Street Fighter is a lock as I've not owned and played one to death since the SNES days.  Pilotwings is a lock as I enjoyed both WiiSports Resort flying (though I'v never had the time to fully explore WuHu island) and the demo of it at PAX. Both games can be played in short bursts and compliment each other well with Street Fighter being fast and furious and Pilotwings being calm and laid back.  The third game I'm picking up is Steel Diver. It's unique, my unknown and from Nintendo and outside of complaints about it's length (which doesn't bother me in the slightest) looks to be fun.

But now I have a gift certificate to Best Buy to buy ANOTHER 3DS game and I'm having the devil's own time trying to figure which game to pick up!

My choices:

Ridge Racer 3DS: The last Ridge Racer I played seriously was Type 4 for PSone.  It has been reviewed well and from numerous impressions seems like a lot of fun with a lengthy career mode.  Graphically it looks fine to me and has been said that it looks way better in motion.  I haven't owned a fun racer since Mario Kart Wii so this is a game I am very interested in.

Rayman 3DS: I absolutely loved the 2nd game, but never got very far in it due to time restraints when it came out on the N64.  Now I get to play a much better version of it in 3D, portably! It's a meaty adventure platformer that I want to own and beat after all these years.

Super Monkey Ball 3DS:Finally! A monkey ball game with a proper frame rate and analog controls! I've never had the time to really dig through the challenges of the later levels in the first game.  The proposition of being able to whip out a competent version on the go is just awesome (both previous portable versions just didn't cut it).

Ghost Recon Shadow Wars: Tactical warfare set in modern times? Rainbow Six-like planning? Turn-Based combat in 30+ missions? From the creator of X-Com? Ranch Dressing? This game has my name written all over it! Plus I'm getting it for free, so what's to lose?

Help community!!! I don't know which to pick :-\ .

I'm basically making the same decision, except instead of Street Fighter (I've never been a fan of fighting games) I'm getting Pro Evo.

I'm very interested in Ghost Recon, but I can't find any articles on the internet by people who've actually played the game, and that and Ubisoft embargoing all their games until launch day has me scared.

The lack of difficulty is what's got me doubting Monkey Ball, as well as how unlikely it is that I'll run into anyone else with a 3DS to play the multiplayer while I'd still care.

I hadn't considered Ridge Racer at all until I saw the reviews for it, but now I'm giving it serious thought. I've never played any game in the series before, so I don't really know what to expect. The main thing holding me back is that I've enjoyed the games in the Asphalt series that I've played (the first one was probably the best game at the original DS's launch) and might rather have that instead, though it's being published by Ubisoft, and thus subject to the embargo.

I don't know about Asphalt, but if you want to play a great arcady racer with awesome music and drifting out the wazoo, Ridge Racer is the best.

I will definitely be picking up Pilot Wings Resort and Steel Diver. If I happen to have enough money left over, I may pick up Super Monkey Ball 3D, or Street Fighter.

Quick FYI for my NWR brothers and sisters, Toys R Us seems to be having a luanch deal going on where when you buy one 3ds game, you get the second half off.  I don't have an official link but here is a thread over at Cheepassgamer.com.
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=290206

Well as for the launch games, its funny how many claim this launch lineup to be weak yet I'm having a hardtime not snatching up a handful of these games. Currently I'm set on SSFIV and Ghost Recon but I'm still mulling over Rayman 3d. I keep hearing that Rayman 2: The Great Escape (Rayman 3d) is one of the best platformers around, even till this day. I've never played it but I heard its based on the supposed superior Dreamcast version of the game. Has anyone on here played Rayman 2 back in the day? Is it really as good as I keep reading online?

On a side note, for the few people on here who are actually excited for Ghost Recon: SW (like me lol) and dieing for any information.  I found this "review" online.  Its a strange article becuase it seems like they might be reviewing the game but then again it doesn't.  I'm not sure if they are getting information about the game from the developers or through their gametime.  Never the less, its a decent read as it gets slightly more in depth into the gameplay as apposed to the blackout of info we have gotten so far with this game.

Ha ha! Just came here to post the TRU deal and was beaten :) It has made my decision to pick up a few more games at launch easier as now I don't have to choose!

Picking up:
Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition
Pilotwings Resort
Steel Diver
Ridge Racer 3D
Rayman 3D

I'll pick up Super Monkey Ball and Ghost Recon probably a month down the line once I get through these first crop of games. Ghost Recon is a definite buy though not right now as I just recently completed Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and have taken care of my srpg itch for now. I'll be interested in the impressions of Super Monkey Ball as people get it to see how well it compared to the first.

