General Gaming / Component/Composite To VGA
« on: January 20, 2007, 07:47:31 PM »
Hey, I'm in a bit of a predicament here.  I'm moving in the coming week, and I can't take my CRT TV with me.  I have a Wii, and would still like to play at my new place without having to go out and buy a new set.  My idea was that I would take my LCD monitor with me, because of its size and ability to display a higher resolution.  What I'm looking for is something that could take a component and/or a composite image and display it on a VGA or DVI signal.  Anybody have any help?

Nintendo Gaming / My Wii Tribute Animation
« on: October 20, 2006, 11:09:39 PM »
So, I made this animation over the past month showing different uses for video game characters using the wiimote.  700 pages is a lot to hand draw.  For now, I'm glad to be done, and I'm glad it came out pretty close to how I envisioned it as well, so that's cool.  It's wii related, so I wanted to know what you guys thought.  Thanks.

So did anybody actually go and see this?  I saw it opening day and was actually really impressed.  I went in with low expectations and was played directly to.  This turned out great, and I don't know how.  I've seen it twice now and I have plans to see it a third time.  I have laughed so hard during this movie it hurt afterwards.  Highly recommened.

Anybody else see it?  I've heard there are a number of people that didn't "get" it, so the sooner you can go the better, because you will be with a crowd that probably does get it.

Nintendo Gaming / DKJB's Dev Team's New game is.....
« on: May 11, 2006, 09:49:58 AM »
Super Mario Galaxy.  Many people speculated it was Smash Bros, but according to IGN it's indeed Mario.

In the same article, they also confirm that Brawl has a 70 person dev team.  AWESOME!

Nintendo Gaming / New Chibi Robo + More (Yoshi's Island 2 video)
« on: May 09, 2006, 10:18:22 AM »
Nintendo's site has them all.  Wow.  Why didn't they show all of these at the conference?  There are some sweet shots of Starfox and more.

Yoshi looks amazing.  Cannot freaking wait. Link to Yoshi
Chibi Lovin'

Edit:  It looks like there are drop points to swap out babys in Yoshi's Island 2.  Mario, Peach, and DK are all shown.

Nintendo Gaming / NEW hardware news! (Wii has LAN adaptor)

"Users can connect wirelessly using IEEE 802.11b/g, or with a USB 2.0 LAN adaptor."

All I can say is "yes!"  This gives no excuse now for people to not play online.  Wifi or not, this is great news.

Nintendo Gaming / Making games disconnect
« on: November 15, 2005, 11:00:45 PM »
What makes it so that you get into a game, but the countdown never begins?  It then says, depending on the instance, that either I, or my friends, were disconnected from the WFC.  Recommendations?  Some games work great, and once they get going, it's all good, but sometimes that starting line can be torture.

EDIT:  I guess what I'm asking, is if this is an isolated occurrence, or if it is WFC at the moment in its super bogged down state.  I've gotten into 3 games in a row with Bloodworth, but none of them actually started.  Thoughts?

Nintendo Gaming / Question on Mario Kart scoring
« on: November 15, 2005, 08:00:15 PM »
Does it count each race you play as a win or a loss, or does it count a cup that you play?  I have a router that is trash that likes to disconnect, so I haven't played more then 3 races in a row to even know if it is a cup (4 races) that is even played.  Does anybody know?

Also, how do you check your own record?  I know everybodies record I play against, but I don't know my own.

Yeah, I'm not too sure what I think about this yet.  It means they are willing to accept that the controller idea will take off.  How this functions with the various patents Nintendo has filed is also interesting.  Thoughts?  Is Nintendo actually setting the standard before they even launch or even show their product in use?  Crazy.

General Chat / Microsoft calls Firefox a "very high risk threat"

Here's the link

What is it with honest people these days?  Everyone is out to make a buck.  Then there are those out to further their monopoly.  IE had a 90+ percent hold on the internet community before Firefox.  Firefox made the first significant dent in that, and now they are being picked on.  Just think of how many mindless americans removed it from their system because their computer told them to.  This kind of stupidity just makes me mad.

Nintendo Gaming / DS "Rub" Flash Ads
« on: November 19, 2004, 09:58:16 AM »
At home, I use Firefox, and I have most of the iFrames blocked for the ads on this site.  It is very nice surfing after that.  Occasionally though, I log in from a public computer that doesn't have them blocked and I have to look at the ads.  The newest one I've seen though is the coolest one I've seen.  When I saw what happened, I was immediately intrigued.

I was in class this week, and somebody sitting next to me logged into Gaia, and a DS flash ad came up.  The same one this site has had for a few weeks.  She asked  "What is a DS anyway?" and I was able to tell her.  It was neat that that ad got her asking.  It was plain, but stylish.  The new one though is definately more informative, and wouldn't have required me to be there.  While moving the mouse up to the address bar, I crossed an ad, and much to my amazement, part of it was rubbed away.  It was almost identical to the ad earlier, except this time it needs to be rubbed to see it.  It helped get the point across, and I was pleased with just rubbing it off.

There may not be _many_ ads just yet, but so far they have been good, and are generating positive hype.  That is a good thing.  I can't wait until Sunday.

General Gaming / Any Suggestions? (audio recievers)
« on: May 20, 2004, 09:07:41 PM »
Yeah, so I just had a recent problem with mine.

I bought some dealio at some random electronic store a few years back, and got a 5.1 system for pretty cheap.  It had nice speakers, that all went into one dvd player/audio reciever.

Well, recently I had some people set stuff on top of the vents and burn out the Dolby Digital (Pro Logic still works), and more recently then that some other features went.  It is quite awkward, as I can isolate it when each problem began.

I've been out of the market, and haven't done much research lately, but I was looking for some help.  If anybody knows where I could get a cheap (~100 Dollars) reciever that decoded Dolbly Digital, Pro Logic, posibly EAX.  Pretty much the best thing-a-ma-bob that I can plug my 5.1 speakers (which are all still good) into.  I'm kinda an audiophile, so the best sounding stuff would be awesome.  It doesn't have to have Pro Logic II, but it would be nice to have at least the first.

Thanks for your time

Nintendo Gaming / Need a little help
« on: November 08, 2003, 10:31:21 AM »
I am saying this now, I am one of the biggest Nintendo fans there is.  Don't be calling me a Nintendo hater/spammer because mine broke.  I have purchased every Nintendo system, convinced many others to do the same and this is the first I have seen of a machine not working.

Ok, so I bought a Gamecube on launch day.  It was Indigo and it worked perfect.  It glitched a little during Metroid Prime, but it was already past the one year warrenty period, so I ignored it.  I would take my Gamecube with me to parties and such, as I even have a bag designated for that purpose.  At one of the parties though I went to convert a PS2 fan *he had never even heard of Gamecube before then* and figured I would woo him with F-Zero, Metroid, and Soul Calibur 2.  All of which I had on hand.  The problem though was, I couldn't get a game to boot.  The G would spin and say that I don't have a disk in the drive.  It really made me and Nintendo look bad.

Here's the deal though.  I have been around here long enough to have read about Nintendo's awesome customer service, and I would really like to know the how abouts to contact them.  As I said earlier, my Gamecube is obviously past warrenty and I am a broke college student and can't afford even to get it repaired.  I would like to know, from those you who have done it before, how exactly you went about getting your warrenty extended.  Any numbers and names would be extremely helpful.  Thanks for your time.
