Even more retro goodness, with a twist, is on the way.

NES Remix 2 has been announced and will be released on the Wii U eShop on April 25 in North America and in Japan as Famicom Remix 2 on April 24.

NES Remix 2 will contain remixes and stages from multiple NES games including Ice Hockey, Wario's Woods, Zelda II, Super Mario Bros. 2, Dr. Mario, Kirby's Adventure, Super Mario Bros. 3, Kid Icarus, Punch-Out!!, Metroid, NES Open, and Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels.

Additionally, NES Remix 2 will include a special Super Luigi Bros. game. This game, starring Luigi, will let players enjoy the original Super Mario Bros. in reverse (going from right to left). Luigi will also come equipped with his signature high jump.

The game will also see a physical release in Japan. The package contains both the original Famicom Remix and Famicom Remix 2 and is set to come out on the release date for 2,858 yen. The stand alone game on the eShop will cost 1,429 yen.

This information comes from today's Nintendo Direct.

That Luigi Bros. stuff blew my mind.  I recognized the levels, but everything was so... wrong.  Didn't do the first remix, will definitely jump into this one.

Also, ice hocket?

This looks like a much better set of games than the original.

Maybe we'll get the SNES Remix people have been asking for next.

Is this DLC?

If not, why?

PhilPhillip Stortzum, February 13, 2014

I still need to get through the original NES Remix! I don't mind more retro goodness, however!

Because money?

We know they can give you discounts based on previous purchases, so they'd be wise to maybe knock it down to $5 or so if you bought the original.

Still, I'm not sure if I'm all that interested. Ice Hockey/Wario's Woods is cool, but as the man said, "Zelda II can eat a dick."

Cool batch of games.

Not sure if i'm down for it, but some really cool games there.

Better lineup this time. Waiting for Sega Master System Remix.

I hope to God they add online leaderboards for this one and patch it into the first game. That's the only thing left to make it perfect imo.

I can't wait until the Zelda II challenge where it says to duck in the corner and stab dark link.

I loved NES Remix and this one looks even better. Yes I'll be buying unless they do something like double the price. I'm a little surprised they announced it today. I'd have thought they'd wait until the next Nintendo Direct (in Aprilish) and pull another "available today" especially since this will convince people not to buy the original as this one looks like it'll be even better.

Wasn't into the first one because the game lineup just didn't appeal.  NES Remix 2 sounds much more appealing in that regard... but on the flip-side, these are all games I'm very familiar with, so maybe learning the mechanics (again) won't be so interesting?

Cool news though.  So does this mean SNES Remix is next?

NES Remix Remix - In which the original Remixed games are Remixed to make them fun!

Only joking. Just based on the source material alone this game seems far more appealing to me. Bros 3, Metroid, Kirby's Adventure? Seems neat!

ResettisCousinFebruary 14, 2014

I bought the first Remix and find it 'just OK'. Playing the remix, romhack, sections is much more fun that the 'challange' sections of the original games required to unlock the remixes. I'd buy Remix 2 if it's a discount for Remix 1 owners, but not otherwise.

Wasn't it Jimmy Carter who said that?
Can't find the exact quote. Was in the late 80's though.
