I did that quest but I focused on finishing it alive so I didn't try to book 'em. Figured I'd wait until I had better gear before staying on the same map with that thing for long.

Personally I went with bone as the stats say it does poison damage but yeah, they upgrade differently. If you have the money to spare, you may want to eventually get both just to have weapons crafted for certain types of monster.

Ugh, 8-character name limit. I hate that. Why so short?
I can't use "Mop it up" so I'll have to think of something else. I suppose I could use my first name... but that's unoriginal.
Hmm... this could be tough...

Maybe a bit.  I've been on these forums since way back during the PGC (maybe even before) days.  I'm Racht.  Nice to meet ya.

It's nice to meet -- wait no! Don't get to know me as Mop it up! You'll come to know me as... whatever my in-game name is whenever I decide to get started.

Is it me or is there a lack of people actually talking in this game? Most other players I come across don't even have a mic & the few that do have it set on mute.

I've noticed that, too, GK.  I use a headset mic with earphone in place of my Wii Speak, but I can't get anyone else to talk online.  I'm hoping the first time I play online with you guys, I'll be good to go in that regard (hopefully the rest of you will, too). :)

The game NEEDS communication.  It's key to defeating a lot of those vicious beasts!

That same thing happened to me Sundoulos.

I have to admit, I'm really digging this game. Whenever I actually take it online for a bit, I'll get my ID and put it in the other thread.

Based on DIRECT EXPERIENCE (Endless Ocean, Tatsunoko), this will never happen. :-P
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

Well, I can be quite the talkative person so you shouldn't have to worry about me being quiet when we play.

I'm going to be playing for a bit if anyone cares to join me. I'm still trying to figure out the ropes of the game. I'm having trouble managing my items. How do I make money? I have a ton of goodies from hunting but no money. Do you only get them from quests?

Indeed. Had lost one online quest thanks to me not knowing what the Hell my partner was doing. A Monster Guts gathering quest yet he kept worrying about the sub quests to the point that he let the clock run down without ever dropping off anything he gathered.

How do I make money? I have a ton of goodies from hunting but no money. Do you only get them from quests?

Quests & selling items you don't want. Careful about selling some of the more expensive items though. They may be useful to combine into new items or used to forge/upgrade stuff. I usually will run by the blacksmith to see what he needs for the gear I want before selling it off. You don't even have to take the stuff out the box to show him either.

To sell, you can take the item to the item selling lady(or kid if you're online) of course but you can actually sell them from your item box by clicking Manage then Sell. Alternatively you can sell items you were awarded from a quest instead of putting them in your pouch or box.

Is this a USB headset mic?  I didn't realize you could use a headset mic with the Wii.  Do tell.

Yeah, it's just a simple USB headset that came with one of my Karaoke Revolution games on the PS2. Monster Hunter Tri recognizes it as "Wii Speak", so I've been using that in place of it. Works like a charm. :)

Thought I read that USB headsets didn't work. Maybe it's just certain types. I like the new headphones I ordered but if this works...

So is the headset you're using this?

I'm wondering if I could use this, which seems like a newer and nicer version.

I hate using WiiSpeak when it's just me playing.  It feels like I'm playing a game over a speakerphone.

I want to get a USB headset compatibility list going, if only for Monster Hunter Tri.

You are correct, Jon. That's the one. I don't see why that fancier Logitech one wouldn't work.

These two claim to be Wii compatible but they're pricey for something unconfirmed to work...

So, every time I get on to play I go through and see if anyone is online to add to my friend list. What a chore, especially if no one is on or is busy in a quest. This is what I propose: I'll PM my cell phone to anyone here who wants to cooridinate being online at the same time, if only for adding to the friend list. Yeah, we could just wait till Tuesday (love that song Voices Carry...) but in case anyone wants to try before hand sending a txt message would be the best way to alert others that we're online. Yeah,... I still need to get a mic, too... I will, promise.
