Nintendo Gaming / RE: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
« on: July 01, 2007, 08:59:53 PM »
What I want out of the next Zelda title: sword swings based off gestures from the Wiimote <3.

For the record I enjoyed both WW and TP very much =) way more than OoT actually but not as much as ALTTP. Something about the classics that's just hard to beat . . .

God help me, I hate double posts. Is there a way to delete posts?

I like this update, great new item to add to the game.

Even if additional non-nintendo characters don't make it into the game, I wonder how many/if any will make it as assist trophies =D

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Official Wii Sales Thread
« on: July 01, 2007, 07:12:42 PM »
You know as "weak" as the Wii may be in terms of graphical power compared to the other next gen systems, I will always marvel at games like Resident Evil 4. The game STILL looks gorgeous and that was made on the Gamecube. Look at Twilight Princess, another beautiful game but even that was made pushing the Gamecube.

So if Wii is a bit more powerful than a GC, and we can get games that look like that, I'm happy.

Sure it wont be as good as 360 or PS3 but hey graphics aren't everything and it's not like the graphics are ugly. Far from it, the games still can look beautiful.

Look back at the history of systems: was N64 more visually impressive than the PS? Sure, but as we all know graphics don't just win the market.

yeah I liked the way that battle ended and such too MarioAllStar, it wasn't really that part I had a problem with but the lack of any real follow up to the scene that killed it. It was so close to being an all around awesome end but it just fell short. It's still one of my favorite Zelda titles though =D

The only problem I had with Twilight Princess was the somewhat anti-climatic ending. Even the final battle sequences, though 'epic' in nature, didn't feel as epic as the final battle in OoT.

I dunno what it is about Zelda endings after OoT but they seem to just end on a really dull note. A Link to the Past still has the best ending out of all the Zelda games by far IMHO with OoT coming in second. TP was good but the ending was just ...boring. Though it was better than the bubble crap at the end of Wind Waker. It was like someone forgot to make an ending cinema or something.

On second thought, how important could the story be?

Girl: "Oh my! You think I am a witch sir? Please . . .  feel me up to confirm that I am not!"

and that about sums up the story =)

Well I was going to say because Sega makes some of the worst business decisions imaginable but 2K hasn't been owned by Sega for a while. ::shrugs:: So I have no clue why Wii is left out of the mix.

My DS lasts about 15+ hours without a recharge needed...

OMFG no way! Beautiful Katamari on Wii would be so for the win.

Please let this rumor be true.

Sorry if it seemed like I was bashing on the game, don't get me wrong it was a good game (and it was the reason I bought a DS) but it is unfair I guess to assume it could have the same magic as the original SMB games.

On a random side note, IceCold love the avatar. Swat Kats FTW =D

@IceCold: I've said it a lot in this thread and although I haven't played Wiiplay Duck Hunt, I can say the controls are VERY tight. I played through the main game once, done the separate ways and am playing through the main game again to buy the unlimited ammo weapons.

All in all the controls couldn't be better for this game =) it's a very very good purchase for 30 dollars, you wont regret buying it =)

I have to agree with Ceric on this one. While NSMB was a good game it doesn't hold a candle to the classics.

The biggest disappointment to me was the music and uninspired power ups. Not saying the game was bad but it doesn't really come close to re-capturing the magic that the original Super Mario Bros. titles had.

I'm completely convinced this game is the reason random online play does not exist in the DS version. It's the only reason I would want PBR, but I'll be damned if I am gonna pay 50 bucks for it.

The RE4 Wiimote SFX are EXTREMELY low volume wise. I noticed mine throughout the entire game but I really had to listen for it. If there is one thing I wish the wii had it's a better speaker for its controller =/.

"For me, the bad side is that I cannot feel in control. You struggle to get to position him and you struggle in trying to survive. No quick 180 degree turn, no strafe. Leon is clearly not a trained operative at all."

While you can't strafe there IS a 180 degree turn. Hit down on the joystick and then one of the back buttons on the nun-chuck and your character will turn around 180 degrees.

"Also, am I the only one who can play for 6 hours with no issues? I love the mote+chuck combo because I can rest my arms where ever I want which makes the game less physically demanding than even a GC controller would. "

No I played for 7 hours on the first day =), it's an absolute delight to play the game with the Wiimote. While everyone is entitled to their opinions the Cube controller is not as good as the Wiimote IMHO.

For the record, the controls aren't a gimmick they are a step above any shooting game using a traditional controller.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Contra 4
« on: June 28, 2007, 01:08:24 PM »
According to an extensive article by 1up.com the creators had this to say:

" "New Super Mario Bros. is a huge inspiration for us," Hulett explains. "Nintendo looked back and created a game that was based on the original Super Mario, not Mario 3 or Mario 64, and made a game that's feels like the original. That's exactly what we want to do here with Contra. We've gone back to Contra III for the controls, the weapon system, even the platforming, which is something that was lost in the later games..."

Perhaps this will signal a look back for many other franchises to their respective roots =D

The whole article can be read here (good read and things look very promising): http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3160665

Yeah, I've read that the Separate Ways mission with Ada in the PS2 version is practically like an entire game itself. That's what makes the Wii Edition worth it for me.

I agree especially since I never played the PS2 one (I didn't want the graphical downgrade).

Sorry to disagree, but some lame extras and a widescreen I wouldn't be able to use does not make a great port in my eyes, I want good games, and that means good controls, not crammed-in ones. I porbably wouldn't hate it, but its not worth the $30 they are asking.

The controls work extremely well in RE4: Wii Edition and is more than worth the $30 you pay for the game.

RE4: Wii Edition is the all around best version of the game I have played and I would qualify it as a great game. What's with all these complaints about the controls? They work great!
