Most retail rewards programs usually reward a single point for every DOLLAR spent, so this actually pretty nice.

Nifty! I like the idea of a bubble resistant overlay... I dunno how many times I've attempted to use a protector on my DS, only to have a tiny bubble show up. I'll need to pick one of these up whenever it is that I buy a Wii U.

"Enhances user experience"

I wish Nintendo would go into a little bit more detail with their descriptions.  It's sort of insulting to me.

"Enhances user experience" is code for "A bunch of boring, technical crap that you really wouldn't care hearing about, because it's boring, technical crap."

The Genesis clock speed was faster than the SNES, but that ended up meaning dick in the long run.

TalkBack / Re: Wii U Becomes Profitable After One Game Sale
« on: November 25, 2012, 10:33:55 AM »
That's awesome.  How are the sales lately though?  In my store and a few others I've seen you can still easily get a WiiU.  That makes me anxious.

I've yet to see a system in the wild, so could be regional or people that really wanted one ordered online.

Maybe he is talking about the scene where Batman swings onto a building but the game has Batman falling through the ceiling (as if its not there) and into nothing.

Let's be honest... you can probably find a similar glitch in nearly every other 3D polygon based game ever made if you try hard enough. Hell, Super Mario 64 speed runs are based on such glitches.

Sounds cool to me, though I'd think nearly everyone on the planet already owns a Wii at this point.

I've got enough coins again to double dip and get a second one.... buuuut I think I'll opt not to be a dick and let someone else have a shot. :)

I'm certain that kind of functionality can be added via a firmware update. I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of updates from now to this time next year. :)

TalkBack / Re: Retiring the Wii
« on: November 18, 2012, 09:50:52 PM »
I am really considering just moving my Wii to another TV and not transferring anything.  I am not sure there are any advantages for me in having everything on 1 system.  So until they make the games playable on the game pad I will leave things as they are.

That's my plan, besides, both systems are small enough you could just stack 'em. I guess it's like how the Wii treated Gamecube games... once you booted the Wii into Gamecube mode, it literally became a Gamecube.

TalkBack / Re: Server Stress and Broken Systems Vex Wii U Launch
« on: November 18, 2012, 09:06:57 PM »
And this is why I generally don't get systems at launch.

My question is... is this update mandatory before you play any games? Cause, I mean, you could wait out the server outages by, I dunno, playing video games?

I would imagine there's some sort of standard minimum price.

So, was the actual LCD screen damaged, or was it just the clear plastic cover? Cause you can get replacements for those on ebay for a few bucks a pop.

As for the battery springs, I have found that using vinegar can help get rid of some of the corrosion.

Also, jealous of that Zelda SP. :P

Seriously, why the hell would anyone expect Nintendo to let you use a standard formatted hard drive for this?

Because standard SD cards exist and we can use that. Plain and simple.

But this gives me hope. This gives me hope that hackers will go to town on the Wii U and obliterate the arbitrarity.

Yes. Huzzah for piracy.

Those look awesome, but I'd be annoyed by the way the episodes are chopped up out of order. Aside from the cases, are there any sort of extras on the discs?

Pokémon Chronicles is quite possibly the worst thing 4Kids ever dubbed (well, of the Pokemon series anyway), I'd prefer to just pretend it never existed.

Even a free copy of the latest Mario game isn't enough to make me dare venture out into the insanity of Black Friday.

TalkBack / Re: Miyamoto Shares Thoughts On Wii U F-Zero, Metroid
« on: November 04, 2012, 05:47:17 PM »
I'm sure that this has more to do with sales of the series than anything else, which is fine, Nintendo is a company and their objective is to make money, but saying there's nothing new to do with it seems like a stretch to me.

Considering that both the last few F-Zero games, as well as the cartoon bombed in Japan (in fact, they only dubbed half of a season into English before giving up on that), it's no wonder Nintendo is wary of making another installment.

Plus, it seems to be more polite to say that rather than "Well, none of you idiots bought the damn games, so it's your fault".

Up until I read this, I fully expected Freakyforms to be a $39.99 game.

Now... hmmm... this might be just perfect as a download then.

So the video chat Nintendo showed off at E3... is that something that's basically OS based (meaning, to use it, you'd have to suspend the game you are currently playing and open it up from the main menu, sort of like how the web browser is used on the 3DS)?

Reel Fishing Ocean Challenge - 500 Points
Get hooked on this, Natsume's third entry of the WiiWare Reel Fishing series, and tackle the challenges the Ocean hides within its depths. Do you find fishing simulators a-lure-ing? Can you salmon the courage to wrangle Lunkers in exotic locales? Then maybe Reel Fishing Ocean Challenge is for you.
Good Cod those were some bad fish puns. Oh well, I guess you wrote them just for the Halibut.

Personally, I found they were complete pain in the bass. I trout they could come up with worse.

It's like the movie "The Room". Everyone acknowledges that it's absolutely terrible, but it's still fun to watch.

Meanwhile, I've yet to have time to even OPEN the copies I purchased...
