Title: Chicken Discussion
Post by: wandering on August 29, 2008, 12:13:55 AM
I've been a vegetarian all my life, but I ate some chicken once, when I was a kid. Of all the unfortunate products of cruelty I've encountered, that chicken leg was the tastiest.

Sorry, but I don't speak to people who's greatest achievements in life is consuming a chicken wing. Either eat some steak, or we can compromise and eat some buffalo wings.

I don't trust vegetarians. Its like they've got some sort of motive which is obvious and subtle at the same time.

Buffalo wings are good, but just making them hot for the sake of hot is lame. You need flavor, like a mix of sweetness and heat. My family's wing sauce recipe is the greatest flavor in the world. And to answer the above question, ranch dip all the way, though I only dip wings that don't already have good flavor.

My take on vegetarianism is:

Mankind as a species are omnivores. We have teeth just for ripping meat with. Its not cruel to eat animals, it's just part of how nature works. If you love nature and animals respect that this is the way things are and always have been in nature.

I do not think that all of the was animals are treated in farms are right and I don't think killing animals for fun is acceptable either.

Also meat is just sooo damn good I couldn't stop eating it.

Pale wins. You're supposed to use Blue Cheese, that's how the family that invented it served it. Buffalo sauce is easy to make too, it's Frank's red hot, garlic, and butter. The more butter you add, the less intense the flavor is, so keep that in mind when you order wings - if you choose "mild", then you're eating a whole lot of butter. Also, Ranch dressing is for girls, and it's the most white-trashiest thing to ever happen to a salad...and every other food item that us Americans (and by us, I mean everyone that isn't me) add it to.

Who cares how the family that invented a subpar wing sauce served it? There are much better ways to have wings than traditional buffalo style.

Post by: EasyCure on August 31, 2008, 02:14:43 PM
name them? cuz buffalo wings are my fave, with blue cheese. I'll only take ranch when thats my only option (but i usually only end up dipping the celary or carrot sticks in it and eat the chicken alone)

even my buffalo chicken pizza had blue cheese on it.

Pale needs to show me a good time (and by that i mean take me to those places) if i ever plan a trip upstate.

just last night after a tedious day I went to Golden Coral and ate.
1 plate of steak with sausage and mashed potatoes
than another plate of steak with corn.

the meal was 75% steak 15% Dr. Pepper 10% veggies and 1000% manly.

I won't eat veal, and I hate Fish. Fish are so nasty to me it smells bad, why eat something that doesn't smell good.

chicken wings are nice, but i want to go for the meat the bone just wastes precious seconds from eating meat and is tedious.

I'm anti animal cruelty, we can kill the animals in a way that isn't a jerk. I am against testing products on animals or operating on animals without pain killers. Just because I don't want animals to suffer doesn't mean I won't eat them.

They sacrificed their life the least you can do is eat their flesh so there death isn't in vain.

We are the most advanced ANIMAL on the planet, but we are still an animal and thus we can eat meat.

I don't trust vegetarians. Its like they've got some sort of motive which is obvious and subtle at the same time.

My motive in being a vegetarian is not to get cancer from eating tortured dead animals who've been injected with growth hormones and other disgusting chemicals to make them meatier and/or tastier.  Also, I like the sense of moral superiority it gives me.  (I truly believe I'm a better person than those who eat meat.)

Morningstar Farms makes really good fake chicken products.  They have nuggets, strips, patties, and buffalo wings.  You really can't tell the difference between real and fake chicken.  It's also got a lot less cholesterol and saturated fat, not to mention there is no cruelty involved whatsoever.

just like the animal your just a dense collection of atoms functioning as a seperate unit defined by the left side of your brain. In other words there is no difference between eating the animal and not.

what better to dip your buffalo wings in?

Blue Cheese or Ranch Dressing?

A combination of the two, w/ a pint of Fat Tire.

You sir, are the man. Fat Tire...I miss you sooooo much (can't buy it where I live). BTW, it's all about the cheese.