I'm so pumped! I've never been compelled in the past to pick up so many games at launch for this little (I'm getting ostensibly 2 games for free with the TRU deal and my gift certificate).

Right now I'm trying to figure out a way I can afford to buy 4 games at launch, and none of them are Street Fighter.

EDIT: I've now come to the realization that I'd be buying a full half of the 3DS launch games if I had the money to do so. There aren't any big "must-own" games, but a lot of solid software.

Nah. I think I'll stick with SSF4 and just get DoA at a later time. I think there has to be a medical condition for people that can't make up their minds and change them every few minutes.  :-[

Well, I didn't get any games with my system, maybe I'll decide on something tomorrow. The games are 45€ a piece which is 5€ more than DS and Wii games. Especially ridiculous for Rayman 3D when Rayman 2 was so old they practically gave it away many years ago. Well, I'll keep looking for reviews in the meantime. The one user review of Splinter Cell on Amazon is positive but I haven't seen any professional reviews of that yet. Ghost Recon is getting respectable scores. Monkey Ball not so much.

I'm debating which version of Lego Star Wars to get. I have the Wii collection already so I'm thinking that I'll go for that on Wii unless something really special is on the 3DS version.

I'm excited for Steel Diver from videos and such that I've read.

But I looked at my finances and realized that I shouldn't buy a 3DS at launch. I don't want to burn all of my extra emergency money. Plus I'm trying to go to E3 this year. I'm shooting to get it in June when Zelda and StarFox release especially if E3 falls through.

But not getting one right away makes em a sad panda ;_;

I'm not paying attention to any of the reviews on this game. It's such a unique game I don't think everyone is going to look at it the same. Especailly reviewers that are rushing through games in time for the launch. This looks like a game that you have to take your time with and it looks intentionally designed that way. I've seen enough videos to know what it looks like and how it plays. That hasn't turned me off. It seems short but then the last mode looks like it could last longer and then you can do the game again with the different subs.

Reviews anyway haven't really focused on the content of the game in any detail, just saying it's short and lite on it. That doesn't really help anyone.

Steel Diver was one of the 4 games to receive the "Buy It" rating from Kotaku in its 3DS launch titles feature, along with PilotWings, Street Fighter and Ghost Recon.

Interesting. I'm still surprised by Ghost Recon. I wonder how much of it though is it being a good game or just the rest of Ubisoft's line up is so bad that this is considered good by comparison.

I doubt they're comparing it directly to Ubisoft's other games as opposed to all the other launch games in general. Neal called it the hidden gem of the 3DS launch, not the hidden gem of Ubisoft's launch titles.

I watched a video of Ghost Recon and saw a lot of good potential there. I'm warming up to it more and more. I won't pay full price for it yet but I will make a point of picking it up at some point down the road.

I am a sucker for SRPGs and I think I have been to hard on the game. With the Amazon.com deals I can pretty much pick up another 3DS game for free. I was going to save that for Dead or Alive but if Nintendo Power has anything positive to say about the game it might sway me.

I picked up Samurai Warriors after reading positive user comments about the depth of the game and how to get to it (namely play on Hard). Certainly helps the game that you're in charge of multiple heroes and can switch control to any of them instantly while giving the rest some orders. Also all heroes have "strategies" that use their own gauge to give either global buffs or help your currently selected character (e.g. your own character can instantly fill the super attack gauge of the character you control currently) but to use them you have to fight using their character.

I was torn between that and Ghost Recon but I wanted an action game as my first choice even though I know GR is probably the best of the launch games. Will probably pick that up soon.

After debating for much of the week between nothing and Pilot Wings, I think I've talked myself in to Pilot Wings. I can take the $25 credit from Amazon and get it for $15, which is probably what it's worth. Rayman was the other but I've read bad things about it. Nothing else is interesting to me.

So because I pre-ordered my system and Pilotwings on amazon I can pick up another launch title for $5...but honestly they all look terrible.

I'm not that into fighting games but SSF4 is obviously the biggest launch title and might be pretty fun.  Ridge Racer has also been getting good reviews and is said to really benefit from the 3D makeover, but I never end up playing racing games as much as I intend to.  Rayman 3D is also tempting because I played Rayman 2 on the N64 and loved it (and never beat it) but I also have a hard time supporting such a lazy launch title....then again, it's effectively only $5.

SOMEBODY MAKE THIS DECISION FOR ME.

I think you're confusing buying Madden with being a dick to someone for liking a game that you don't.
