Wii Fit U update version 1.3.0 was released on June 18, adding new courses, automation, and more to the game.
There are a total of twelve new courses both for the Walking Challenge and Climbing Challenges. The courses let players walk and climb around different areas of the world to to discover cultural and historical information. Completing these new courses will unlock new headgear for your Mii.

An independent game just in time for Independence Day.
Armillo now has a firm date of July 3 for its release on the Wii U eShop, developer Fuzzy Wuzzy Games has announced.
The game has been in development for three and a half years and has seen its debut delayed multiple times, but it's now locked in for both America and Europe with a special introductory price of $6.00/€4.50 during its first three weeks on the eShop. After that, it will bump up to its regular price of $8.00/€6.00.

FIFA 15 is making its way to the Wii and 3DS, though no version for the Wii U.

Four games from last year’s Nintendo Game Seminar are set to be released on the Wii U eShop on June 19. The games, which will be hitting Nintendo’s online store for free, were crafted by two teams of students in Tokyo and two teams of students in Osaka.

The lucky students who get in will be crafting 2D games using Unity for Wii U.
Registration for the 2014 Nintendo Game Seminar opened up in Japan this week. Interested parties have until June 29 to send in their applications. Afterward, the top 28 applicants—14 from the Kansai area and 14 from the Kanto area—will be chosen to participate in the seminar from late August to late March 2015.

It opens the possibility for an outside source to take over the majority of stock.
Capcom shareholders announced yesterday that they have voted to end their takeover defense, allowing the possibility of a takeover.
Gamasutra notes that most companies have defense blocks that disallow stock majority takeovers. However, with Capcom dropping this, these defenses have been lifted. They've originally instituted such defenses since a 2008 vote. The company's board could still opt to vote for a new plan.

A mismatch of talent came together to help construct the new Wii U title.
Mario Maker is being developed by a team consisting of many different members from other internal Nintendo groups, Takashi Tezuka revealed to us in an interview. Originally, the Mario course tools team came up with the concept, but when it was turned into a game, this new team was created to tackle the project.

Toys featuring the characters from Mario Kart 8 for Wii U are headed to McDonald’s Happy Meals for the month of July.
The toys feature Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Toad, Peach, Donkey Kong and Yoshi, as well as a Mario themed visor. These toys will be a part of a gender-split happy meal, being the boy focused version.

We might see more than just the original Mario Bros. and NSMB skins in the final version of the game.
Art assets from other Super Mario Bros. games, such as Super Mario Bros. USA, Super Mario 3, and Super Mario World are being considered to be implemented into Mario Maker, Takashi Tezuka revealed to us in an interview. While Tezuka could make no promises, he went on to say that the development team is considering the use of different skins in the the game but currently are not sure which ones they are going to use in the final version.

We have taken some of the first images of the prototype packaging for Nintendo's upcoming line of NFC figures known as Amiibo.

Could this smaller game secretly be a piece of the new Star Fox?
A Star Fox logo was found within Miyamoto's upcoming game titled Project Guard. The logo, which was discovered by a NWR staffer attending E3, can be found on the top of one of the security cameras the player can control.