This post is full of win. I know at least 6 chicks that love ranch. I mean, they absolutely LOVE IT! They'll eat it with anything; I mean everything. I even played a prank on one of them, where I tossed a dipping cup full of ranch onto her exposed cleavage and guess what? She lapped it up! Case in point.

name them? cuz buffalo wings are my fave, with blue cheese.

While I love the classic taste, there are some amazing ways to make wings. There's Caribbean jerk (real Caribbean jerk, not that B-Dubs bullshit) just to name one. I enjoy making my own sauce as well ( Thai peanut sauce! It's a mix of lime, soy sauce, peanut butter, garlic, chili peppers, minced onions, and sugar).

I won't eat veal, and I hate Fish. Fish are so nasty to me it smells bad, why eat something that doesn't smell good.

chicken wings are nice, but i want to go for the meat the bone just wastes precious seconds from eating meat and is tedious.

Both of those statements are ridiculous. Fish (and seafood in general) are delicious; sushi especially. Just because "it smells bad" is not an excuse not to AT LEAST try it. Ever smelled pussy? There's not a man in the world that hasn't eaten that. But seriously, different type of fish can have hugely different flavors. Start of with some Salmon, preferably grilled with a twist of lemon. You should at least try sushi some time in your life as well; if anything, just to be a little more cultured. Also, does your "it smells bad" include other types of seafood. Cuz calamari and crabs are fucking delicious; nuff said.

And not eating chicken because it takes too long? How busy are you? Please, and I'm being serious; enjoy your food. We may be animals, but we are not savages. Plus, some people around the world don't have the simple pleasure of biting into a delicious turkey leg. So enjoy it.

Well, first off, there are plenty of people who eat meat and do not get cancer. That's an absurd statement. Secondly, you seem to characterize the farming industry as a whole as a profit hungry, do whatever to get ahead, type of business. It's a business, yes, but that's just mean; considering that a **** load of people depend on them. Yes, there are farmers looking to sell meat that you wouldn't really want to eat (for instance, Mcdonald's serves dairy cows that can't produce any more milk or are past their prime). But if your so worried about the health and care of the chicken or cow or lamb or turkey you are eating, there are ways to get meat from properly cared animals. Plus, you said it yourself, you obviously like chicken. Hell, your willing to eat something that isn't even chicken. So your argument goes out the window. There's no real reason why anyone should be vegetarian unless your religion tells you not to. However, if you don't eat something because you don't want to support the black market that it supports [i.e. Shark fin soup] then by all means. But if your doing it for that smug feeling, then I really feel sorry for you.

by the way all this talk of feeling superior to someone for not eating meat or eating meat is stupid.

Talk to me when you've eaten unicorn

BTW, Lamb is the BEST red meat. Hands down.

Didn't you hear? Bubbles give you cancer.

There are at least 4 types of wings I like better than traditional buffalo wings, and I feel sorry for all of you that you could only really hope to try one of them (if you ever go to Damon's get wings with the Spicy Sweet & Sour sauce). Two of them are homemade recipes, one of them based off the other, that are primarily Frank's Red Hot and Honey, with various other things in there in smaller amounts. The last is Hot and Honey, one of 63 wing flavors available at a local bar called Chipper's Tavern. All four of them are things I don't dip in anything because the flavor's just so good on it's own.

Give me a thick cut of beef (or porterhouse steak or T-Bone steak if we're being specific) and BBQ it up medium-rare with a bit of pepper to taste. Or perhaps you Yankees don't know how to BBQ right.

Anything lamb is a distant second to this king of cuts.

I bet she has a clean colon too.

K-stogi's post was awesome until the lamb part. I've had it, i didnt like it. I wanna try horse meat cuz everyone raves about it but i'm not sure i'd like simply because its tough to chew.

I dont have any fancy chicken places by me so i cant try any thing other than buffalo chicken. Sure i can get lemon chicken but thats more of a meal then a snack like buffalo wings can be. Fried chicken fingers with honey mustard or something on the side isnt as good as some kick ass wings either. No contest there.

oh and Brandogg is right, you gave me flashbacks to all the times i had Dominos with my ex and she'd ask for extra ranch over blue cheese and how it ticked me off.

