This will be our last full-length episode of 2014, and we tried to fill it to capacity with game impressions and email-driven topics. New Business features long-awaited, much-requested appearances by both Bayonetta 2 and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. Other games we've been playing include the Phoenix Wright Trilogy, Miiverse, Donkey Kong: King of Swing (via Clu Clu Land), classic PC shmup Tyrian 2000, and a follow-up on Xeodrifter.

We've been getting tons of awesome emails lately, and this episode can't possibly cover all of them. We do squeeze in correspondence about the Amiibo distribution fiasco, the animated Mario movie, possible exclusives to push the New 3DS launch, and a very special Smash Bros. online match. Things could change, but we hope to record an emails-only special edition of the show to be released around New Year's Eve, so you don't have to wait too long before the next RFN fix. If for some reason that doesn't happen, we hope you'll have a great holiday break and thank all of you for supporting us through another excellent year for the podcast. Special thanks to those of you who donated to our Episode 400 project and/or the Child's Play telethon -- we truly appreciate your help in enabling these crazy events.

And hey, a lot could happen over the next couple of weeks. Take a few minutes to send an email about late-breaking topics, or just tell us about the games you received for a holiday. Above all, take care and have fun!

This episode was edited by Guillaume Veillette. The "Men of Leisure" theme song was produced exclusively for Radio Free Nintendo by Perry Burkum. Hear more at Bluffs Custom Music.

Is Ace Attorney 123 the same as JP release minus Japanese script? Did they add other languages or something? Not sure why it took so long to come otherwise.

So many people online screaming about how Nintendo's horrible for not keeping certain figurines on-the-shelf and available, when if they did a little research in manufacturing costs, distribution costs, and retail costs, could paint a pretty good picture of why you may not see a 2nd run of the Marth figure.  Dumbing it down, it all boils down to actual expected demand, cost to produce the figures, retail shelf space, and opportunity cost of doing a second run of Marth vs proceeding with a new character.  I know gamers don't necessarily care about the business/supply chain side of video games, but in a case like this, the detail is especially important to understand why Nintendo is doing this, even if you still feel like you're personally being screwed over because of it.

The whole topic is pretty messy as is.

As for Phoenix Wright Collection, I think it has the original Japanese. As far as I know the only reason Capcom held off releasing it here was economic.

As a new 3DS owner (from New Zealand) I hate to break it to you, but the new 'nub' would be utterly unusable as a 2nd stick.
It has almost zero tactile feedback, its just a hard piece of rubber, the only way you know it's even working is the fact that when you push it, something happens on the screen, like a smash attack.
I believe that apart from a few rare cases like Smash, you will find it PRIMARILY used for camera control only.

As for Amiibo discussion, rumor is that once stock is gone, they will make "card" versions of the characters. This gives me hope that we will indeed see Marth being used in a future Fire Emblem game etc, and that the Marth "chip" is pretty easily available. However, the Amiibo itself will not be.  I assume they will look like a credit card with a pretty picture. Also, if the card rumor is true, expect to see Amiibo supported well into the next cycle of Nintendo consoles. Amiibo is here to stay.

For games similar to Tyrian there's Jets 'n' Guns though IMO that's not that good.

Regarding the voice of Peach, Leslie Swan did do her voice in Super Paper Mario. Other than that, the current voice of Peach is Samantha Kelly, who also does the voice of Toad, Toadette, and Baby Peach.
