Nintendo Gaming / Silent Hill Arcade, maybe Silent Hill Wii?
« on: August 01, 2007, 01:44:33 PM »
With the Silent Hill Arcade game just being released, what are the chances that we will see this ported to Wii?

Bring on the light gun games I say!

The new version will feature gameplay similar to the old version, but with added punches and kicks, as well as an 8-player Battle Royale deathmatch. There's no release date yet, but keep your eyes peeled for my trails of smoke, wafting toward my nearest videogame establishment.

I can't wait for this game to come out. I LOVED the game on the GBA, can't wait to try it on DS. (Online play please!!!)

Nintendo Gaming / Over 80% of Japanese Wii Owners use online features

Source: The-Magicbox.com

According to Nikkei Digital Media:

over 80% of Wii owners in Japan have used the Wii Shop Channel and News Channel, Weather Channel on their console.

That's a nice user base for Wii Connect features. I wonder how high the US % is.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo WON'T be at TGS 2007
« on: July 30, 2007, 10:57:27 PM »
http://kotaku.com/gaming/no-nintendo/tokyo-game-show-exhibitor-list-284208.php

That's just downright depressing.

Nintendo you better have a freaking Smash blow out at Leipzig (See: announce online gaming formally for the game).

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Well many of you may be correct in your assumptions that Nintendo will have some presence there.

Update: Nintendo at TGS Still a Possibility

Quote

Earlier we reported that Nintendo would not be attending the Tokyo Game Show 2007 in Japan based on the fact that it was absent from the official exhibitor list.

However, a spokesman for Nintendo told Gamespot that the possibility that Nintendo could be present at the Tokyo Game Show in some form still exists: "We've not announced our plans yet for TGS 2007. Although it is worth noting that we haven't taken part in many TGS events over the last few years--so were we not to be present it would not be unusual."

Viva Pinata DS announced
/clap?

Update: via Kotaku.com

. . . this is a total improvement on the 360 version. Rare are adding a sandbox mode, there'll be wi-fi swapping of pinatas, the journal and encyclopedia have been upgraded and it will feature even more pinatas than the original. Best of all, the stylus will allow you to directly control your pinatas, so (hopefully) no more sitting by helplessly as some bad guy strolls in and eats your entire family of sister-f****** worms.

At comic con it was revealed that the season premiere of Family Guy will be an hour long "airplane!" style spoof of the first Star Wars film. Robot Chicken star wars was awesome so I am sure this will be as well =). They also went on to reveal other plots coming up for the season (finally bonnie will give birth!).

Quote

Before audience questions began, the jam-packed room was treated to several clips of what's sure to become a classic episode. Entitled, "Blue Harvest," the season premiere will be an hour-long Airplane style spoof of the first Star Wars film, all with the permission of Lucasfilm. In the hilarious clips, we saw that Peter plays Han, Lois is Leia, Stewie is Darth Vader, Chris is Luke, Brian is Chewbacca and Quagmire and Cleveland are C3-PO and R2-D2 respectively. The scenes shown had the crowd roaring with laughter.

The panel then gave small glimpses of episodes being prepared for the upcoming season. Some of what we can expect included an episode where Brian starts to show his age and the Griffins get a new dog. Another episode has Peter believing he's a pirate and includes a five-minute scene of Peter attempting to pick something up. There will also be episodes where Bonnie gives birth, Peter discovers he's an illegal alien who was born in Mexico and Goldman accidentally travels back to Nazi Germany and must be rescued by Brian and Stewie. Yet another episode that has us excited involves three parodies of Stephen King films, including a Misery segment staring Brian and Stewie.

General Chat / The Simpsons Movie
« on: July 27, 2007, 06:10:48 PM »
So I just got back from the Simpsons movie. I went in not thinking it was going to be all that funny. I'll admit, I used to love the show but after a certain point the writers and stuff just made it not that funny.

Well let me tell you, I have never been so glad that I was wrong. Holy crap what a funny movie!

The dream team (of writers) is back and they made the Simpsons funny again. I honestly thought the Simpsons had run their course, that their days of hilarity was over but no, it was a non-stop laugh fest of a movie.

