Dude, actually watch When They Cry before you decide to mock its lighter moments. The show's about a time-looping town where people are repeatedly butchered to death in increasingly nasty ways. I could do without the "comedy" episodes myself (which serve to put you off your guard when the nasty stuff comes), but the show is quite good and ends pretty spectacularly.

yeah i watched a few episodes of that show. You're right it's not terrible but still isnt my cup of tea anyways. The opening is still pretty lulzy though in that "wtf Japan" kind of way.

Also NHK is actually a really good show, the pururin thing is basically a parody of the kind of stuff that's in this thread.

Yeah, I watched that show in its entirety on Funimation's streaming site a few years back, and it's pretty good. It's on my list of anime DVD sets I'll pick up...someday, along with the BluRay versions of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and The Escaflowne movie.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is in a league of its own. I would highly recommend 5 Centimeters Per Second on Blu-Ray, it's an animated canvas. The art is beautiful.

Eh, I've seen that series, and my big problem with it is that the show is just needlessly padded, and the padding is not the least bit interesting. I'm not talking about the generally-entertaining Witchblade fights, either. IIRC the 2nd half of that series is just padded with episode after episode of people just talking to each other in a monotone fashion about things we really don't care about. The mother-daughter relationship was generally good, though.

And yes, the Girl Who Leapt Through Time is awesome. I've had the DVD LE for several years now, but I've been wanting to upgrade to the BluRay. Unfortunately, with Bandai Entertainment USA going under, that BluRay was never released into any retail store here and it's still more expensive than it really should be online. Unfortunately, I'll have to pick it up sometime in the near future because those copies will start getting scarce soon.

I find it really funny how some places are charging so much for the NHK DVD. My best bud said he went to anime convention in Tennessee and they where selling it for 80! I got mine for 20 at Bestbuy and when I went to Anime Expo saw it for 25 with plenty of copies to spare.

It's a great anime to rewatch. There is so much forshadowing and references to future events. You can easily catch them too, espically in the opening scene of the first episode. You will enjoy it.

Is the Hellsing BR already out? I was going to grab that for my GF for Christmas, but I thought it doesn't come out till November. That is another anime I need to see as well...

Finished wtaching "Humanity Has Declined" a week ago and it has some good moments. Unfortunately the surrealism actually declines as the show goes on and the episodes are chronologically backwards and out of order. What possessed them to do that I don't know. But the first 2 episodes are an easy mind **** of hilarity.

that page probably has the best amazon review that I have ever read in my life.
Also i haven't actually seen that show, but based off clips from youtube it looks pretty terrible (and yes, children are shot). I wasn't even sure if the funhouse could handle it so i didn't bother linking them.
