Infinite Space (DS) reprint coming?

I'm not sure that $50 CAD counts as a deal, but the fact it's apparently going to be available again at all seems pretty significant.

Not sure if other retailers are getting it or if it'll be exclusive - there was a weird announcement last week that suggests exclusive, but who really knows.

Posting because it's been brought up on the podcast a couple of times. I believe James liked the game, although it's apparently pretty obtuse. I used to own and then traded before playing because the return value was too much to turn down.

Interesting. I would definitely be on board with a re-release of this game. Years back, when I first saw it previewed in Nintendo Power, I was sold on it. It looked really great and I thought it could be a game of the year contender. I remember Crimm was pretty positive with the game as well. But it disappeared fast. It seemed like in 3 months it was gone from store shelves. I don't often buy games and since it was released through Sega, I figured there'd be plenty of time to buy it down the road and maybe at a reduced cost. Instead, it turned into one of the rare and valuable games of the DS generation. Of a short list of remaining DS games I'd still like to buy and own, Infinite Space has been at the top of the list for 3 years. I always figured I'd have to bite the bullet and pay the high cost of eBay to acquire it at some point. $50.00 for the game seems reasonable to me.

The only thing I question about this is the fact that we just had the news article that DS card production was coming to an end so for Infinite Space to be re-released on DS cards at this time seems suspect to me. Here's hoping it's legit.

I remember a plug the game got on RFN years ago and snagged a used copy from Gamestop with the case for $15. Didn't play it for a while but got into it last Summer. It feels like a mix of games like Freelancer and those deep-space exploration games that were popular in the 80's/90's, but with a battle system similar to Skies of Arcadia's ship battle system. All of this was wrapped up in a very JRPG-space opera setting.

I would love to see a sequel with a more fleshed out battle system.

I want this. When can I get this? I've been hearing about the crazy, epic storyline and ship battles for a long time but copies are impossible to find (at a decent price). So this is amazing news!

It'd be nice if it's true, I've been curious about the game but no way would I spend those kinds of prices on any game.

This is the same retailer that announced that DS card production was ending and that they'd have exclusive restocks. FWIW I have seen them show up on websites for Atlus games as a retailer to pre-order from, so they do have a working relationship with some publishers. I've also bought old DS games from them in the past that worked fine and didn't have any of the obvious tells of a DS fake, but it's hard to be completely sure. A $20 or $25 game is one thing, but I'm not sure I could do it at $50.

This. It gets silly once you figure out how to break the battle system. The feedback on stat increases and what the stats do was pretty poor also.

So the only place that's selling this reprint is the site in the original post? I'm not paying 50 bucks for it, that's not worth it.

I really want to play this game, but not that bad.

There will probably be other retailers selling at some point, but if there is an exclusivity deal for distribution then pricing might not be any better. (For what it's worth, I'm also interested but not willing to spend $50. Even if that is less than the "going rate" in the second-hand market.)

At $50 CAD this is the price of a new 3DS game, so it isn't that outrageous of a price.  The Canadian dollar has really gone down over the last few years so if you look on other Canadian sites you'll see new games like Fire Emblem Fates and Hyrule Warriors going for $50.  The price is about $40 in US funds.
