Tag team, back again.

From what I played on the show floor, Crash Tag Team Racing is very similar to Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, although there are a few differences that distinguish it from the Nintendo racer. The main difference is that you start as a single racer and have the ability to join up with another racer at any given time. Crash Tag Team Racing also offers more modes of play than Mario Kart. The on-foot and stunt modes sound very promising, although I did not get to play them on the show floor.

Despite its nice idea, I found Crash Tag Team Racing to be pretty uninspired. The game plays like a normal kart racer, with A as accelerate, B as break, and X as item, but the Y button “Tags” and melds your car with another, then it plays like Double Dash!! and you can switch driver and gunner.

The E3 build I is very weak on the graphical side. The framerate stutters a whole lot, and I believe there is only one track available. Despite this, I believe Crash Tag Team Racing can become, at the very least, a moderately decent game. We’ll see later this year.
