And a whole new update will add a 200CC mode as well.

A new 200CC mode is coming to Mario Kart 8 alongside the new Animal Crossing-themed Mario Kart 8 DLC pack, which is due out on April 23. While the Animal Crossing pack will be $7.99 if you didn't buy the bundle last year, the new 200CC mode is a free update that adds more speed than ever before.

The Animal Crossing pack includes Dry Bowser, both male and female Villager, and Isabelle as racers. One of the new Animal Crossing tracks changes for different seasons and features new Animal Crossing music recorded live. Two of the new karts are called the City Tripper and the Streetle.

Additionally, more Amiibo figures will be supported to add costumes to your Mii, including Sonic, Pac-Man, Mega Man, Bowser, Rosalina, Olimar, Wario, Villager, and Toad.

The whole update is due out on April 23. To recap: Animal Crossing DLC pack will cost money. 200CC mode will not.

I'm going to need 200cc of something injected into my veins after hearing about this good god

SorenApril 01, 2015

I'm assuming that in order to capture 3 minutes of non-blue shell footage at 200cc the Nintendo play testers must have logged around 300 hours.

You should be able to import your AC characters into the game for use.

ForgottenPearlApril 01, 2015

I hope 200cc is actually challenging!  I can kill Hard computers on 150cc in Versus without any trouble at all.

Careful what you post! They've already created Amiibo AC Cards. Don't cause them to start creating real plastic Amiibos of all the AC characters. The Amiibo madness is bad enough already.

I must sat that watching the 200cc footage did get me feeling a bit pumped from the speed of it. It was a feeling F-Zero GX would give me when I pushing my vehicle to max speeds in it.

2 fast 4 u!

Gotta go fast!

{insert Sanic joke here}

The only time I'm ever using this mode is on the F-Zero course.

WahApril 01, 2015

300cc plz! ;D

Spak-SpangApril 01, 2015

I would have loved the 200cc to drop all items except for mushrooms and made the levels truly about racing.

WahApril 02, 2015

MK without Items!
NO! N-O.
Items are what make a mariokart game Mariokart without you just have a generic racing game.

Luigi DudeApril 02, 2015

Oh yeah, now when I get cheap shot by a blue shell followed by 10 red shells I'll have even less chance of finishing the race.  150cc was already bullshit enough with how cheap the computer was and now Nintendo decides they want to make those cheating rubberbanding motherfuckers even faster?

Oh well, at least it's free and will make multiplayer races a lot more fun.  But for single player, nope nope nope.

Spak-SpangApril 02, 2015

Yes, and Smash Bros without items isn't Smash Bros...but sometimes a different challenge is pretty cool.

Just an item switch page like Smash Bros. would be ideal. Let people turn off the more obnoxious ones while leaving most of them in place.

Blue Shell for Smash 4?

broodwarsApril 02, 2015

I wish they had shown the other 3 courses. The Animal Crossing course changing seasons randomly ala the Excitebike course is nice, but I don't care about Nintendo's Farmville. I feel like we knew more about the courses in the first DLC pack this far out before launch.

If this were an earlier MK game, I'd actually be all for it. But in MK8? Nah. Small drivers have little to no chance of beating a heavy driver without items & then you got fire-hopping becoming the new snaking...

Yeah, feel the same way. I'm at the point now where I can't even motivate myself to get all the gold cups. 150cc tends to go the exact same way: Kick everyone's ass for the first 2 or 3 races, then CPU goes ballistic.

AdrockApril 02, 2015

I don't think I've unlocked Mirror Mode. I'm already not good at the game, but on the rare occasion where I'm nearly-flawless through the first three tracks, the CPU wrecks my life on Rainbow Road. Then, I'm so discouraged that I don't have the motivation to try again. I haven't played Mario Kart 8 for more than a lark in months.

Blue Shell for Smash 4?

Shut this thread down.

It's already an item in Smash.

AdrockApril 02, 2015

He meant as a fan voted DLC character... STOP RUINING JOKES, SHAYMIN!

Mop it upApril 02, 2015

I thought the 200cc thing was a joke when it was first shown. I almost wish it were...

WahApril 08, 2015

You guys r dead to me.
NO ITEMS IN MK WAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That' so stupid and boring!
(Put the shield up for this one)
NO ITEMS IN SMASH SUCKS TO!

KhushrenadaApril 08, 2015

I play with items. It's why I pretty much don't play any other racing game. Items in racing make it great.

There already is an item option to use only mushrooms, and a few other item options.

Doggone it, I don't think the Roy Koopa Pimpmobile can handle such speeds 250?cb=20140310174426&path-prefix=en&for
