Round 2... FIGHT!

Even though I'm all the way in Atlanta this week, I managed to find a Wi-Fi signal long enough to record RFN! Joining me this week are Mike and Windy, so you know there's going to be another argument about Nintendo and third parties.

Aside from that, though, we discuss the recent announcements at the Smash Bros. website, speculate on Guitar Hero III, and argue over whether or not Pokémon would make a good MMO.

We didn't get a lot of listener mail this week, folks, so I implore you: SEND US MORE MAIL! Mike has promised to read the first email sent out after this episode goes live this week, so whatever you want read on RFN will be. It's up to you!

Until then, have a great week, everyone.

Crap I haven't listend to this yet!

This one has surprisingly few rage-inducing comments for me...

And you guys had a great discussion on third parties! They're always on auto-pilot in Nintendo's shadow, some of 'em really need to take the time to be more... well... themselves on Nintendo systems.

Sklens is once again way off. Can we get a list of these monthly 360 third party exclusive AAA harcore seal of approval games? A LIST.

Plus Nintendo already offers third parties the incentives of cheap dev kits, cheaper overall game budgets, and shorter game development cycles, not too mention the soon to be largest customer base. What else should they do? NINTENDO IS NOT A WHORE FOR DATA EAST'S PATRONAGE.

To add to that Shyguy, I am left wondering: Just what are xbox 360's killer apps?

I mean the systems been out for what two going on three years now and I still don't see what exclusive great games the system has.

Gears of War and uh.....

.... HD.

But seriously, Mass Effect and Halo 3 soon. Incidentally, the best selling X360 game of 2007 is Guitar Hero 2.

CalibanAugust 12, 2007

Madden, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Eternal Sonata, Halo 3, Blue Dragon, Stranglehold, Project gotham 4, The Orange Box, Ace Combat 6, Guitar hero III, Call of Duty 4, Army of Two, Assassin's Creed...I think these are probably going to be their best sellers for the Holiday, however it doesn't mean they will be AAA games.

Thanks Caliban.

Although you have to take into consideration that most of the games I named aren't true 360 exclusives, some of them are timed exclusives (either by development issues on PS3, or by contract) so in the end the 360 might not have that much of a line-up, however they do have the advantage of having some of those games before the PS3 and they do have a higher installed base for now, but then again the PS3 owners are hungry for games, so in the end I think both HD systems will be balanced in terms of game line-up.

In no way am I mis-judging the great line-up that Wii has in store for us...gawd, just thinking of it I see the Nintendo execs and stock owners drowning from all that revenue...maybe Miyamoto will come up with a swimming game for the Wii hahaha.

Actually Caliban I was asking what killer apps the 360 has on it now (seeing as how it has a 2-3 year head start one the Wii).

but ty for the list of upcoming games =)

When I get a 360, the games I pick up will be:

Gears
Oblivion (may not like it, but I want to try it)
Crackdown
Dead Rising
Blue Dragon

Those are just the ones that are already out. Notice there are no first-person shooters on my list. Btw, I'm waiting for $300 with hard drive and the cooler CPU.

I wouldn't say they are killer apps from my point of view, but they probably have sold considerably well, so this is what what they have released so far (give or take a few titles that I forgot to mention):

- Gears of War, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Crackdown, Rainbow Six Vegas, Dead or Alive 4, Dirt, DDR Universe, Guitar Hero 2, ES4 Oblivian, Forza 2, F.E.A.R., Viva Pinata.

It's not much of a list considering the 360 came out 2-3 years ago, but I blame that on high dev costs and even longer dev time, imagine it as if they had a steep learning curve for 360 game development. The same thing is bound to happen with the PS3.

TY Caliban =)
