New problem. Different Computer.

Laptop won't boot up windows. Gets a blue screen for a split second and then restarts.
I'm pretty sure I just need a boot disc for it, but where can I download one that I can trust?
Windows XP is the OS.

I tried to hook a USB cable up to it thinking I could access the HDD and save some of the data, but that has been unsuccessful.
I don't have a Windows disc to perform a repair install, so my only two options that I can think of are
1) remove the HDD, turn it into an external then hook it up to my PC
or
2) Find a XP boot disc that will let me get the computer up and running.

Does anybody know where I can find one that is trust worthy? I don't want to put my computer at risk to save someone elses.

edit: nevermind, problem solved.

So I finally get around to installing my new CPU (Core2Duo) only to find out that it doesn't come with the cooling gel.

I thought somebody in this thread said that whatever gel it comes with should be good, implying that it would come with it.

Now I have to wait till tomorrow when I can goto Fry's.

UltimatePartyBear:

Are you sure it's not already applied to the bottom of the heatsink assembly?  Did you buy a retail box or an OEM one?  OEM stuff comes with nothing extra on the assumption that you have vast quantities of it on your assembly line.

BlackNMild2k1:

I got the retail box.  Blue Intel box with a 45nm sicker on the outside.

When I open it up, there is a fan and a processor and they both look dry. No gel applied or included in the box.

NinGurl69 *huggles:

Intel is learning to save money by putting OEM products in pretty retail boxes.
