We just keep running into each other like this, isn't that funny? Well, we've got some good stuff for you this week on this week's connectivity. Kid Icarus is on the horizon and there's a good amount of news and listener mail devoted (mostly) to it.

After that we take you back in time, to the days of 2007 as we go through the history of the Assassin's Creed franchise. Hopefully this will get you ready to knock off some redcoats in Assassin's Creed 3 later this year on Wii U. Finally, Andy, Grant, and Nathan discuss their ever-looming gaming backlogs.

You like this show, right? Good. Help us out by dropping a comment below or sending us an email by clicking here. Thanks, buddy.

Two things/thoughts:

1. Having a back-log of games is the most 1s worldy problem a gamer could have. That is more of a good thing then a bad thing since then you can have more choices of what to play on a regular basis.

2. I have a question about the Kid Icarus multiplayer. I have not been able to get a solid answer anywhere. Can you play the multiplayer offline without the wifi on and as a single player experience against cpus like in Star Fox 64 3D or Steel Diver's Steel Commander. I would rather play it that way so I can decide how I want the match to be like which map and stuff like that. Thanks for the help.

Hearing the backlog counts, I'm pretty sure I'm at least 2 Andys deep.

I wish I didn't have to work so I could attack it.

It doesn't matter how deep your backlog is if you're not willing to stick to only playing on games on it.

Bonus points to whomever can tell me where I got that awesome American Revolution song from.

I've actually been working on/ completeing backlogs for about 4 years now, I completed a last generation backlog of ps2 and gamecube games (but the only games i wanted to play on xbox was jet set radio future and jade empire) and then promptly started work on a Wii/DS backlog. In which i have only 2 games left on it, I'm working on super paper mario which is my last Wii game and Hotel Dusk which is my last DS game.

By the sound of it the way i do backlogs are a little different than the way you guys do. Basically by the end of the generation i make a list of all the critically acclaimed games on the system (one of the good things about metacritic is that it makes it really easy to find individual reviews), even if im not even sure i'll like them just for the sake of broadening my horizons since i allways try to play the best the system has to offer before i move on to something new.

Anyways, after i make my backlog list i don't just go out and buy everything and then have a shelf full of games taunting me, I usually never buy a new game until i've beaten (or dropped because i didnt like it) the game that i'm currently playing on the system. After I'm done with my Wii/DS backlog I'll be buying an xbox 360 and then get to start the whole backlogs thing all over again!

Personally I use http://howlongtobeat.com/ it doesn't look pretty but i love the functionality of it over other sites and the webmaster is constantly making updates to it (i tried the backloggery but I ended up using this site) If you also use that site you can find me by searching Lithium on the site.

edit:
pretty sure the  revolutionary war halflife mod that was mentioned was called Battlegrounds. There's also a version for the source engine called battlegrounds 2 i used to play it pretty often.

i dont know why the youtube tag wont work so here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yh3DMypF90I

it's a royal pain to organize a line battle though

I've made peace with the fact that I will never finish my backlog.

I own 32 retail 3DS games. Of those, I've completed zero. 10 of them haven't been inside my 3DS. And I wouldn't think twice about buying more (Kid Icarus Friday!). It's very freeing not to worry about finishing things and just have fun.

Seriously, what do you enjoy more - buying games, or playing them?

I just like to buy games as soon as I decide I want them so they're right here once I decide to play them. Then, once I have a lot of games I switch around between them regularly so I play a lot of a lot of games but don't completely finish anything. In the past week or so I've put time into about a dozen different 3DS games, but not all that much with any one of them.

I fully realize this era in which I can spend this much money on games will come to an end, and that fuels the spending even more. Once I get to the point where I can't afford games anymore I want to have a kickass library available to go back through. :)

Totally just went through that phase, and now have a shelf filled with games - many still waiting to get any real playing time.  Frankly, now that I'm in a spot where money for games has become quite limited it makes me happy every time I look at my collection and pick what gets played next. And make no mistake: all of these games are getting played eventually!

I expect that 2012 will be the first time my backlog starts to shrink in a meaningful way, instead of continuing to expand.

So exciting that Nathan is back.

In terms of backlog I've got one building up since Christmas.  I usually don't have one.  Its kind of a new annoying experience for me.

Yes to both these. I am the same way.

I've had a backlog going ever since 1999. I was too busy partying hard for Y2K to worry about all of those games I was buying.

I've been making a good dent in it since the summer last year, though. Onward! Ahoy!

Awesome to hear Backloggery mentioned. I've been a member their for over two years now.
