I am become Hype.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/40436/episode-433-now-e3-is-real

It's our last episode before E3, and we had to cram in a few more game impressions and some Listener Mail, lest it all get buried by the massive din of this week's activities. There's even a special guest who joins at the mid-point!

New Business has a few chestnuts, starting with James's long-awaited thoughts on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Then, Jon checks in with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and maybe convinces one of us to join the cult... Jonny checks out Adventure of Pip, the brand new indie hotness on Wii U. Finally, you'll hear updates and strategy for Splatoon from both Guillaume and Jonny.

Just after the break, NWR Director Neal Ronaghan joins us (for the first time in years!) for a tour of our E3 coverage plans at Nintendo World Report. We're all set to blast you in the face with videos, podcasts, and written reports on all the cool stuff happening in Los Angeles this week. Just stay subscribed to RFN, NWR TV on YouTube, and this here website so you won't miss anything!

We also convinced Neal to stick around for Listener Mail, in which we catch up with the Humble Bundle news, a surprising Link's Awakening-Twilight Princess connection, franchise-mixing DLC ideas, and our favorite third-party Wii games.

If there's anything you want to ask the NWR staff during E3, please tweet with #AskNWR or use this special E3 email link for a chance to have your question answered in our daily videos. Otherwise, we're always happy to take your non/post-E3 questions and ideas at the usual RFN email. Thanks for listening, and please do check in often for our extensive coverage of the biggest event in video games!

The calm before the storm! Nice to hear the approach strategy for E3 2015. The tension is palpable.

I’ve only listened to the start and again another highly enjoyable podcast.

I was surprised that James liked DK for some reason it seems like a game he would not like.

I think I agree with Johnny that you should use your coins and not really feel bad about it.

I bought a crap load of lives and used the extra harts and invincibility potions on bosses.

I think the game is balanced where if someone wants an ultra-challenge they can skip the items but using them I feel is totally fine.

I also thought the bosses were freaking great!!! I mean yeah I died like 15 times in the last boss and it was double frustrating cause I had my two kids jumping on me and any mistake or break in concentration meant I died but I never thought it was unfair.

I always knew that I could do better and I had to keep trying. I can respect that even while getting my ass kicked.

Oh and James I’m surprised you didn’t mention the music which is brilliant.

As for Leo's question about a "New Nintendo" refering to his surprise by the Humble Nindie Bundle. I was shocked and it wasn't because they were trying something new, it was because they seem to not like sales and certainly not sales where you get 13 digital games for $10. They're the guys that always shout about preserving the value and they refuse to do more than small discounts (I just saw Donkey Kong Country Returns at Best Buy for $50). I'm just happy to see this and I hope it continues

Yeah it took me about 10 tried to beat him but it was double frustrating because I had my wife sitting behind me waiting for the TV. Then I had my two kids (1 and 3 year old) climing on top of me and say daddy daddy daddy daddy daddy daddy daddy daddy.

Ugh.

But with all said the boss I think it’s fair because with every try I got better and learned the pattern more and more until I put it all together in one shot and beat the damn bastard.

Yeah power ups are essential but not necessary if you have the patience to learn the patterns perfectly.
