Then send it my way and your request might be on the next episode of Radio Trivia: Podcast Edition!  Heck, throw in a question and specific songs if you want.  Just remember, it has to be a game found on a Nintendo system in North America (unless we say otherwise)!

For the first game, I made the same erroneous GBC guess as Zach after hearing the 3rd song, I completely forgot about the clue.

I never played the second game.

The third game has some of the most annoying music I've ever heard, and after hearing what it is, I can't say I'm surprised.

Great show guys!  This is the first ever show where I missed all 5!  :( :( :( :( :( :(

The show banter was very good and some of Zach's guesses were great.. but the musical selections really didn't do it for me this episode. (Partly because most weren't games I have any meaningful experience with. Partly because I just didn't like the music from those games.) Hope others enjoy the games on showcase better than I did!

2. You forgot to mention song 2's eerie similarity to the "Skerries" theme from Blast Corps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Wx3NbM-KrI

3. Surprised Zach didn't go for the climbing back to the top of the yarnball reference. Unless he did and I missed it. :)

I made the same assumption, and the same mistake, about the first game that you did, Pandareus.

I also feel that I must apologize for requesting the third game (my former handle was OneTwenty). Though I certainly don't feel passionate about it enough to fight either TYP or Zach, I do think that it can still be enjoyable to play. It's far from perfect, but I feel like people often retroactively apply their hate for its much worse sequels to this title. I had actually forgotten that I had requested that game. At least I can say that I wasn't the only one who requested it.

That being said, I feel like I must redeem myself. I'll be submitting some much better requests very soon.

I'm not sure why people found the music in Bubsy so annoying. My favorite song wasn't used in the trivia cast; Tunnel Vision found here at Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IodFDDnhqL8
I find some of the sounds that come out of the Gameboy questionable, at best, but still am able to recognize when it works within context. This music worked real well on the SNES with the style of game that was Bubsy. I remember playing Bubsy back in the day and was very impressed by the speed of the game and use of colors and sound.  ;D
Not having a Sega Genesis, I looked forward to a Sonic-style platformer and Bubsy was lots of fun.
Neat trivia - the game was developed by legends of the PC Game era: Marc Blank and Mike Berlyn. They made Zork.
As for Bubsy 3D on the PS1 - this was a launch title (or launch window) that I loved, too. For some reason I've always been engaged by the use of cool technology and Bubsy 3D was an astonishing game for the era. It was one of the few games that used the Hi-Res mode available on the PS1. Granted, it had gameplay problems, but I played that game all the way through to the end. Same with Blasto!

Bubsy 3D was nowhere near launch window, it came out in North America in October 1996 (13 months after the PS1 launched in NA).

Awesome, a new episode!

I never played the first game, but the music was kind of neat to listen to.

As soon as I heard the second game, I knew what it was. I loved DK Land even if it was hard to see the graphics! The music is unique and very memorable. I could have sworn I had requested this game in the past? Or I might be wrong.

The 3rd game's music, Bubsy, sounded so familiar, and after the game was revealed, I knew why: I used to own it before! Back then, I may not have been fully aware of the game's faults, but even I could tell something was off by the way the hero moved.

I never played the fourth game either.

I own the fifth game, Umbrella Chronicles, but didn't remember the music! I actually didn't like the game that much. It's not necessarily because of the genre either; I love House of the Dead Overkill, for example, and Dead Space Extraction was great too.

I 1/5'd on my first Radio trivia I've been able to post on. I'm usually much better. the one game I got was mainly because I am an obsessive Konami nut who loves his Parodius and Gambare Goemon ... I'm seriously surprised the Metal Gear didn't give that first one away.

the second game is something that interests me a bit because I'm of the opinion that Donkey Kong Country is a middling game at best and a frustrating game at worst. I don't think the visuals of the series aged well either. I still respect the series for what it did though, and my favorite game of all time as a result probably would not have the breathtaking visual style that it does had it not been for Mr. Miyamoto's butthurt over the visuals of this particular series. Seeing that scrunched into a Game Boy title in all of it's pea green and poor refresh rate glory would be an amazing just to see how in the cocoanuts do they handle annoying crap like the barrel cannon dreck.

TJ SpykeOctober 16, 2012

Miyamoto was not "butthurt", and he later took back his snarky comment. He was upset because the marketing guys at Nintendo rejected the original version of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and wanted him to make it look more like Donkey Kong Country. So he was angry at the marketing guys for essentially saying "we don't want to market your game, we want you to change it and make it look like this other game".

Thank you for setting the record straight with that. I had thought I heard that Super Mario World 2's graphical style was reactionary and not what happened there, TJ Spyke. I guess now I'm more upset at the marketing guys buying into Rare's pre-rendered kool-aid.

I've only played one of these games...and I whiffed on that one! :D Bad game for me!

Goldenlink18October 18, 2012

Game four was something I requested two years ago, and I am happy that it wasnt forgotten or lost. I do agree with the score it was given. The game for me is more of just a relaxing experience than an actual game.