Well worth the admission price, I highly recommend it to anyone. Even my sister left the film saying "I never found the show funny but this was really good!".

So yeah go out and see it asap =)

I won't spoil anything but sit through some of the credits for a little something at the end

According to the latest rumors section of Electronic Gaming Monthly, Square-Enix will be bringing more remakes to Nintendo DS.

However, instead of bringing more Final Fantasy titles to the handheld, the company is switching focus to remaking games from the Dragon Quest series.

In this Japanese blog entry you will see two videos. The first is of the face training game (half way through it shows it on a Japanese news program.

The second . . . I have no clue what that 'game' is. It shows some cute asian girl working out to what is on screen (wiifit DS? lol) but then shows food . . . follows by doing something with money. It then goes on to ask questions.

No clue what that one is about.

I gotta give it to their ad team, that's pretty good, albeit perverted.

SDCC 07: Exclusive: Teen Titans Movie to Be "Real"
Scripter compares project to Batman Begins and Watchmen.

Quote

"It's not light and frothy," he says. "It's not silly. I want to play the characters so they feel real to us, not like people we can't understand. And I think Nightwing is a great character for that."

. . .

"I love the Perez-Wolfman stuff, so we're definitely looking at that, but I don't really want to get into who the team we're picking is yet," he says. "But I'm a huge fan of Marv Wolfman's work and I've talked to him about this a little bit. We're friends and if I can be true to his feeling that you get from those books, I'd be very happy."

Sounds interesting. I really got into the cartoon series when they started going actual story arcs so I look forward to what they turn out.

Some interesting tidbits from Caapcom's producer Keiji Inafune:

Quote

- Dead Rising 2 is not currently in development, but Inafune said he would gladly be the producer of the game
- With Wii's Virtual Console, he thinks it is easier to develop 2D games because they can be sold more economically than games on the shelves
- Capcom will announced new, original Virtual Console games sometimes this year

- There are no plans for sequels of Okami or Viewtiful Joe right now
- Capcom does not plan to port Okami to Wii like Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition

Could this usher in a new age of 2D gaming on consoles other than handhelds?

Don't know if it'll be as awesome as the 90's Spider-Man cartoon but it may be good.

Nintendo Gaming / Escape from Bug Island in stores today!
« on: July 25, 2007, 04:46:57 AM »
This struck me as funny. Upon going to IGN.com the site is plastered with ads for this game "Escape from Bug Island" which, evidently, is in stores today (July 25).

Has anyone else even heard of this game? Kinda flew under the radar for me.

The most hilarious thing is the tag-line for the game "The creepiest survival horror game on the Nintendo Wii". Which is evidently a trademarked phrase.

This is just pure awesome.

Why don't they come out with this for Americans who want to learn Japanese!

Although . . . the english in the game is pretty bad.

The arrangement only covers versions of those games for personal computers and Microsoft's Xbox 360, two platforms that have a high proportion of users connected to the Internet.

. . .

"We would love to do Nintendo and PlayStation, but they control the platform, they control the ecosystem and they have to decide what to allow or not. It's not something that's in our control," Van Arsdale said.

Yay for them only being on MS consoles.

Ohhhh! SOMETHING is coming at the end of september for Wii Connect 24!

Not only that, but look to the end of the interview:

Interviewer: Maybe one day I'll play against you from you in Seattle and me in LA, head to head online.

Reggie: Absolutely. Maybe a game coming soon. *Massive smile on Reggie's face*

Interviewer: Like..?

Reggie: *smiling makes a semi-shruging gesture*

Interviewer: Not for this year right?

Reggie: *smiling still and semi-shrugs again* We'll talk about that next time.

Interviewer: There could be something coming this year? Maybe Super Smash Brothers?

Reggie: You never know.

Interviewer: Thats online right.

Reggie: *head tilted with a big smile*

Interviewer: There's that knowing smile.

Reggie also owns the interviewer in the Wii Fit soccer game.

I did look on Gamefly for it and it WAS up but now it is seemingly down (a link on nintendojo.com which linked to the actual page no longer works and shoots you back to the main page).

The box art is pretty convincing and as was stated in various articles regarding this, Gamefly is usually spot on when it comes to this stuff.
