It's like the Episode V of RFNs.

But who gets custody of the kids?!

We've been out of the game for a couple weeks, but we're back, with an early release to make up for our past infractions! And this one's a doozy, too, with around 80 minutes of pure podcast.

This week we go to town on topics of all types, from Pokemon Snap's release on the Virtual Console to Manhunt 2 getting its appeal in the UK to a game retail questionnaire posed to various presidential candidates. And, of course, there's that "shocking revelation" at the end.

See ya next episode, folks!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ODEO is broke'd

Oh. Man This is heartbreaking. And good luck Jonny.
PS: Good Luck with the marriage.

ShyGuyDecember 11, 2007

Wait, what's happening??? Jonny is leaving to work in PR at Bungie Studios?

IceColdDecember 11, 2007

What's going on? I demand a press release.. (don't listen to RFN)

wulffman04December 11, 2007

*confused* WHY?

The announcement was that Mike and Karl are leaving NWR.

Of course, we all wish them well.

WISH THEM WELL, FORUM SLAVES!

Awesome. My Word Coach sounds awesome.

that Baby guyDecember 11, 2007

Are they that heartbroken about the loss to Florida? No, seriously, I'll be listening to this one in full to find out well. And there goes my forum rivals, too. I guess they couldn't handle Tebow taking the Heisman.

I'd like to point out that obscenity laws aren't inherently unconstitutional. Miller v. California established what is called the "Miller Test."

The Miller Test only applies to local standards of obscenity. It's irrelevant to a federal-level discussion of media regulation.

nickmitchDecember 11, 2007

This episode makes me sad. BOO!
But good luck with all your future ventures , guys.

But that makes matters even more irritating for publishers. Local rules over obscenity could be by federal obscenity laws if someone transports "obscene materials" (as judged by the Miller Test) over state lines.

Back in the early 2000s Attorney General Ashcroft presided over a fair number of such cases.

First Bloodworth goes Pro, then Karl leaves, then Crimm gets fired for sexual harassment...

I TOLD YOU NOT TO TELL!

BarryHDecember 11, 2007

But does Debbie in the mailroom call it a "thrilling ride"?

Karl Castaneda #2December 12, 2007

Indeed it is true, kids. I'm leaving NintendoWorldReport.com at the end of the month to pursue other opportunities. But like I said, I've got some cool specials in store for the iTunes version of my last show. I figure you guys might enjoy a surprise guest, a couple extra gag segments, etc.

If you've been listening to the podcast it's not all that surprising. Mike and Karl (Mike especially) seem to have lost a lot of interest in Nintendo lately. And while I've had some differences of opinions with both of them, it's sad to see them go. I wish you both the best of luck in the future.

Karl, are you still going to pop into the forums every now and then? If we create a What's Karl up to? thread will you share? face-icon-small-smile.gif

Hopefully this means more Evan and Windy. heart.gif

Is that a double man-crush?

Karl Castaneda #2December 12, 2007

Hah, sure, vudu, if you guys care enough to know what I'm wasting time with, I'll pop in. And I appreciate the well-wishing. face-icon-small-smile.gif

ShyGuyDecember 12, 2007

The What's Karl up to? thread has been created.

vuduDecember 12, 2007

I mentioned this in this thread, but since Karl seems to only read threads that are about him I'm going to repeat myself.

If Karl and Mike do another episode of RFN you should try to get Evan and Stan involved. It would be great to have the four guys who started the podcast together again. Plus you could all pick Beatles-pseudonyms and sing a cover version of Sgt. Pepper's. Evan gets to be George Harrison. Mike has to be Ringo.

Of course we care enough, Karl. We don't support your school, but we'll support other stuff. Maybe you and Mike should switch to something more sensible?

I talked to Stan, and he's going to come on and riff a little bit. That segment's only going to be in the Special Edition, though (iTunes feed ONLY), so you'll have to be subscribed to hear it.

Awesome, one more voyage for Nintendo Pirate Radio.

What's this crap all about? I hope you're joking, because not all of us own an iPod. I have little use for iTunes on my computer.

PaleMike Gamin, Contributing EditorDecember 17, 2007

On remote syncing.

When friends bring wiimotes over you do not sync them with the buttons!

Basically, this is Nintendo's solution to multiple wiis that may be close by.

There are two types of syncing, perma syncing and temp syncing.

Perma syncing works by pushing the buttons on the wiimote and wii.

Temp syncing is done from the pause menu. If you go there and pick the reconnect remotes option and push 1 and 2 on all your controllers, even non-synced remotes will work.

I do this every time I travel to my parents house. It works!

that Baby guyDecember 17, 2007

I just learned about the temporary sync today. For fun.

CalibanDecember 17, 2007

Pale F-T-W!

IceColdDecember 17, 2007

Wait, people didn't know that?

Huh.

Huh, I thought temp synching was only useful for changing the order of controllers already perma-synched to that system. I could swear that we tried it in the hotel incident with no luck, but perhaps not.

temp-syncing always works for me!

UltimatePartyBearDecember 19, 2007

It only seems to work for me when the Wii is expecting it, like on the Wii Sports menu option for adding players. If I try to do it on the Wii Menu, nothing happens. I'll have to try Pale's method next time I get a chance.
