RE: Newbie Check-In ... right this way!
« Reply #1350 on: June 20, 2006, 10:06:18 AM »
Hello there everybody!

Holy crap, I've been lurking for almost 2 years and I finally signed up!

I started visiting this site some time in '04 (I think the fall months) to read the GC/GBA sales data, and have been checking in weekly to check JP hardware/software and the discussion on those, as well as all the other lovely links (French, Australian, UK data etc...), and monthly for NPD (when it gets posted). Tracking the entire DS life so far here has been interesting, to say the least.
Anyways, the reason I lurked was because I tried to sign up (eons ago) but never got a confirmation mail or something like that, and each time I tried to sign up it said "username already taken" (believe me, I can't use another name besides this one), and even when I tried to have it email my address with login info, it never would work.
But I mailed the admin and here I am now, so it's all good.

So yeah, some props to Mario and some of the other posters who I've seen each time I come here, but never been able to interact with! I'm finally in and I'd like to get to know this community.

I'm a huge fan of many different styles of rock and metal (if you want to talk music), otherwise, as far as games go, I'm pretty inline with the Nintendo leniance on these boards (though I am an owner of all current-gen systems, but only for a couple games on the PS2/Xbox). I'm mad into classic NES/SNES games, the RPG genre (though I don't have much experience with the 32-bit era), and my favorite franchise is Metroid (contains 2 of my #1 games ever, yes, I have more than 1 #1 game).

So, hi

EDIT: 5 minutes in and I already got moderater-owned. I'm not used to no images in sigs Sorry, should've checked the guidelines first...
For reference, it has Samus (MP2 Dark Samus), Ryu Hyabusa (Ninja Gaiden), and Bobbery (Paper Mario: TTYD) in it. Generally representative of my tastes 8)

It was a problem with all sign-ups, for some reason the confirmation email never went out.

Heh. I'm a bit better with forum etiquette than in my early days on the 'net (5+ years ago). First forum I ever signed up for, a couple posts in I was swearing at some guy I disagreed with. Almost got booted from there and haven't since felt like stepping out of line anywhere (guilty conscience). That, and I moderate a message board anyways

Yeah I'll be around for the Wii launch, though I won't post too often around those months since I'll be in my first semester of college.

Hi all!

I've been lurking for a bit and finally signed up for an account.  I've mostly been hanging around the DS forum, as I am a complete DS junkie.

Nice to "meet" you all.

Actually, if (s)he's been lucking, (s)he's probably already familiar with your antics.    (I kid.)

Judging by your profile name (Anne) shall we take it you are a female?  Or do we have another Bill in the house (juding by your avatar)?

I'm not sure who Bill is, but I am a female.     And yes, Anne is my real name.
I realized after I chose my forum name/avatar that perhaps it wasn't the best fit for a nintendo forum.    Disgaea could come out for the DS though..right?  :|

Sorry for the initial avatar size, by the way.  I looked for guidelines around the "choose an avatar" area, but didn't see any.  Mea culpa for not looking more thoroughly.

BTW, I get a forum error every time I post.

The rules are kind of hidden for some reason.  They're in the announcements section, but the posts in there are all old enough that they don't show up anymore under the default profile options.  The simplest way to see them is to click on the "today" link.

I got errors after half of my posts when I first started posting, but now they're really rare.  I have no idea what the cause is.

Edit:  I hilariously got an error on this post.

I haven't tried wifi out yet, so I haven't really paid attention to which of my games support it, although I know Animal Crossing does.  I don't have Metroid Prime, though.  I've only had my DS Lite for a couple of weeks; I lucked out and my housemate got me a black one from Europe the day they came out.    I seem to be acquiring games at an alarming rate though...

I just finished Mario & Luigi Partners in Time and am about 2/3rds of the way through Trauma Center.  I also have the requisite copies of Brain Age and Big Brain Academy.  Rounding out the collection are Kirby's Canvas Curse, the aforementioned Animal Crossing, and Super Princess Peach.  I've also been playing around with Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones.  And I have Trace Memory on its way.

Are there any rules for posting reader reviews?  I was considering posting some for the games I've completed.

You'll find out who Bill is soon enough.  He's a regular on the board.  He usually has avatars of cute anime girls, although it's a Pokemon right now because of our Mafia game (*Mew*).  You'll notice of lot of those right now (about 26, I believe).

The only rules are don't post any reviews for a non-Nintendo console.  Actually, that's not really a rule, but you'll notice that most people here tend to ignore reader reviews of games that don't appear on a Nintendo console.  Not sure why that is.

EDIT:  I just got that same error you did.  Not sure why.  That's not a normal thing, so I'd assume PGC will fix that up sometime soon.

I think it just check for an older thread for the game you want to review and post it thier if thier is before making a new thread.

Disgaea on the DS would be awesome, but Nippon Ichi (?) doesn't seem to favor anything Nintendo.  PS2 and PSP. ;_;

guess I'll say hi to Anne as well, and report in myself, even though I have jumped right into the mafia game.

I'm jealous that she has trauma center, I need to find that around regular price again, or cheaper, and pick that sucker up.

I'm actually borrowing the Trauma Center from a friend.  However, according to Amazon, there will be another wave of Trauma Center available August 22nd.  I'm not sure how accurate Amazon is, but I'm going to wait and see if I can get a copy then.  Amazon is taking preorders for it right now.

They're also doing preorders for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, which they say will be available September 16th.

I really hope they're right, but I don't have an experience with their predicted dates.

Nice to meet you as well!    I saw the crack thread and have been keeping a hawk eye on my dsl ever since.  So far, no signs of cracking, but the black ones did come out later than the white ones.  Might just take a bit longer for them to develop.  :/

I keep toying around with the idea of getting a pink one from Japan and making a pink/black hybrid dsl.  I think I'm too scared of taking the covers off to actually go through with it.

Hello Flonne.  Like your avatar and they get pretty ecclectic around here ranging from nothing to do with videogames to some specific theme people want to do.  Hopefully we won't run you off.  I tend to have an opinion about everything, especially when works boring.  So I'll see ya around.

Easycure, everyone was messing with me. For my name and random crap. A few people thought i was some other guy because i use this a lot: The reason for the random stuff was because i act all " Weird" when i go to a new forum spot. Dont know why, just do.

Flonne, is trauma center not one of the hardest games you have ever played? My friend got so mad he literally threw is ds against the wall. I like it, but it gets too hard. I actually own it.

The ds crack thing usually only appears in the white ones, so i wouldnt worry too much.