As much as I love cooking my own rib-eye, nothing beats the taste of mensaf; the traditional Jordan meal. I've had it literally 6 times in two weeks and it was perfect every time. It's slow-cooked lamb on a bed of flat bread with rice and grilled pine nuts with a savory yogurt sauce. It comes on a huge platter for everyone to enjoy together.

And yes, that is a lambs head right in the middle (the tongue's a delicacy).

I know, that picture isn't great (unfortunately that's the best image I could find) but really it's just tender and succulent lamb meat (pull apart-able by hand with the littlest of effort) with rice, bread, and nuts (if you've never had Arabic rice, it's boiled in the broth of the meat you cooked) . If you just KINDA like lamb and that platter is in the room, after that first bite, you wouldn't want to do anything else but to literally stick your face into it and gorge the **** out. It's soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fucking tasting.

tell me about it.

my mom and dad bought one and kept it in our backyard. I remember very fondly I was 5 and my Sister was 7 and we feed it and pet it and played with it every day for months.
One day it was missing. We ate dinner and my mom told us what happend to our pet.
My sister and myself never forgave our parents and I protested eating lamb for years. I remember I was really hungry one day and ate a giro and later found out it was lamb and i didn't care. For at least 15 years I gave up a meat because of that.

It wasn't a big deal since lamb is rare to eat for me, so its not everyday thing like Beef, Chicken and to lesser extent pork.

i'll never forget that, I was only 5 and we didn't have dogs yet so it was my first pet.

No, it gets really tough if you cook it too long. Too long meaning more than a minute or so. I had it like 10 years ago, possibly longer, so I can't remember what the taste is, but I do remember it was delicious.

Yeah, sheep sex is very old, but you left yourself wide open for that one...the sheep too. I like lamb, btw, but if you don't cook it right it's tough as a motherfucker.

Am I the only other person on this board who eats lamb?  YUM  (Although, maybe not the exact dish Kashogi's pushing.)

lamb is addicting, i live in Tucson which is great for its abundance of medditerainian/middle eastern restauraunts, everything from greek, lebanese, afghani, ehtiopian, arabian, and persian are all here

i love lamb! its my favorite food

i was at this persian restaruant and the owner of the restaraunt walks up and strikes a coversation

so you like lamb?

yeah

yeah, if you go to our market next store we have a succulent rack of lamb for sale for 24 dollars. Its not just any lamb meat. The persian lamb meat and the american lamb meat are differnt. This stuff is shipped to us from austrailia, the sheep over there are different, they are so fat that you can't see their tails

i was thinking oh my god, that sounds like the best thing ever

Well, I finally did it (http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=26006.msg451147#msg451147).  I've been craving fried chicken ever since the topic came up, and since I had to work all weekend to get a project done, I decided to reward myself.  It was everything I ever dreamed it could be.  Also, now I don't have to cook for the next few days.  So, Bonus.  My one regret is that the chicken apparently doesn't come in a bucket anymore.

This is odd. My sister is a vegan, as well as all her friends, and my mom is a vegetarian.
Plus, don't you live in Wisconsin too, Wandering?

I'm seeing a creepy resemblence.

Anyways, the point is, I support vegetarianism (?spell check?), because I'm surrounded by vegetarians/vegans.

Alright guys I went through an spoiler-ed out all of the explicit sexual stuff in here. It isn't particularly appropriate and may be offensive to some. Remember we have mixed company here. Please leave it out or carry conversation through Private Messages.

Isn't there a profile setting if you want to asterisk-out swearing?

Why spoiler it out?

Go look at the spoilers, this has nothing to do with swearing.

Yeah I guess this thread got a little out of hand (and by a little, I mean a lot). I think the title of this thread is too welcoming for the terrible, terrible things that we've said.

I had beef, chicken, *AND* turkey for breakfast today. It was a good breakfast but turkey bacon is not as good as pork bacon.

And as far as the language goes, the stuff I hear around school these days, that stuff is almost a complement.
