So the Pope is coming to Philly this week and getting to work...

So I work in Downtown Philadelphia and the "World Meeting of Families" is this week with the Pope coming in on Friday. They are shutting this city down. Trains, Subways, Buses and Trolleys all either suspended or diverted. Bridges to a fro are closed starting Friday morning and reopening Monday Afternoon. And me? My office is right in the heart of the city across the street from the Liberty Bell and Independence Mall (which already has 24h, armed Park Rangers since 9/11). This is going to be insane this week. There is expected to be and extra 1.5 MILLION people in the city this week. Probably working from home when it gets really crazy. Going to take mad pictures videos! Wish me luck!

I work in DC, so I feel your pain. Right between where I work and where I live is Catholic University, where His Holiness's presence is causing the school to kick out the students for safety reasons.

My brother just asked me about that Pope Mobile. He has to go from the ParkWay (The steps that Rocky runs up) to the Liberty Bell which is about 2 miles. Thats a lot of buildings and alleys to hide criminal types. I just hope nothing happens while he's here. On a lighter note, there is all manner of PopeMerch all over town. Hell, I even got some Y.O.P.O. (You Only Pope Once) t-shirts printed and I can sell em for 25-30 bucks a pop.
