It will be a "little longer" until we hear about release details of the Wii U game from Ninja Gaiden developer Tomonobu Itagaki.

Devil's Third, the Wii U action game from former Tecmo developer Tomonobu Itagaki, is almost done, according to the famed developer. However, it will be a little longer until final release details are announced.

Devil's Third is a blend of both the melee combat and first-person shooter genres. It is under development by Valhalla Game Studios, the studio Itagaki started after leaving Temco in 2008. ''It looks like Devil’s Third for Wii U is just about done. It’s been two years spent on designs, and four, six years of development," he said in a 4Gamer feature translated by Siliconera. "We’ve really kept all of you fans waiting, but for our first title since going independent, it wouldn’t be fun if we released a small game, so Devil’s Third is the result of making something while going all out."

Itagaki described the single player as "like the action games of yesteryear" and the online multiplayer as being "designed on a scale that will make you go ‘this much already?!’"

Devil's Third is scheduled to release on Wii U sometime this year.

Talkback

Itagaki has been talking a big game on Devil's Third. I find it difficult to trust him given the, at best, mixed E3 2014 showing for Devil's Third and the low regard for him due to his last known antics (lawsuits and sexual harassment) and long absence from the spotlight.

Despite that, I hope for the best for Devil's Third as there are some weird aspects to it that I find interesting. Also, everyone likes a comeback, right?

Hey, I like the action games of yesteryear! Everybody get on the Devil's Third hype train!

I expect we'll see a release date and a big shiny trailer at E3.
