It's possible but it's not that crucial.  The DS, despite having a pretty thin selection of games, is selling very well.  I think the PSP needs a price drop more as it has a pretty strong launch lineup but isn't selling as well as it could likely because of its very high price.  Of course cutting the DS price some more would really give the DS a big price advantage over the PSP.  However I imagine if Nintendo cut the price it would pressure Sony into cutting the PSP price.  Nintendo doesn't need to cut their price while Sony does.  So if a DS price cut pressured a PSP price cut it could actually encourage PSP sales.  I think Nintendo should stick to the current price as long as possible.  Let Sony think the PSP price is good where it is.

Yeah, I'm going to agree with Ian, it's unnecessary.  Just make more games and announce Mario Kart online and you've got it made.

The PSP won't see a price drop this year, so I doubt the DS will (unless it's at the very end of the year for the holiday)

PSP gets on for Christmas. I doubt the DS does unless the PSP goes down to 150 too.

I think the ONLY way DS will see a price drop is if PSP drops its price below $200.00
If PSP drops to $199.99 I think the DS will probably drop to $129.99 still being $70.00 cheaper than the competition

Are they seriously? Because I think that would be a big mistake. I agree with Ian & HC - it just isn't the right move at this time.

I don't see a price drop happening this soon.  The system just came out not that long ago and I doubt they've got the production costs down low enough to justify a move like that.

I think Ninty's taking away the Metroid Demo, thumb strap, ect. and dropping the price.

The DS won't drop in price until the holiday season, at the earliest.  DS systems are still selling fast, even with all the PSP hype.

The system is barely four months old, people.  A price drop that early would be like saying the system is a failure.

And nobody's getting rid of the thumbstrap either.  That'd be dumb for the reason that some games do need it.  The metroid demo would get the axe before anything else.

The Value Pack won't, but I'm sure Sony will roll out the cheaper PSP that doesn't include all the useless junk later this year.

"We'll take out the Spiderman 2 movie and replace it with a big bag of NOTHING"
"What about the extra battery?"
"Replace it with a big bag of NOTHING"
"Strap, cleaning cloth and case?"
"Big bag. Of nothing"
"We should probably head over to Woolworths, then"

Then DS will pee its pants, coz you ain't cool unless you pee your pants.
