If nintendo dies, i hope they go down with pride! i hope that their last game they make will be HUGE, one of their best ever and then close down the buisness! i wouldnt want to see mario or any other franchize sold off to any other company! i'd want nintendo keep it to them selves and let them die as a legend!and when they are gone, eveyone will miss their games and think back on nintendo and remember their glory!

It won't happen.  Nintendo is doing just fine right now, and they don't seem to be wanting to leave the industry anytime soon.  Nintendo is too strong to die.

I cant seen Nintendo "dying" anytime soon. As for "the game industry will die as well" how can you justify saying that? Nintendo dont make a HUGE chunk of the video games industry, there are other consoles that get support from fans as well. I myself, am a Nintendo fan but I do enjoy titles on other systems. Its what a true gamer should do. If Nintendo died, you would still play video games on other systems wouldnt you? I know I would.

i dont see them dying soon either! i just want to kno how you guys would like to see nintendo go out? like make a huge compilation game! or a HUGE zelda game, 5 times the size of OOT! would u want them to sell out their characters or let them die with the company?b/c realy, mario is nintendo and wih no nintendo, you cant have mario!

the way i look at sega now with sonic on gamecube, it kinda feels like a nintendo trophie! their old rival now on their system! i would hate to see that with mario! say nintendo goes out of buisness and then a year later see mario on a sony council! i'd feel bad!

but ya, nintendo is here to stay, i just wanna know how yu guys would want them to leave the buisness (if they ever do)

Er, if Nintendo was to "die," they probably wouldn't have the MONEY to produce a huge final game.

Most things that end with a death end with a whimper. Ask any fan of the Archie Sonic comics when first the Super Specials and then the Knuckles series were cancelled. *rolls his eyes* Often there isn't enough warning to do a "huge final" thing, and everything is focused on the business anyway at that point.

If he's still around and actively working on them, Nintendo would probably "sell off" Miyamoto (officially he'd announce he would move to the company with his creations by his own choice, unofficially... Well, if he feels detached enough from them, he might branch off and start all new series elsewhere, but he's quite attached to his current works) and some of the more popular franchises with him. They would be stupid not to, especially if they were in a bad enough financial position to have to close (you can't always afford pride at that point), and other companies would be rabidly bidding against eachother trying to pick up the package.

But that thought is a LONG way off. Nintendo's got a large surplus of cash saved up, they're not in any particular financial danger now or in the forseeable future.

IF Nintendo dies you can pretty much assume that a Dues Ex scenario had taken place and that the world had  an IT crash and that we had be put back thousands of years into the dark ages.
Or an asteroid literally wiped out half the earth population upon impact and then all remaining life form died withing 10 years only to have to start up Darwin's theory of evolution mark II or whatever version it is up to as its hard to analise how many times Earth's lifecycles have recycled.

As long as we have electricity or solar power Nintendo will never die. Nintendo will only grow stronger in their philosophies and will continue being industry leaders in efficiency or convenience.

efficiency = IBM cpu and ATI architecture
convenience = plug and play, realtime interactions or waivebird etc

Lastly now with eg. Square and Konami reluctantly supporting Nintendo due to large publishes such as EA or Activision stealing huge global marketshares, there is hardly any chance of Nintendo being eaten up by corporate companies such as Sony or M$. The Gamecube has a lineup of being the most varied "quality" console franchises. Even so for the future I fail to see Square and Konami dropping multi-platform support for the next-gen consoles because the secret is to support all platforms if you want to compete with the Activisions and EAs of the industry. Therefore even hypathetically answering to the what IF scenario is irrelevant if you really consider the reality.

2003 = Nintendo's greatest E3 ever

Nintendo is not going to die anytime soon, but I can imagine that if they do, ny interest in gaming would seriously drop off. I don't buy the whole "if you're a real gaming you would still play the others" argument. There's still such a thing as taste and opinion that factor in this issue. I'm sorry, but overall I don't care for what the competitors are selling right now. There a few nice a exclusives, but these machine play second fiddle to my cube right now. I love adventure and platformers, which I feel the other console are difficient in. There are too many PC type of titles that are coming to the Xbox for my taste, while the PS has too much of "teh cool" games that may or may not have the gameplay to go along with them. Plus, I dread what the next generation will bring with all this complicated set top box, internet functionality crap the other console makers will be bringing. I just want a simple game machine, and I will look elsewhere because of that opinion. Even if that means I have to stick to the Gameboy, I think I will be a lot more happy about that than dealing with some of the possiblities these machines bring like pay for play for instance.

I don't jest when I say my interest will wane significantly. I stopped for good awhile after the Dreamcast was killed and in the end videogames are a hobby not a neccesity. I won't melt away because I can't play Mario, and I don't think anyone can call me a fool or an elitist snob if I truly feel that after Nintendo there's not much left for me play.
