Resident Evil DS (first pics!)
« on: August 24, 2005, 12:19:00 AM »
Resident Evil Deadly Silence has been announced for Nintendo DS!

Official Site

It looks AWESOME! There's lots of cool looking features in those scans, I see first person knife slashing, touch screen puzzles, and uh, other neat stuff. Some parts I recognise from Resident Evil 1. That screen with the blood all over the screen looks cool, i'm guessing you have to wipe it off with the touch screen. Can't wait to hear more about this!

before i clicked i figured it was going to be some stupid fake screenshots, but that is pretty convincing.  Although the graphics remind me of doom on pc.  I think it needs some workin.  I also really hope controls are tight, i would hate for this game to have $hitty controls and graphics.  I could deal with $hitty graphics if gameplay and controls are solid.

The graphics look fine, it'll look good when you're playing it, apparently it has "the playability of Biohazard 4" with fully 3D backgrounds.

Yeah - handheld games never quite look right when they are blown up and printed (with a lovely grainy finish) in magazines and then scanned.

Yes, it was.  I also wonder if this the game Capcom was rumored to be using DivX on.

Remember also, that DS games tend to look jagged in still shots (but almost always look great in motion). I've been looking forward to a Resident Evil on the DS game since the system's launch. I was actually hoping for a DS enhanced port of RE2, but "Deadly Silence" will satisfy me as well. This was my anticipated unannounced title.

I bought my DS the day it launched. Up until yesterday I was very underwhelmed by the system and began questioning whether or not I should buy a PSP. I don't want to say that I was regretting my purchase, but I hadn't touched it since May.

It seems like the DS library has gone from being stale to incredibly exciting almost overnight. There are so many interesting and unique titles due to come out over the next few months that I finally feel that my DS was worth buying. For those that haven't picked it up yet - Advance Wars: Dual Strike will own you. Then the Nintendogs will overpower you with their cuteness. Resistance is futile!

I played Kirby at a DS demo kiosk a few weeks ago. It was fun, but not something that I would want to buy.

Resident Evil again? I love all the games my DS is getting and I thank capcom for the support but I think I'll pass on this one. REmake is the only version I want to remember.  The are other franchisees I want capcom to make for my DS (StreetFighter please). Maybe like Bill says, if they can make it unique enough the maybe.

If you look at the scans scaled down to 50% - the screen shots look much better (putting it more or less at the actual size of the DS' screens).

Anyways - it looks good, but the zombies all seem to look identical. I hope they will offer a little variety in the final version.

Also, the old fashioned phonograph looks oddly similar to the turntable used in Nintendogs to record transmittable voice messages for "Bark Mode". I wonder if something similar will come into play for RE: DS' Wi-Fi connectivity. Maybe you can record a cry for help and then someone will come in and help you kill some zombie scum?

I agree its always sad to see a great new innovative game put down. I wonder if Capcom puts some multiplayer in this sucker perhaps a better resident evil outbreak type of multiplayer with Wi-Fi, hell just to make it better you can just map the invatory on the touch screen since it takes forever to take something in the invatory on the PS2 while everything is happening in real time.

Yeah I've had my DS since launch day too, and if it wasn't for Meteos and some GBA games i might still be on the first recharge of the batteries! okay that might be a bit overexaggerating but still.  I swear Meteos has made me have to recharge my batteries so many times, I'm glad you can play Meteos and hook up the charger while you play.

What about World Championship Poker? =P

===
Hrm...RE on the DS = Cool!

However, being as this is the...4th time this particular game has been remade? Not so Cool.

I mean, I -just- bought it on my GC for crying out loud.

This... doesn't look interesting.  I'll stick to the console games, as I have no desire to play the handheld port of a game I've beaten too many times to count.  How about that Megamen though?

Well Leon it can be a cool idea since Capcom can make new gameplay elements with the DS hell if they wanted they could get a multiplayer component like I mentioned above. Or how about a S.T.A.R.S. vs Infected Zombies  multiplayer type of game? Kind of like a Spies vs. Mercenaries type of thing how each team has its own  goal to do.

I had the same thought.

That would make for some awesome multplayer.

But playing as a zombie would ultimately end in the player using strategy to overcome his opponents...Everyone knows that a zombie only follows rudimentary "instinct" to stalk its prey...

If the "zombies" could act more like RE4 "zombies" during multiplayer I think it could make for a very interesting deathmatch gameplay.

I dunno about you, but it doesn't seem like a Port...but another Remake and that is ok.

I think Resident Evil had the best story, and the most interesting enviroment of the Resident Evil games...you were trapped in a hell house...and while you are there you just find out its worse than you ever imagined.  Very cool.

With additions like touch screen puzzles, first person elements, and the ability to play Resident Evil portable which is very cool...I think this will sell well and be a nice addition to the DS library.
