TalkBack / Re: Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call Review
« on: September 29, 2014, 01:19:14 PM »
I held off buying the original b/c I was hoping for a GOTY edition that included all of the DLC.

Looks like I got my wish, only with even more music and more to do in the game.

Going to have to pick this up, though probably just have someone get it for me for like Christmas.

Glad to see you ended up having fun with the game. I know most of the podcasters were not looking forward to the game that much, but hey 8.5 is awesome. Can't wait to play the game. I agree on knocking it for no online co-op, that still stinks.

Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 393: Tower of Drillaga
« on: August 10, 2014, 09:31:51 AM »
Been listening for 200+ episodes, this is the first one I just had to stop listening to because I couldn't take it anymore. You guys need to ease up on all the negativity. I got thru about 80 minutes of it, and I'd say 70 minutes was complaining, 5 minutes positive on Nintendo games, 5 minutes positive on Rogue Legacy.

I get it, you all hate WiiU and are luke warm about 3DS. Online in WiiU is either absent/bad. Let's just not beat a dead horse, shall we?

Even Mario Land 2, which I think you guys liked, no one actually wanted to compliment it. Saying, it's "Weird as f***" and "an acid trip" and "they were crazy making this" aren't exactly complimenting a really fun game. And right before finishing talking about the game saying it's good doesn't count as being positive.

But whatever, this is the way the show has been trending the last year. Even Guilleme got in on the bashing this episode, he's usually the one positive guy.

TalkBack / Re: Mega Man Puzzle Swap Released, Now in All Regions
« on: August 07, 2014, 03:33:57 PM »
Thank goodness. I have/had actually collected all the current pink pieces and only had like 40 blue pieces to obtain. At least this will make Swapping worth it for a bit longer. And a cool one for sure this time being Mega Man!

If this is a case of "Pre-order at any participating retailer and get all this" - I'm fine with that.  Nintendo's been doing that for years.

Saying you get a figurine for preordering somewhere vs getting part of the game for preordering the game are totally different.

I find it somewhat hard to believe Nintendo would do this in such a way to give real disincentive for people to buy the game in the way that makes them the most money, namely the eShop.

Nintendo needs people to realize there are Nintendo games/systems being sold. They need them to go to the store and see Zelda. Making incentives for the eshop only helps people who already own WiiU. They need new people to buy WiiU.

Thing is that they're just costumes. No real impact on the gameplay. Also it's not like they wouldn't be available later on on the eShop. Even for a small fee. Hell they might even be unlockable in the game.

... this isn't new to Nintendo. They've been doing this with pokemon since forever. But yes game freak isn't technicaly 1st party. But 2nd Nintendo still has a say. And knowing how Nintendo is still trying to push the eshop, the DLC will be available from there after about 2-3 months after release for about $1-2 dollars each. Except maybe the club exclusive. So stop whining about it. Nintendo has never actively tried to keep game content from the players.

As for you 2, you need to criticize Nintendo when it's warranted. They are going to keep pushing the button harder on DLC to see if their fans balk. If you guys keep hoo-huming and justifying it, we'll all be paying $5 for hidden dungeons that used to be in a game within a year or two.

56
Retail exclusive DLC... we didn't want/ask/demand this Nintendo. Why are you going down this dark path?

I want to blame Gamestop, EA, Activision, Ubisoft and Square Enix... possibly in that order.

Wasn't as long as I was hoping, but that was unique and different. A for effort, C on execution.

Nintendo's not going bankrupt any time soon, and they probably will break even this year. So let's all not think, "Nintendo is doomed" or "Nintendo is dominating" anytime soon.

Why has a Schmup been ice cream-ified? The gameplay looks solid, but you're riding an ice cream cone... I don't know what to do with this trailer!

Pushmo with sharing via Miiverse is going to be a blast. Once I beat a few other games I've recently, absolutely picking this up. Have 80+ hours sunk into the first 2 games combined.

