I didn't check the date on this at first... was about to be impressed he was still able to sell his Nintendo 64 to Gamestop.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Six months in, thoughts on Switch?
« on: October 29, 2017, 01:08:12 PM »
As that ridiculous list suggests, I absolutely adore the Switch. From a hardware perspective it's my favorite game system ever and I'd prefer to play just about everything on it

This about sums up my feelings on it too. I love the quick start aspect of the system and the flexibility. While I vastly prefer docked mode, it's great to know I can just grab it for a trip too real quick (literally it uses the same charging cable as my Galaxy S8 so don't even need to take an extra cord).

My only regret with it is that I bought a physical copy of Mario Kart for it.. in hindsight, digital would have been so much better since pretty much every trip I want to play it with others but will often have a single player game in the card slot.

TalkBack / Re: Ryu, Roy Revealed as Smash Bros. Leaks Emerge

I remember RFN's theory of a decided list that was already in place,  and the characters with the most votes on that list would be chosen. I'll take that one step further, there was no list. Nintendo already knew who they were putting in next.

Voting doesn't end until October. These leaked characters are likely planned up until ones that are voted on would be included (and I'm braced for only one or two ballot voted characters).

December is the earliest I would expect to see a ballot inclusion in the game given how long it took them to add Mewtwo and Lucas.

If the 3DS version is just a port of the Wii U game with more characters I am going to be hella pissed. I am not paying that much for a character transfer.

I'm holding out that those characters become DLC for for the Wii U version.

I have to imagine that this partnership is going to lead to "Nintendo Land" replacing the current Marvel Island at Islands of Adventure here in Orlando, possibly replacing the Comics Island as well ala Harry Potter. The Marvel contract's expiring in the near future, so those attractions will have to be replaced anyway.

Do you have a source for the Marvel contract expiring soon? Everything I have read has stated it to be pretty much for the life of the Islands of Adventures park.

http://themeparkuniversity.com/disney/will-disney-world-add-marvel-attractions/

Universal just dropped a chunk of change to update the Spider-man ride as well, so doubtful they foresee it being closed soon.

Replacing the newspaper comic area of the park seems more logical, as it feels like the most popular aspect of that area are the opportunities to stand below a speech bubble for a photo...

Nintendo Gaming / Re: What is YOUR top ten Wii U games so far...
« on: March 07, 2015, 01:02:52 PM »
1. Super Smash Bros. Wii U
2. Mario Kart 8
3. The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors
4. Batman: Arkham City
5. DuckTales Remastered
6. Wii Sports Club
7. Batman: Arkham Origins
8. Pikmin 3
9. Nintendo Land
10. ZombiU

General note, don't have Super Mario 3D World (as that's a clear favorite in lists so far).

I'm also generally surprised at the lack of Arkham City in these lists. I assume most people played it on a different system first.

Wow, I love that, it's a great send up of the original US Mothra poster:

The Brawl soundtrack was one of the best things about the game. Many of those songs have a healthy life on my iPod.

Like Luigi Dude, pretty excited about this gigantic collection of music for the latest Smash Bros. :-)

If there was a kickstarter to help this see the light of day on the Wii U... I would be there in a snap, and I have never done a kickstarter before.

Dragons is doing better than the 1st movie though.

Worldwide, on the domestic front it dropped off quite a bit from the first.

Movies are becoming more and more a global business that it doesn't matter as much, although studios still get less of the gross in most overseas markets (all the way down to just 25% in China).

36
Marvel started with a plan... well, part of a plan.
and they knew they only had a 12% chance of success.

That's more than 11%

37
There has been a lot of concern in the box office industry about a lack of a $300 million film in the domestic market this year, and that none of the Summer movies were able to achieve that. First time since 2000...

...and now a film that looked like a long shot to be a success is going to break that streak for the year.  ;D

TalkBack / Re: New Nintendo 3DS Models Announced
« on: August 31, 2014, 01:45:15 PM »
This is my only fear with it. Marketing is going to be as bad, if not worse, as the Wii U.
"The New 3DS. Is it a new platform? Is it an upgrade to the 3DS? Who the hell knows?!"
You could replace 3DS with Wii U in that statement and you get how the Wii U originally was.

Solution: market it on the aspect that it's faster. More RAM, faster downloads, etc.

Bundle in Xenoblade, raise the price versus other markets... and suddenly it doesn't matter that their is a game that doesn't work on older models as its a pack-in to purchase.

39
I wish all DLC was like this. The combo of the price and size of the content makes you feel like the game is rewarding you for purchasing, rather than nickle and dimming you.

Was a day one pre-order for me.

Man, looking at those old posts, I think only ThePerm and Ian Sane are still around from them... and reading them makes me miss Hostile Creation and his leopard sheets.

I want some more series represented. Let's see someone from the Wars series for example. Not sure who though, as I don't know who's the most iconic/popular there.

That gets a major round of applause from me.

Advance Wars is one of my favorite series, second only to Smash Bros, and would love to see better representation for it. My vote for a character from it is Sami, as she was a starter and would help fill up the female fighter ratio a bit more:

Sounds like we are going into merger fantasy talks.

Capcom would be my dream merger, as they both have a lot to offer each other and have some of the more recognized franchises in video games. Capcom brings the more adult oriented titles they lack with franchises that have street cred (Resident Evil especially).

If we are talking major corporation level mergers, though, Disney swooping in would be another good outcome. As BlackNMild2k1 mentioned, they have allowed Marvel and Pixar to act on their own... and have a lot of marketing opportunities through merchandising wings and especially the parks (although they would be buying Toho away from owning every company I care about at this point). All the same there would be some major shakeups in how Nintendo acts if something like this is the outcome.

In reality, if something does come out of this, I'm expecting something out of left field.

44
I think Nintendo buying Sega makes about as much sense as Disney buying Marvel and Star Wars. In which case Nintendo should buy Capcom too.

Buying Sega doesn't make much sense... buying Capcom makes a lot of sense.

Outside of Sonic, Sega doesn't have nearly the brand recognition that Street Fighter, Mega Man and Resident Evil have (plus Monster Hunter in Japan). The purchase would really diversify their portfolio, and a lot of Capcom's franchises have a strong following of their own.

Will they do it? No, but Capcom makes the most sense if they were going to go after a major publisher from Japan.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Official Sales Thread

Anyone know what caused the Wii U to gain traction and pass up the Vita that week? Appears to be a combo of the Vita dropping by just about as must as the Wii U rose, yet don't see anything in the top 20 to indicate it unless Monster Hunter is really kicking the wind out of the Vita's sails.

I can guarantee Capcom atleast 1 sale of an Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 U Edition.

Make that two guaranteed sales.

Seeing as how this is a game I still dig my Gamecube out for, yeah would love to see it come out for the Wii U.

Consider @hoshino_calibur bugged.

Have to say, really didn't know much about this game until this thread, so kudos for piquing my interest.

The fact that it's multiplayer is certainly a plus, although looking at the screens I can't imagine my gf giving it a chance.

I have a feeling though this game would really only appeal to people who remember the original or who have seen the show. Because if I hadn't been in love with the show I never would have played the original.

Concur with that. My overflowing love for the game is likely due to my nostalgia for both the show and the original game.

Downloaded it and love it. Have beaten it three times now, working up to Extreme mode.

Pretty rare for a game these days, but the mixture of nostalgia and solid gameplay have me hooked... plus the remixed music makes me smile each time.
