1. Actually, there were Pokemon TCG e-reader cards (three of which actually came with the e-reader). The cards came with two strips-one the long way which had various features such as coin flippers, minigames, etc., and another strip the short way with Pokedex info. The long strips were on cards in three sets (condensed from five in Japan), Expedition, Aquapolis, and Skyridge. The short strips continued a few sets into the Ruby/Sapphire. E-reader cards were also used in the Ruby/Sappire games, as well as Pokemon Channel. You guys really need a Pokemon fact-checker or something. Let me know if you're interested. ;)

I looked that up after we recorded. If I understand correctly, those cards don't actually have Pokemon in them, but give you items and allow you to battle additional trainers. That's kind of lame, imo.

Well Mario Advance 4 isn't nearly as egregious in the sound department as Mario Advance 2. I actually kind of like the instrumentation in the second song.

The use of SM3-SMA4 confused the heck out of me. I immediately thought it was all stars, but since I hadn't played all stars all that much... the fact that the instrumentation on the third song was so familiar had me stumped. SM3 is actually the only game I keep in my SP, but since I don't have the headphones for it anymore I rarely get to hear the sound.

I considered using a song unique to SMA4 as one of the three, but they're all pretty terrible compared with the classic stuff. The instrumentation is similar to SMAS, but certain instruments jump out as distinctly different, so I thought I'd make it a challenge. :P

1.I figured you might have looked it up later. Too bad there's no podcast annotation feature. Admittedly, this wasnot the best use of the e-reader, though there were actually some specific berries you could only get that way. Also, the Eon Ticket was distributed this way.

I'm happy to say I guessed the Mario tune. It was a tie between All-Stars and SMA4:SMB3, and TYP's question gave it away. I believe that SMA4 is a port of the All-Stars version of SMB3, but I'm not positive.

All of the Mario Advance games (except Yoshi's Island) are more or less ports from the All-Stars counterparts. There are subtle differences, documented in detail at The Mushroom Kingdom, but the graphics and music are largely lifted from the SNES renditions.
