The new Sonic game will feature "seamless 3D to classic 2D camera transitions" and use Sega’s new Hedgehog Engine.

Last week's leak of Sonic information has now been proven true as Sega has officially revealed Sonic Unleashed. The game is set to be released on Wii as well as other competing home consoles. Developed by Sonic Team, Sonic Unleashed will be a change from recent Sonic games as it will involve "seamless 3D to classic 2D camera transitions." It will use Sega’s new Hedgehog Engine which is tailor-made for the speed of Sonic games.

Darrell Rodriguez joins LucasArts after being COO of Electronic Arts Los Angeles.

Today, LucasArts announced Darrell Rodriguez as their new president. He replaces former president, Jim Ward, and comes to the company from Electronic Arts Los Angeles where he was chief operating officer.

Along with his video game experience at EA, he also worked with Disney Imagineering.

The weak U.S. dollar may have been the culprit of the Wii shortage.

Game industry analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan believes the shortage of Wii systems in the United States should soon be a thing of the past.

Speaking to the Dallas Morning News, Pachter said he believes the Wii shortage was caused by the weak U.S. dollar. By selling excess product in European countries with a strong Euro, Nintendo makes more profit when the money is exchanged to their native Yen.

The first Sega Master System title and the first third-party N64 game are now available in the Wii Shop Channel.
