I hope the "A Giant Calculating Brain Decides To Rule The World!" part doesn't happen.

I mean, if you look at how the world's being run right now, maybe it's worth a shot.

I was still on an iPhone X, so I was pretty set on getting one this year. Never cared much about the colors and I've got a thousand of those little power adapter blocks.

And after trying and trying to get an Xbox Series X preorder and coming up short, I got my iPhone 12 Pro preordered quickly and painlessly. Yet again, Apple > Microsoft.

Khush secretly being Homer Simpson this whole time makes a ton of sense if you think about it.

Let’s go with Bugsnax.

For the life of me, I don't understand why Nintendo never coded the save system to record the number of Lives you had in stock. It makes collecting 1ups pointless since you'll just lose them the moment you turn the game off. Nintendo had to have realized that was a mistake, because they fixed that in Sunshine and Galaxy.

Super Mario World did it the same way as 64, and I'd say it's more of a problem in that game since you can't just save anywhere at any time.

Of course you didn't see them, they're in isolation. It's the name of the game.

284
Yeah, but if you get hit you lose it, which can be pretty annoying in certain situations. They should have just let you switch between them at any time when you're in the castle.

285
I've spent significant time with the DS version on both 3DS and Wii U, and while it definitely controls better, it's still not great compared to the real thing. I enjoyed the extra stars, but the character switching was pretty clunky at times. Having to go back to Peach's room anytime you wanted to switch got really annoying.

286
I haven’t had any real problems with Galaxy in handheld mode. Certain stars can be a little clunky, particularly when they make significant use of the pull stars, but normally it’s just a quick swipe over with my thumb and it works fine. I guess if you’re using the Hori thing it’d be tougher to reach over because of the size of those.

My watch got here today, and my first impression is I'm surprised by how much bigger the screen seems. In one of the last few models they moved from 38 mm and 42 mm to 40 mm and 44 mm, with the body staying the same size but the screen covering more of the face with less of a bezel. 2 mm doesn't seem like a lot, but it feels like a big jump.

288
I haven't started Sunshine yet, but I'm loving 64 and Galaxy. This is probably the best way to play 64, and I'm really liking having the spin mapped to a button in Galaxy.

No one, not even Khush, is going to stop me from finishing second in Safe Words again! I'm in!

I also have more than 200 games on Switch, and it can be a hassle at times, but I don't think folders would really change that for me. The way I used them on 3DS and Wii U was mostly separating out Virtual Console platforms, which is not an issue on Switch.

291
I'm pretty sure it was Super Mario Bros. 3 for me. My first gaming most likely would have been on my aunt's NES, and I have tons of memories of Mario 3 at her house. She was a huge Zelda fan, she managed to beat the original game without a guide, and I used to look at the maps she made herself on paper.

292
I think that for huge series like The Elder Scrolls and Doom, they will still release on PS5. They will want to get as many sales as possible.

It would increase game sales, but having Elder Scrolls VI as an exclusive is the kind of thing that could move hardware.

The Browns came into the season under new coach Kevin Stefanski with a promise of an offense built around a strong running game that sets up play-action passing, and at least for one night, that's exactly what we got. The real stars of the night were Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, who combined for over 200 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns, but the lasting storyline might be the fact that for once Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham seemed to be in sync, connecting on a number of passes including a 43 yard touchdown. Now let's see if we can do that against somebody better than the Bengals.

I use Apple Music, which I like a lot. I've bounced between several different music streaming services over the years, but I think I like Apple Music best, especially with how well it integrates with Apple devices.

TalkBack / MO: Astray (Switch) Review
« on: September 17, 2020, 12:00:53 PM »

Shoot from wall to wall in this Switch eShop platformer.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/review/54962/mo-astray-switch-review

In its first impression, MO: Astray seems like a lot of other indie games. First released on Steam last year, it’s a 2D platformer with a dark aesthetic and a mysterious backstory. It stands out from that crowded field, though, with a unique hook that it keeps finding new ways to employ along the way.

In MO: Astray you control a blue blob, a product of a mysterious experiment the game reveals more about as it goes on. The blob can slowly walk but primarily moves by shooting itself off in one direction, which you can aim with the right stick. You stick to surfaces, so traversing the environment often involves jumping onto walls and ceilings to get where you want to go bit by bit. The dark, cavernous landscapes that make up most of the level design look very nice in contrast with the brightness of your blob, but do occasionally make it hard to see platforms.

Once you’re used to the basic movement, things get more and more complicated. The first big change is a double jump, allowing you to stop in mid-air briefly and shoot off in a different direction. This allows you conveniences like climbing up walls, but also results in the level design requiring greater precision. The pure platforming is also broken up with environmental puzzles, requiring you to hit switches and move blocks to advance to new sections.

One of the more interesting mechanics introduced along the way is the ability to possess enemies by flinging yourself onto their heads. This can be required to solve puzzles and move across hazardous areas, in addition to completing combat scenarios. There are also areas where you have to switch between two separate blobs to navigate an area.

While some of the platforming challenges and puzzles can be difficult, MO: Astray offers very frequent checkpoints, which minimizes frustration. Just about any time you clear a puzzle or get past a platforming challenge, and even sometimes mid-boss battle, your progress is saved. You can also increase your available health by finding collectibles that give you bits of lore about the world, though most deaths you’ll encounter, via falling in pits or hitting spikes, are immediate no matter how much health you have available.

MO: Astray has a clear, creative premise, and its ability to stay fresh by introducing new ideas every time you think you’ve mastered it keeps it compelling the whole way through. On an eShop full of platformers, this is one of the better examples to come along in quite a while.

I’m having the same issue with mine. It says it’s full even though the apps only seem to be taking up a small amount of space. I’d do the reset but I figure I can just hold out a couple weeks and get the update with the new hardware.

I just ordered an Apple Watch Series 6 after the event today, although I should have done it earlier in the day because it's not scheduled to arrive until the 30th. I'm currently using a Series 3, so this should be a big upgrade for me. I'm definitely looking forward to the always-on display they introduced in last year's model.

298
Even if they're going to continue with the model of adding one system per year, it'll take them a while to get to the Wii.

299
I booted up my ancient Harvest Moon SNES Wii Virtual Console titel to find I had a save in Winter of, well I'm not sure what year but I'm married, no kids, farm looks huge. Stumbled around and found a power berry somehow. How long is this game again? I feel I should pickup from here and get through to the end.

I don't think there's a real ending. Most games in the series can go on forever if you want them to, you just run out of milestones.

Galaxy 2 is my favorite 3D Mario game, but as someone who's likely to play this collection entirely in handheld mode I can live without it considering how cumbersome the heavy pointer use in that game would be under those circumstances. It would have been nice to at least let us try, though.
