Rather than send out a bunch of PM's, I'll just say that I've added everyone on this page.

So what is your code?

Picked up my copy today from Best Buy after having Walmart and Kmart drop the ball by not even having the game on the shelf and not being able to put it up until someone higher up came in (Kmart) and not being able to find it (Walmart) when I got there early this morning. Ugh. Hate that. That's the 2nd or 3rd time I've had issues with Kmart after trying to take advantage of the $15 off coupons. I have until Dec 31st to take advantage of the coupon I have and I'm done with them. I'll stick with Best Buy and Amazon going forward.

I was just telling my girlfriend this morning the whole K-Mart deal is getting to be more trouble than it's worth. $15 or $20 off of a game is huge but not when you can't depend on them. I bought Super Mario 3D Land and got the $15 off coupon. I planned to use that on Zelda, and pick up the $20 coupon with Zelda. When I went the morning Zelda released, I was told they only received 2 copies and had already sold them. So I missed out there. Then today, I called before I even went and the worker (who was either new or just dumb) told me they didn't have it and to check back tomorrow as he didn't know when it might arrive. I then called another Kmart a little further away and was able to get it there. Shouldn't have to be this hard. And now I have another $15 coupon to unload.

So what are everyone's stats with Street Pass? I've had the system since launch and with the exception of one month, carry it with me nearly everywhere I go as evidenced by 1.3 million steps. In that time I've street passed 12 people a total of 14 times. Five of the 12 I got when I was traveling (1 at Columbus OH Zoo, 2 at Universal Studios in FL, and 2 at the airports to get to FL).

So really, I've gotten 7 local which I guess is better than none but I wish it was a lot more. I'm an adult and don't attend school. So these have basically been received when I've been in local stores or out walking around the neighborhood. With Mario Kart coming out and next year Animal Crossing I wish I was street passing a whole lot more.

TalkBack / Re: How I Got My GameCube - A Remembrance of a System Launch
« on: November 19, 2011, 03:33:33 PM »
I live in a small town compared to most and figured I'd have no problem getting a GameCube on launch day. I planned to drive to Walmart at 11:45pm, wait 15 mins and walk out with a new system. I wasn't about to wait in line for hours. So the day before I went to Walmart and bought an extra controller, memory card, Luigi's Mansion and Waverace. While there I checked with the worker who told me they would have 28 GameCubes, plenty I figured.

So that evening I was waiting till late to drive back to Walmart, about a 30 minute drive. At around 10:00 I got online to kill some time. There I saw the reports of massive lines already forming in the bigger cities, and even some smaller ones. I started to get nervous and called Walmart to check the situation. You can imagine my despair when the worker told me there was already a big line. I then asked if they were already all spoken for. He went to check for what seemed an eternity, then came back and told me 21 of the 28 were already taken. I couldn't believe it. I jumped in my car and made the long drive as quick as I could. All I remember is there were deer all over the place but I wasn't slowing down. When I got there and walked back to the game section, my throat was dry and I was expecting the worst. However, I made it in time and became number 23. Happy, but then it dawned on my I'd probably be stuck with the purple GameCube. I really didn't like it and wanted black. However, it seemed most people ahead of me were choosing purple so I even go the black GameCube I wanted. I drove home much more slowly and content. I didn't even play it when I got home, but went to bed and played the next morning.

One thing I do remember is the kid with his mom in front of me throwing a fit. He got his GameCube but had forgot about the memory card. He ran back to pick one up but discovered they were sold out. That must have sucked.

I voted for Baten Kaitos Origins. It's a good rpg. However, I liked the first one better because of the battle system. It's probably the only rpg I've ever played in which I purposely looked for battles because the battle system was so much fun. Hated the changes they made to it for Origins.

I normally wear cargo pants/shorts so the side pockets come in handy for carrying it around. I'm now at 7 street passes, 3 of which I've gotten near my house which isn't bad. If I'm leaving the house, I usually have it with me.

I've found Street Passes extremely hard to get. I now have 4 and that's only because I've been traveling. I got the first at the Columbus Zoo in Ohio. Then I got one walking around my neighborhood which nearly shocked me. I walk atleast an hour every day and usually carry it with me. It was a surprise when I got home and actually saw the green light. Then, I carried the 3DS with me at Universal Studios in Orlando Florida and picked up 2 there. It's always a nice feeling when you see the green light. Too bad it doesn't happen more often.

