Upcoming Chances for Coins

by Matthew Blundon and James Jones - July 26, 2010, 7:41 am EDT

Here are some upcoming titles, and important dates to keep in mind to maximize your coin total.

To conclude these tips, we've taken what we know about Nintendo's release schedule through the end of the 2010 calendar year and come up with some important dates for getting the most out of your purchases.  This list is incomplete as some games don't have release dates yet, but it will help you put all the previous tips to use.

where are these tips?

TJ SpykeJuly 26, 2010

I don't see a list, I do have some tips though:

1)Always indicate that you intend to buy a game that appears on the Club Nintendo site. You will have like 3 years to register the game to get those 10 bonus coins.
2)Try to buy and register a game as close to the release date as possible, you get bonus coins if you register a game within 3 weeks of its release.
3)Don't forget to do all follow-up surveys for those extra 10 coins.
4)Remember to link up your Wii Shop Channel account with your Club Nintendo account so that all Virtual Console and WiiWare purchases will automatically contribute coins to your account.

Click on the other pages over on the right sidebar.

Shouldn't there be a "next page" button at the bottom of the article?

no one is looking to click in a table of contents off to the side to get through the article.

Yes, yes, and yes.  It's a bug, we're working on it.

Undone by a link.

I think I remember seeing an expiration date of about a month the last time I filled out an "intend to buy" survey.

Maybe they changed it? I just checked and it says I have until February 16, 2014 to register Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and get the 10 coin bonus.

Hmmm, interesting. Perhaps, for some reason, they are really pushing Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon? It's the only game on my "Earn Coins" list that sits there asking me to register it, though I don't remember ever filling out an "Intend to Buy" survey.

I'm actually tempted to pick up Link's Crossbow Training - $25 for 50 Club Nintendo points, a WiiWare game and a piece of plastic to shuck.

I have a few tips myself.

1. If you buy a used game from Gamefly you still get the Club Nintendo code.

2. Relieve your friends/family of their codes if they don't use Club Nintendo.

With each passing year, gamers are finding it increasingly difficult to collect enough coins to reach Platinum status, and too often end up in a panic at year's end.

Really?  "Each passing year"?  We *just* started the third year.

Well...it was harder this year than last. Less older games around to register.

If the past two years' Platinum rewards are any indicator, there are cheaper ways to get essentially the same thing Nintendo will give out than hoarding Club Nintendo coins.

The Gold/Platinum awards may not be anything great, but these tips will also load up your account with coins that can be spent on other Club Nintendo rewards... which are also not anything great...

You get a point for making my counter-argument for me.

The Game and Watch titles are cool.

Except I already bought the Japanese versions on eBay years ago for not much money.

Well, the posters look nice. And if Goozex can come through for me, I'll be able to trade in the Game and Watch Collections for two games I've been looking for - one of them for about a decade - so that's nice.

I know this is kinda late, but i just bought Link's Crossbow Training for under $2 and still got the 50 coins.
