My Pokemans: Let me show you them.

Yes, we know: this show is super-late. We ran into a couple snags after recording last week, and as a result, it took a few extra days to get things going. You have our most sincere apologies, and a promise that we we'll do whatever we can to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Okay, now that I'm done kissing ass...

It's Poke-Mania, folks! Jonny's got the game, Mike's got the game, and I've got... Yu-Gi-Oh. Don't worry about me, guys, as I should be getting the game sooner or later, and when I do, I'll be sure to give you all some impressions. Until then, enjoy this episode, where we'll wax academic on topics such as the March NPDs, Nintendo stock, and a big ol' retrospective on our time with the Pokemon franchise. Hope you enjoy it, and see you again on Wednesday!

Love the podcast guys like always, ya know if any of yall ever get tired of the editing part, I have lots of professional audio editing programs just lying around my computer, and if I even want anything more like a professional recording studio and more access to more audio equipment I am able to get to it through my school. So if anyone gets tired of editing, hit me up, I could easily edit the monster easily within a day or less face-icon-small-happy.gif.

Keep up the Awesome work~!

Good job on the podcast Karl. face-icon-small-smile.gif

I've never really been into the Pokemon, being as I was in my late teens at the time.they came out. One can't deny how big of a phenomenon for Nintendo they are.

Pokemon TGC for GBC was the shiz.

Widescreen options aren't necessary a deal breaker, but some games have a more cinematic feel when you have widescreen enabled. For Twilight Princess for example, I've played them both on a widescreen and full screen Tv's. Its tough to go back to full screen, since Twilight Princess has those wide landscapes.

For other games like Super Paper Mario, its not that different. The extra real estate is nice, but I don't miss it when I play it on a full screen TV. But as mentioned earlier, Hi-Definition and Widescreen go hand in hand, so you get the best of both worlds if you're shopping for HDTV's.

I remember my exposure to Pokemon back in middle school. There was a student from Japan who just came to America and I noticed him playing a green cartridge (Pokemon Green?). I asked him what he was playing and he said that in English it would be called 'Pocket Monsters.' I didn't think much of it at the time, it looked like a decent RPG, nothing too stellar.

Then when high school started, the whole Pokemon craze hit America. I remember there a few kids in my class who played it, and traded voraciously but like Jonny and Mike Sklens, I was out of the age demographic.

My real exposure to Pokemon came when my little cousin (who's not so little now, the kid's built like an ox!) came over to stay the week 6-7 years ago. He brought his N64 with Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Yellow. I indulged him in the battles, as he kept beating me with his high level Pokemon and me with 'rental' Pokemon. Even back then I thought this would make for a great MMORPG...

So is the upcoming Pokemon Wii game just a prettier version of Pokemon Stadium? Same restrictions with friend codes and everything?

I was the kid that knew what Pokemon was before it came to America. I must have watched that Nintendo Power preview video at least fifty times. I think I was the first person in my entire town to buy pokemon cards, and immediately got the best one, too, luckily. I also pushed several of my friends to get into the series. Before the actual games came out, I was about sick of the anime, and I dropped fanaticism pretty quickly, I think. I still collected the cards, though, until the Team Rocket set. At that point, I realized that they were going to continually release new cards, and I had no decent chance, with a normal sized wallet, at least, to collect them all. I did get the entire base set before then, and all but two of the Jungle set, as well. Anyways, I still enjoy the games pretty much, and I'm going to pick up one of the new ones tomorrow. I see no point to catch them all in the games, though. In fact, I made it a rule to only catch ones that I will use until I go most of the way through the game, just because.

Yep. But Pale says it has better online features than the DS game, like true random battles.

Yeah, supposedly it features true random battles and customizable trainers to give yourself a more original appearance. A preview is in the works. I'm still working on confirmation on a lot of these thigns though.

You just needed to complete some side quests and earn a bigger wallet.

I bought Pokemon Blue just to see what all the hubbub was about, but I was so far out of the demographic range (in college) that I never even saw anyone on campus playing a Game Boy, let alone Pokemon, so I never got to do any trading. The online trading aspect of Diamond and Pearl intrigues me, but it would still be impossible to "catch 'em all" at this point, so I doubt I'd go very far.

PB, catching them all may seem impossible, but the trainer card upgrade you get for filling your pokedex subtracts out the legendaries, so it shouldn't be that hard to get. Also, there is a WiFi enabled version of Mystery Gift which could potentially be used to have online events that unlock access to the unobtainable legendaries.

The only legendary I'm really stressed about right now is Celebi. I want one, but not a hacked one.

Do you guys understand how stock prices and company value works? Just because a company has a high stock price doesn’t mean it has a high market cap.

For example, Google’s current stock price is about $465 per share; Microsoft’s is about $30 per share. Does this mean that Google is worth more than 15 times what Microsoft is? Hell no. Google only has 311 million shares outstanding, which gives it a market cap of about $145 billion. In comparison, Microsoft has over 9.5 billion share outstanding and its market cap is almost $290 billion. The market value Microsoft twice as highly as it value Google.

You can’t really judge a company’s value by its share price.

Also, fun fact, Berkshire Hathaway’s A shares (BRK.A) are currently trading at around $108,100 each; makes Nintendo’s/Google’s stock price seem pretty low in comparison.

I don't think they were claiming that Vudu. You can't deny that having a stock valued at 465 a share shows that the company is quite stable and doing well. face-icon-small-smile.gif

Thanks for reminding me of this with the game boy camera comments.

I remember getting the red version because I saw it in NP, played it a lot, got my save game erased, and couldn't get back into it after that.
