Things are getting back to normal on the show, except that Lindy has two cool games to talk about! He gets all talky on Gradius V and The Conduit, name-dropping several forum members in the process. Jonny is catching up with Half-Life, James is trying to connect his Wii to a monitor, and Greg is discovering Planet Puzzle League as well as the original Super Mario Kart.

Your listener mail brings up topics like downloadable game coverage, Wii peripheral overload, and the Wii Zapper (plus Super Scope). In a poignant bookend to Jon's featured role on the episode, we end with Let's Tap.

Just started it.

Well Lindy I may camp around your house until you play L4D with me....

Flames_of_chaosLukasz Balicki, Staff AlumnusJune 28, 2009

I actually bought Pitstop II on VC a while back for curiosity sakes. It reminds me of a poor man's version of Pole Position.

StratosJune 28, 2009

Oh, name dropping and Conduit! I wonder if he lays the smack on Kraken and I. It needs to hurry and finish D/Ling so I can listen to it.

kraken613June 28, 2009

I got a drop! He didn't mention I went up and killed him ALOT! Like he would kill me once I would kill him 6 times! lol

Lindy remember ASE football with rocket launchers! EPIC!!!

JAMES YOU SHOULD Buy High - Box component VGA convertor

http://www.gameyeeeah.com/highbox-component-to-vga-converter-p-1157.html

My review:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCZ1B3caMk4

I use it and love it. 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p

With shipping about $60.

It has a pass through port so I can use my monitor and not have to disconnect anything. I just push a switch to switch between Wii and computer.

AVJune 28, 2009

Here is a cool let's tap video. Similar to what Jonny talked about.

They use different size boxes to see what works.

Epic Win.

I still think Donkey Konga drums version of Let's Tap would be awesome.

kraken613June 28, 2009

I just drove down to Blockbuster and rented Lets Tap. I will be doing a video!

I will try it on/in these:

Wii Wheel
Zapper
Tiger Woods 10 M+ Box
Balance Board
DSi
DSi Box
DS Game box
Wii Game Box
Another Wiimote
Classic Controller
360 Controller
A random giant box
Gamcube
DK Bongos

I might have more so you will have to watch! lol It will be dedicated to Lindy!

Unfortunately don't have my Rock Band drums where I am now.

EDIT: Just shot and edited the video! I am processing the video right now then I will put it up on Youtube!

kraken613June 29, 2009

Listening to it now. I'll play Team Fortress with you once I get my new computer next month, Jonny.

I heard Lindy's wife on WiiSpeak saying "So I point it at the screen like this?" and I was like "Is that Mrs. Lindy? Hi!" So we all said hi to Mrs. Lindy. I believe she also shot me once. Good for her.

StratosJune 29, 2009

MMmm...trolling Jonny's Gamer Grub blog. One of my favorite past times ;)

I'd like to defend my review output a bit.

1) I'm a college student and it is summer. I have a summer job three days a week during the day. Other than that, I have free time. This is something a lot of other staff members lack.

2) Pale's been away for two weeks and he does our shipping. I have been able to buy important games (Tiger Woods, GST) in the interim.

3) Where's Rune Factory, James?

Yeah James, where is Rune Factory?

Why don't you guys just farm out VC and WiiWare reviews out to the forum, and post the best ones on the front page?  I'm willing to bet that between all of the people on the forum, if people knew that there was a chance of ending up on the front page, that you could get decent reviews of most of the games that come out.  I know I would do a few here and there if I thought there was a chance I'd get out on the front page.  Might be a good chance to feature your awesome community (that's us) on your main site as well.

Just a thought.

Thanks for reading my letter, even if NONE OF YOU had used the stupid Zapper shell that I've come to love so dearly.  Not love.  Like.  Kind of.

I think the fact that I, the crazy nut who buys way too many VC games, haven't bought any of the VC games that have come out so far this whole year shows how bad things have been.

StratosJune 29, 2009

Yeah, I've noticed your VC/WW numbers in your sig haven't grown much recently. And that's saying something because you buy a lot of them.

TheFleeceJune 29, 2009

Thanks for reading my letter, I feel like peripherals have become a form of shovelware in that there seems to be no end to them regardless of how many iterations exist already. And yeah I meant these forums entirely ;) But damn I haven't been around in months, right?

StratosJune 30, 2009

Has it really been months? We talked about GTA Chinatown Wars a little bit back. OK, maybe that was longer than that. I lose track of time easily.

GoldenPhoenixJune 30, 2009

This is week, um 5 I think of no mention of Jungle Speed.

BTW Jonny my first HD TV was just like yours, a CRT HDTV with 4.3 and it was terrible for 360 games!

Regarding Apollo Justice: I think Capcom wants you to hate the characters in the first chapter. I liked them well enough by the end, but I think Capcom overdid how much Phoenix acts like a jerk at the start.

Coincidentally GP, this is week 5 of our strike against mentioning Jungle Speed.  We're like two ships passing in the night...

StratosJune 30, 2009

GP, you could write in a letter to the cast giving your thoughts on it. You could also mention how I referred it to my friend and his wife based on your recomendation and they love the game to death. (I still haven't gotten to go over a play it with them...)

LOL, Lindy, that was strangely hilarious.

Yeah James, where is Rune Factory?

At least Rune Factory is a 300 hour game!

Having completed the game now, I agree with this.  I still hate Trucy just because she has the worst name ever.

How can you hate Trucy?  She's adorable in that magician's outfit!

Trucy = Truly Juicy

True story

StratosJuly 01, 2009

All this Ace Attourney talk really makes me want to try them.

I never cared for the Ace Attorney games... I liked the trial portions but the investigations never really caught my eye. Eventually i will find a cheap copy and try them again.

kraken613July 02, 2009

So James, did you get your VGA Wii cables yet? Tell me how you like them and what brand they are, I want some for my 22'' widescreen in my room.

I have not.  UPS says in the next few days.

Is she even that old?  It's been a while since I played Apollo Justice, but I could have sworn she was younger than that.  But then again, considering her relationship with...that...I guess she couldn't be that much younger.

Trust me. Use the same thing I got. High-Box VGA convertor. That is the way to go. 480i, 480p, all the way until 1080p so you can play 360 if you don't have HDMI.

I have been using that to play against you online with Conduit. Having a big widescreen display is very nice

Cancel it if you can.

SHE'S FIFTEEN MAN!

You can never tell these days.

I'm just sayin'.

I've had my Wii hooked up to a computer monitor ever since I got it, but it's a special monitor that doubles as a HD TV so it has VGA, Component, Composite, HDMI, etc.  I've never had any trouble having my Wii hooked up to it via component cables, though I'm kind of curious now what it would look like hooked up via VGA.  Maybe I'll finally have a Wii game that looks as good as the screenshots companies and the press release online (something that's been bugging me since the GameCube era).  -_-'

it will look the same as yours.

The  thing I have is a convertor. It converts COMPONENT into VGA. I played Conduit on it, and I do think the game looks fantastic better than internet movies and pictures. The signal is not changed to anything superior. 480p is 480p nothing more. It does have some cool options.  I did try to play the Wii in 1080p and it worked. The problem was that it shrunk it back to 4:3 where it was 16x9 before.
