15,000 people will get to stand in some very long lines.

The biggest North American gaming trade show is throwing their doors open to the public.

The Entertainment Software Association announced today that the June 13-15 show will have a limited number of tickets sold for entry. 15,000 tickets will be made available on Monday, February 13 at a early-bird cost of US$150 for the three days. Should any tickets be left, the price will increase to $250.

Currently over 200 exhibitors are expected for the show, which will be the first to feature a full slate of Switch software.

I always wanted to go. With the even declining over the years, this could be what brings it back.

It's Entertainment Software Association

And if I lived near LA, I would consider it. But this will make it harder for press to actually do their job, maybe they need to do something like the Tokyo Game Show and have one day just for the press and the other days open to the public.

As cool as it would be to go to E3, it would be so crowded. At previous shows it already seemed very crowded. But with an extra 15000 people, is going to be crazy, unless they have way more space and demo units.

This has to be the ESA's ploy to bring back major publishers (the EAs and Activisions) into the fold. Unfortunately this will severely undercut the press' ability to get work done, specially niche and enthusiast sites like this one. I think E3 will go the way of PAX and other fan conventions in the future.

Having been to the show before and seen how packed things were there, I don't understand how anyone thinks adding 15,000 more people to that is a good idea in any sense. I also wouldn't really recommend going to it to most people. If I hadn't been there with the rest of the NWR crew and hadn't had a media badge it wouldn't have been a very enjoyable experience for the most part.

"E3 is getting too crowded! We need to downsize in 2007!"
