Kill each other with sawblades! Yes!

E3's playable demo of BattleBots included about five bots and a single arena. The final version is supposed to feature eighty bots, forty of which are from the TV show.

There were two control configurations - a simple type where your bot is moved with the control stick, based on forward/back and turn left and right. 'A' activates any weapon function.

The other configuration was a more realistic, advanced setup - use the control stick for the left tread, and the C-stick for the right tread. The triggers control the other bot functions.

The demo bots I played included lift/flip bots of a couple sizes, and a killer vertical saw bot. The saw bot seemed much powerful than the others, but the rules in the E3 version were 'fight to the death', so it couldn't be won with a flipover alone. There was only a simple bridge arena playable - the final version will feature the official arena from the show, and many others with their own environmental dangers.

Two player worked great - the camera zoomed out instead of going split screen. The final version will feature 4-player mode! wOOt!

And, of course, you can create your own bots.

So, yeah, I'm interested in this. This could be the next killer multiplayer game.
