The next Zelda game has already made history.

Zelda no Densetsu: Kaze no Takuto is only the fourth game in Famitsu history to receive a 10/10/10/10 ... a PERFECT score. The other three were Vagrant Story (yes, you read that right), the Dreamcast masterpiece that was Soul Calibur, and of course, Ocarina of Time.

Here is the official PGC translation of the reviewers' comments:

Score: 10
“It is very surprising that this game beats Ocarina of Time so shockingly. The Zelda-ness is completely intact despite it being completely new. The style is different from both realism and animation. It is a new type of game expression. The story develops with a journey across the vast sea that was never present in Zelda games before. The gameplay is, without a doubt, Zelda.”

Score: 10
“With toon rendering as a catalyst, the game world, gameplay, etc. have come together miraculously, like a chemical reaction, to become a top quality creation. I am now strongly confident that the videogame is one of the best forms of entertainment. Whatever you do is fun and enjoyable. It will make you feel that you cannot help but love this world.”

Score: 10
“I remember that I was doubtful about a world that is expressed like animation, but after playing it, I was complete reassured that this was Zelda. The emotions and characters, which are portrayed through their eye movements, are so easily understood. At times you are moved and feel like crying. Puzzle solving and fighting is also an appropriate level of diffulcty. The gameplay is also good!”

Score: 10
“Happy and sad emotions associated with events, as well as frustrations with puzzle solving, are expressed surprisingly well. As you progress through the game, the excitement builds exponentially. It will move your heart just like when you were a child and played videogames for the first time. The friendly design is such that even players that have never played the series before can enjoy the game.”