60
Free games? Im always down for that!  Hunting game sounds interesting.

Alex speaking positive things about a Nintendo game? Wow this really is a good E3 for Nintendo. Hope some of this carries over into the next podcast. Would love to hear you not be a debbie downer for 80% of the time talking about Nintendo games.

TalkBack / Re: E3 2014 Predictions
« on: June 03, 2014, 12:12:24 PM »
"Nonsense Predictions: Mario American Football. By Next Level Games."

I wanna see this happen, because I want EA to see how a good football game is made. They forgot how to make them about 3-4 years ago.

64
This is a good sign, but it doesn't mean Nintendo can breath easy.

I don't think they will, it's already been announced they have 4 announced games to unleash at E3.

But since they are now selling WiiU at a profit, they are pretty much in the clear. They just need WiiU to tread water like Gamecube did, and 3DS can make them the money. I think they will try for better than that, but this pretty much cancels out the "DOOOOOMED" nonsense and comparing it to Virtual Boy. Because Virtual Boy had no weekend like this past weekend, and Smash is still coming in 2015.

Has to be a surprise quality title on WiiU.

Considering there will be 0 marketing for this game, I hope people try it out and pass the world along. Sounds like something certainly worth picking up.

66
Looking forward to it. Just hope there is a level where Tingle is there - and your mission is to sever his head from his body, permanently killing him off from the Zelda universe. This will be the only part of the game that will be considered cannon for the timeline.

Sounds like the game isn't finished based on the review. Well that's a depressing thought.

Already have it preordered, but sounds like most people will stop playing this within a month of launch.

This is not the system seller we are looking for.

Sounds like the game will need updates from Nintendo, but we know that isn't happening.

Editing myself since I can't find the button:

Just read the Nintendo Life review. Almost sounds like you guys played two different games. Weird.

Clocked a time for the 2nd tourney. Can't believe I'm not even close to the lead, felt like I was flying.

70
Has anyone figured out how to hack this already?  I always like the idea of these tournaments but it seems like it is always just a matter of time before someone figures out how to cheat their way to victory.  If not, I've been a loyal viewer of this website for many years and hosted tournaments might be reason for me to get this game!

No, thankfully after about 36 hours, no one has hacked the game yet.

I added the community to my list. Looking forward to playing with people!

Capcom has it's good days and bad days. Clearly this is a good day. Glad they are going to support WiiU. Somebody needs to.

Whoever over at Nintendo had the common sense to make a deal for Monster Hunter and this, bravo.

We've always had delays with games, but now with the internet and social media and the need for constant info, delays feel like they are so much more painful than ever before.

But Indy devs, as stated, have no clue how long it takes to make a game.

TalkBack / Re: Mario Golf: World Tour Review
« on: April 25, 2014, 12:22:08 PM »
"Players can make their own tournaments, too, and those can be shared publicly or privately. Tournaments have tons of options, letting you limit the characters, hand-pick the holes, and mess with the wind."

Well that settles it. Game of the Year. Nintendo can cancel Smash on 3DS, because it won't hold a candle to this kind of online play.

TalkBack / Re: Mario Golf: World Tour Review In Progress
« on: April 24, 2014, 10:55:39 AM »
A little disappointed that the "RPG" mode is so short, but I guess they'll never top the ridiculous GBC Mario Golf RPG mode.  The ending of that story mode is so strange, I mean it basically ends with corruption at the top of the club management and a gigantic cover-up.  SO WEIRD!

Either way, I'm definitely picking this game up, always preferred Mario Golf to Tennis.

There was no cover, see. Mario's never been beaten, see. You keep your mouth shut or you'll be swimming with the fishes, see!

Yeah, that was one of the more bizarre video game endings, and in a sports game to boot. As long as the courses are fun and online as robust as it sounds it will be, I could see this being one of my most played games.

$15 for DLC is still SO VERY WRONG though.
