It just seems like a weird choice for a demo disc. The best aspects of the game, the multiplayer and customization, aren't there; all you get is the combat, which sounds to me like the worst part of the game.

I actually assumed that the demo would have some rudimentary multiplayer. I didn't realize the game could be played solo until the demo impressions came in.

I still haven't preordered.  If people really think this club is gong to happen I'll probably still pick it up... but i'm definitely not buying it without some sort of guarantee of regular multiplayer hunting.

Half of the games I buy are with the hope of regular multiplayer happenings so I know what you mean. It's nice to have online now unlike buying party/multiplayer games a gen ago and half my friends not playing with me.

I have a copy pre-ordered on Amazon so I plan on playing a lot.

I didn't mind the demo as it is. Multiplayer would have been nice but I like having a chance to get used to the controls & the weapons now so I can just jump in there once the game comes out.

Still looking forward to playing with you guys.

I played the demo about a week ago, took down the T-Rex guy just fine but still haven't beaten the goiter-ized avian necromancer.  Could see how multiplayer would be better, it's tough to chase down a monster when he's limping and can just fly away.  I didn't hate it though, thought balancing the timing of the dodging & attacking/item management felt old-school in a good way.  Would be better with 2.5 times the time limit and 4 times the players.  Was playing on a 4:3 TV without 480p, so I didn't see the graphical hitch in its giddy-up others of you saw.  Is it really that terrible looking?

I got the demo and it's difficult.  What surprises me is that there isn't a whole lot of "teaching" to it.  Monster Hunter Freedom Unite eases you into gameplay over probably 7-10 hours by having you perform gathering quests and hunting quests against benign creatures, but the demo does none of that.

To those that have it, I'd suggest trying out some of the different weapons on the "grazing" creatures before you tackle Great Jaggi or the other guy.  They're tough, especially solo, since Jaggi can call in his posse of mini-Jaggis, and the other guy can call in other huge monsters (so that you're effectively fighting two bosses at once).  Not exactly a good way to introduce the game to beginners.

Although I am kind of worried about people's impressions of the demo (specifically that the game is difficult and hard to control), I'll still probably buy it anyway. I want to try out multiplayer since that's pretty much what the game is about, so the demo is useless to me. If I don't like it, I'll just sell it. Games tend to sell on eBay for $40 a few months after release, so if worse comes to worst, I'll just have paid $20 for a Classic Controller PRO and a one month rental of Monster Hunter Tri.

I found Jaggi to be rather easy once I started to find the weapons that suited me.

As for that stupid bird I finally got him the other day by just bashing his brains in with the hammer. If the monsters he calls in get close just use the charged attack. Not sure about that one dragon-looking monster but Jaggi will bail on the bird if you damage him enough.

A few nights ago I tried the demo and took a jaggi down after a few tries. The controls were awkward mostly because of the remote nature of the remote and nunchuck. Then I downloaded the demo manual from the Monster Hunter site and I'm going to try it all over again with classic controls. I'll most likely pick it up because I like Shadow of the Colossus. I work crazy night hours but I'm free around Mondays and Thursdays, EST!

Game ordered.  Hopefully Amazon Prime will be delivering it tomorrow.

I have a question about the region lock.

Can someone that has a North American Wii and the game but is somewhere in another part of the world play with North Americans?

No, North Americans can only play North Americans (I got this answer directly from Capcom PR).

And the game looks good.  It just doesn't look as sharp as something like Super Mario Galaxy.

Maxi's question was, could someone who lives in a different region purchase a North American system and game(s) and play online with North Americans? For example, if someone in Europe had an NA system and NA copy of Monster Hunter Tri, could they play it online with people in North America?

Breaking News:  "Lindy region-locks MH Tri"

Consumer response:  WHY?!

Capcom:  "You should be thankful we're sending this stealth-troll of a game to Wii audiences.  We are the beacon of 3rd Party quality on Nintendo systems."

Sadly it is true. They did bring us RE4 and Okami after all...wait, those were ports. ;)
