If any of you have seen this show, then you know how controversial this show can get. However, even with all the political humor and the provocative language, this show is a real gem. I urge you all to see it at least once.

It's really great, just the sheer irony of the 2 characters that Nile Boogie mentioned makes it worth and award.

That's my favorite aspect of the show. The irony. The irony between Huey and Riley. The irony between Unlce Ruckus and GrandDad.

In the end, it always cracks me up.

I stopped watching Adult Swim altogether. Somehow caught the episode about [Fiddy]. Funniest sh|t I've seen on AS in a long time. Haven't remembered to watch it since. As creator of this thread, you should post reminders of upcoming episodes.

The season has ended and DVD's aren't due to be released for quite a while. You could wait for re-runs, or you could find another way to watch all the episodes

the retail store i work at is drawing crowds becuase of the 'exclusive' boondocks stuff we sell now. as much as i love the show i hate how things could get whored out that way. maybe its just because ive grown sick of working there.
great show.

oh and samuel l jackson playing a white guy is classic, charlie murphy even better because he has such a strong voice. its the equivelent of james earl jones playing vader (when you finally get to see him without the mask/helmet)!!

I caught parts of the first few episodes and absolutely hated it. And this is coming from someone who loved the first couple years of the comic. (It went seriously downhill after the introduction of Caesar.)

That's the thing.....

You can't watch part of an episode. To enjoy it, you must watch the entire thing.

It's just like a comic strip, you must read the whole thing to enjoy it.

Boondocks. I've watched it. I've laughed. Perhaps Aaron McGruder would look at me the same way he looks at the upper-middle class people who laugh and clap at Huey's spiel about Ronald Reagan being the devil, Jesus being black and the government lying about 9/11. But that's okay.

I never read the comic strip regularly (because I've never read the newspaper regularly), so I can't really compare the show to the strip...though I'll agree the show is somewhat hit-or-miss. There tends to be at least one great joke in every episode, though, which makes up for it.

About my previous persona's comment: that was just a quote from Riley, who is a main character of the show. He's says that all the time, and if you had watched the show you would have realized that. No need to throw a hissy-fit.

Back when it premiered I enjoyed the show. I thought it was one of the best shows on AS. But after a while I got annoyed by it.

My main issue is that the characters are so dysfunctional that its hard to like them and Boondocks being a character heavy show it makes it less fun. I know that the point of the show is to make political commentary on society but it doesn't mean that ALL characters must be that way.

The stories themselves are quite frustrating and hard to enjoy sometimes.

So I won't be looking forward to the second season. If its your thing go ahead.

The comic was very down to earth and insightful, which is what made it funny, but the show was just crazy. The episodes when Samuel L. Jackson and Charlie Murphy come on as the hardcore wankstas are awesome though.

I don't take the episodes seriously, maybe that's why I enjoy it so much.

I laugh at all of Uncle Ruckus's racist comments ("Don't trust them new niggas over there; spreading their nigga essence in the air). I laugh at Riley when he acts gansta (I was like "blick-caaow! blick-caaow!" I was SOOOO gansta!). I laugh at Grand-dad when he draws his belt. I rarely laugh at Huey, but he is suppose to be the really smart one. He's also suppose to be the really radical one, with his crazy ass conspiracy theories (and that's when I usually laugh). I do remember one funny episode where Huey records himself watching nothing but black television, and by the end of it he's a dumbass.

I agree, and South Park has the same problems. Its so bad sometimes that it led me to believe something; fictional characters should stay fictional, as in they shouldn't be a vessel for the creator's ego.

At times, it felt like Matt Stone and Trey Parker were the ones speaking, not Stan, Cartman or Kyle. I know that writers love to put themselves inside of one of their creators, but come on! It sometimes looks like a cheap way to stroke your ego and say that its vital for the story.

