophetic in predicting how silly they'd look in retrospect.

Although I loved TNG, that's the only Star Trek series I've ever been able to enjoy.  One of my favorite races was the Ferengi, but they sorta turned into total goofballs in DS9.

Everything sounds great, except for the 8-10 hour lifespan.  Still, that beats Yoshi's Story.

I don't really enjoy baseball video games, but I love the idea of creating a sports team made entirely of hand-picked Mario characters.  Here's hoping they inject that idea into a different Mario sports title.

In defense of myself and other Nintendo fans, though, Shadow the Hedgehog has left us jaded and skeptical about life in general.

I'm happy that there are so many new Sims IPs taking root on Nintendo platforms.

I kinda feel like a heel for griping about the fact that Sonic's brandishing a sword in this game.  They couldn't very well make it a sword 'n sorcery thing without giving him a sword.  At any rate, it's quite a bit different than giving Shadow a gun.

They could further add to the element of food (eggs and such) as being a necessity of survival while outrunning enemies that can hear your careless movements and smell the blood from your un-bandaged wounds. An action-oriented Resident Evil could certainly retain it's survival-horror aspects with some Snake Eater-like upgrades. I agree that the beginning of Resident Evil 4 showed just such promises, but quickly went down hill in terms of this and became extremely linear.

The first part of the game was creepy, so that's nice.  The second part, in the castle, had some neat puzzles.  There weren't a lot of them, but it was sort of a throwback to the earlier RE games.  It wasn't until you invaded Cobra Commander's island base in the final third that the game started to feel like they were running out of ideas.

As I've stated millions of times before, what Sonic needs at least as much as decent gameplay is just to lighten up.  I like the Soul Caliber look as much as the next guy, but Mr. the Hedgehog is visibly lost.

MMO's are remarkably light on story.  I wonder how this is going to mesh with the high storytelling standard set by the previous KOTOR games.

The survival horror-est part of the entire RE series, to me, was early in RE4 when you first stumble upon the little hamlet and have to find a cranny to take refuge in as the villagers begin their pressing attack.  It was a short segment, but it was very effective at making me feel isolated and fragile.

Is it too soon to give up hope on conducting Night on Bald Mountain or Mozart's Requiem?  This IS just the first preview, right?

I love almost anything that fits the criteria "Sid Meier's ________."  I'm picking this up for sure, but I'm waiting until I can find it for less.  Spending 60 bucks for a video game is blech.  Way back when, I purchased Battletanx for the N64 for $59.99 at Wal-Mart, only to come back THE VERY NEXT DAY and it had been knocked down to $19.99.  Overnight.  Never again!  The last time I spent more than 50 dollars on a game was Guitar Hero, and that turned out to be kind of a bust too.

I get the feeling that watching people play the game would be more effective than a simple video showing Miis playing Yankee Doodle Dandy.  At least, I hope so.  It'll be interesting to see what other songs you can play along to.  With a wealth of public domain Classical music out there, it's a shame all we got in this preview was Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Yankee Doodle Dandy, and the expected Mario theme.

If only this were PRIMAL Rage.

And I liked Doom 3.  It was the first FPS since Turok: Rage Wars that I actually enjoyed.