Finally! Got my FIRST street pass today, lol. Had to go all the way to the Columbus Zoo to get it. Too bad I wasn't there very long. I noticed it within an hour of opening so I thought I might get a few. But had to leave at noon and only got the one. Atleast I know my 3DS works anyway :)

My first impressions from watching the trailer was "meh", more of the same. The GCN game was my favorite game for that console because it was all so new. I wish I could see the amount of time I put into that game.

I quickly bought the DS version when it released and quickly grew tired of it because it was just more of the same.

I also bought the Wii version when it released, and again, felt it was just too similar to the others.

I'll probably buy the 3DS version when it releases but I expect I'll get that been there, done that feeling while playing. We've already collected all the fossils, caught all the fish, and collected all the bugs. Please put something else in there! And please shakeup the clothes/furniture sets. I don't want to find an MVP shirt and collect the Kiddie set of furniture for the 4th time.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: WiiWare Games Worthy of Buying
« on: June 05, 2011, 06:46:35 PM »
I'd echo many of the games already posted.

Nyx Quest is a nice relaxing game.

I bought all 5 of the Monkey Island games and enjoyed them all. I do realize you can get them cheaper at other places but I'm not a PC gamer.

Rage of the Gladiator: This is the only demo I've tried that I then bought afterwards. If you like the PunchOut series, you'll probably enjoy this. Same set up, only set in mid-evil times. Plus, you don't have to use motion control if you don't want.

World of Goo...fun and hilarious.

I've bought a few more but those are probably my favs.

I'm already on the list above (NintendoDad---Jason) but I've now added everyone on it. There are several that it appears have just posted their code and left. It takes two to make this work ;)

It'll just be Super Mario Land and the free Excitebike for me. Most of the good DSi games like Shantae and Mighty Flip Champs I already have on my XL. I'm not transferring them over. Would rather have the larger screen.

I've had the 3DS since 1 week after launch. I've carried it with me probably 40% of the time, including every time I'm going to a store such as the mall, or whatever. Not 1 street pass yet.

Around 3 weeks in, have carried it with me nearly every day, still not one street pass. I haven't been to the local mall yet. I figure that will be my only chance unless I go traveling or the 3DS takes off.

I agree with much of this review. It's better than people give it credit for but would have been so much better with Bongo support. According to my Wii log, I played this around 20 hours before accomplishing everything I wanted to. I also didn't like the fact that Cranky Kong was not cranky in this game. What was that all about? He should have been throwing insults. Are you sure this game is $50? I picked it up for around $10 a couple years ago. No way it's worth $50 though.

TalkBack / Re: Is Q2 2011 Really That Bad?
« on: April 08, 2011, 09:54:15 PM »
It's definitely bad but these dry spots never bother me. I've got 6 or 7 Wii titles I'd still like to purchase and play through, 15 or so DS games, and 5 or 6 WiiWare/DSi titles. Plus I've been messing with my 3DS and don't even have a game for it yet. I'll be plenty busy.

Does anyone know what the range is as far as connecting with someone else? And how long you have to be in that range? I was wondering if it was possible to Street Pass someone waiting at a stop light in a car.

I've carried my 3DS around with me 2 days and have had 0 contacts. Not surprising. I live in a town of only around 30,000 people and most areas are not crowded. I figure my only chance is heading to the mall on a busy Saturday.

After debating for much of the week between nothing and Pilot Wings, I think I've talked myself in to Pilot Wings. I can take the $25 credit from Amazon and get it for $15, which is probably what it's worth. Rayman was the other but I've read bad things about it. Nothing else is interesting to me.

TalkBack / Re: My Thoughts on Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility
« on: May 06, 2009, 10:38:35 PM »
I really enjoyed Tree of Tranquility. I put over 90 hours into that game. Reading the impressions brought back some memories because it's been a few months since I played it. However, I would really try to play the game without a strategy guide in hand if possible. It's much more fun discovering a new mine on your own.

As for Rune Factory Frontier, that's what I'm playing right now, around 65 hours into it. I love it but because of the dungeon fighting, my wife won't touch it. She played ToT more than I did. Anybody looking to get started with Frontier, take my advice and read up about the Runey's when you first start playing. The manual explains little about them, the game doesn't tell you much, and yet the management of them are vital if you want your crops to keep growing. You can really make things tough if you ignore them.

I've played most of the Harvest Moon games and like most, the first one on the GCN was my least favorite, A Wonderful Life I think it was. But the second one on the GCN, Magical Melody was very fun and compares to ToT.  I also thought Friends of a Mineral Town on GBA was good. Out of the 2 Rune Factories on the DS, I loved the first one but could never get into the second one for whatever reason.