This happened a lot in the Boondocks and thus why I stopped watching all together.

i slightly agree with you Pap on the southpark comment, though its never actually ruined the show for me. Sure there are times when it seems too preachy but atleast theres still comedy to be found. It's not like the show is nothing but rants about views they disagree with (and by the way, im not saying thats what you think), its still funny and most of the time its done in a way to disguise the preachiness. Most of the time.

The cartoon wars episodes were pretty preachy, and you can just tell that was Matt and Tre getting it off their chest that they despise family guy, but then they acknowledge the fact that they get "preachy and up its own as$ with messages" so i thought it balanced those episodes out fairly well. Then theres episodes like "Stupid Spoiled Whore" where they just have to take 5 minutes out of the episode just to give a morale lecture at the end when they could of just been making more jokes and hinting at the morale lectures.

Then there are times when Matt and Tre speak thru their characters in a positive way, mainly the episode when they kill off Chef. The scene where the town is mourning Chef and Kyle makes his speech is pretty touching. The message there was for all the fans that felt betrayed at Isaac Hayes leaving the show, telling them not to blame him for leaving and just remember the good things he brought to the show. I'm sure many die hard south park fans were mad at that bit of news but Matt and Tre made their voices heard, thru Kyle, that they loved Isaac and respected his decision for leaving the show, even if they thought personally that it was for the wrong reason. Most importantly they wanted the fans to know, and respect, that too.

Yeah, I forgot that sometimes they are being honest and fair to other views. And I agree that the Chef speech was a touching and emotional one.

At the very least, the characters are well aware of what they are preaching and learn something. The Boondocks just preaches and preaches and the characters don't either become better persons or learn anything.

hm i cant put up an argument to that for two reasons

1. i havent watched the show enough
2. i wouldnt care if it as long as it was entertaining.

last episode i saw was when the younger brother, i get their names mixed up, is put in art classes by a bob ross look-alike and ends up graffiti-tagging houses as his form of expression (with the help of the art instructor). Some viewed it as vandilism while others saw the art in it. His grandad was one of the poeple that didnt see the art in it, so to reach out to him he (the younger brother) spray painted a portrait of his grandad an his wife (on their wedding day i think) on their own house, never taking credit for it. Needless to say his grandad was touched and finally saw it as art and not vandalism.

that was a good episode.

That was Riley. Huey is the one with the afro. He was also the one in the episode that watched nothing but black television, and by the end of the episode, became a complete jackass.

That episode is one of my favorites.

Thats why I love South Park. I find it funny and I enjoy what they say at the ends of the episodes. Must be cause I agree with them... It's my favorite cartoon on tv followed by Futurama and Family Guy.

The only time I watched the Boondocks was a preview, I never watched it after that. haha

Nice episode. I loved the burger king part. The message was clearly there, but not as forced on you as in South Park.
Also, South Park's end of episode "You know, I learned something today"s were better. But the show describes itself best when it says "up it's own ass with morals." It's still funny, and this season is shaping up to be another good one.

i wouldn't call then forced, they're just very clear on their views. there's never a hidden message.

when they call Paris Hilton a stupid spoiled whore, its not marked behind symbolism and metaphors, they just come out and say “paris is a stupid spoiled whore (that coughs up jizz)”

I watched the season premiere of this show, not bad. Some funny parts, and I enjoy the character Huey.

i didnt think the Biggest Turd episode was as good as the Tourettes episode, but i watched it the second time around and couldnt stop laughing at how silly/stupid the plot was.

I just watched the new episode "Tom, Sara, and Usher." and I must say: they seem to be on a role!

Everybody hates Usher, so it was great to see him get bitched slapped! Also, the return of "A Pimp Named Slick-Back" was f*cking priceless. I loved the way he reasoned with Tom.

My only complaint might be that the song parody was a bit too long.

I love Uncle Ruckus's lines; he only had three but two of them are classic.

Line 1: "First of all, if a woman is over 35 years old and she ain't married, she must be nuttier than squirrel sh!t."

Line 2: "She couldn't look that good; she was black. But I guess if you put lipstick and a wig on a monkey, it could look good too. heh heh...heh heh, a monkey with lipstick and a wig."
