Episode 589: One-Third of a Title

New Super Radio Free Nintendo 4U Deluxe.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/48359/episode-589-one-third-of-a-title

This week Nintendo dropped their delayed Nintendo Direct on the day of recording, so our intrepid team turned their attention to the proceedings. Isabelle in Smash, every Final Fantasy except VIII on Switch, Jon and James' future plans for NES Pro Wrestling, a double-shot of Luigi's Mansion, and the awful decision to give a tentative name of "Town" to your game are all covered. It was a big, weird Direct full of swerves and ports. So very many ports.

After the break we take a stab at a trio of emails. This week we try to determine if we can port games forever, save a retiree's Civilization 6 "Me Time", and think of a Nintendo Rogue-Like-Like. You too can ask us for relationship advice for your parents by sending us an email.

Good show.

With regards to the originality question, we are blessed to see the creation of a new art form first hand, so it's gonna be a bummer as we see things settle down due to various factors. Adding to that, we're all getting older and more experienced, so things will seem less novel as we start to see patterns through history.

Lastly, things have to come from somewhere. Computer RPGs didn't pop out of nowhere; some table-top game enthusiasts were trying to darnest to adapt the game they love on to a couple of kilobytes of program.

Everything about Daemon X Machina makes it look like Armored Core 5 to me, including coop battles against giant bosses. Though at least it doesn't seem to have that stategic metagame thingy that didn't really work too well in 5.

Hmm, I thought the co-op boss fights against a giant robot was more of a Armored Core for Answer thing? Never got around to playing either Armored Core 4, 4A, 5, or Verdict Day. Kinda wish I did.

I think James was on the money with the CIV answer - Sometimes you just need some time/space to yourself.  My dad who is retired golfs a few times a week, it's both a hobby he enjoys but is also time to be either with himself or .  I'll on occasion take a day off just to have time to myself without having to chase a few kids around or feel like I have to have conversation with my wife.  Doesn't mean I don't adore my wife or love spending time with my family, but sometimes you just need some me time.

That said, the questioner knows their parents better than anyone.
