Kick ass.

I know double-posting is bad for the environment, but I just want to ask that no one tells Kotaku that Nintendo's press conference is Tuesday, and not Monday, like they keep saying.  It'll be more fun to have them sitting there alone in the NOKIA theater.  I'll be there for that Video Games Live thing, so if I see anyone from Kotaku there on accident, I'll be sure to snap a pic.

Mixing armor works best when you've fully figured out how armor abilities work, and want to manipulate your gear for specific abilities.  There's a few examples of good mixes on the monster hunter wiki (just google those words to find it,) but generally, without a lot of planning, it doesn't work out.

A couple bigger things.  On Saturday, a bunch of us are meeting up at Nick and Chessa's place for a long PlayBit of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, as well as hacked-in versions of classic SMB stages, and general hacked stages, time permitting.  Sunday, five of the people involved with the playbit will get on a plane and arrive in LA, and from there, hopefully we'll have a lot of coverage.  Little things start up Monday, like a small press event about the Video Games Live concert series, and other general stuff.

We'll all be in Nintendo's press conference, watching live, which is why I'm thinking twitter, and after that, my next scheduled thing involves Rock Band 3.  We haven't scheduled many specific booth tours or anything, but that's because apparently a booth tour, alone, means very little.  We'll be bringing a few cameras, video cameras, and voice-recording devices, but we're only planning to record stuff when we have explicit permission.

Anyway, the main point is that Saturday is going to be our big Pre-E3 (I like to call it PrE3) day, complete with skyping and a chat box, so I'd recommend keeping an eye on the site to watch the event and let us know anything you'd be particularly interested in knowing about.

If you want to make someone overpowered with stuff you've earned, why not?  It's not like he wouldn't still have to grind up the HR to play later missions.  Additionally, it would just be nice to allow some sort of equivalent-level-of-rarity trading possible, which would restrict what you're talking about, but wouldn't force a grind on absolutely every little piece of gear at high rank.

Where is everyone meeting up?

I'll probably try to tweet stuff. I should set up tweeting from my phone. I'm not a twitterer, really, but I don't know a better, but simple way to do things. I doubt I'll be able to get a solid internet connection there.

I've almost beaten it, and I've got to say that I really enjoyed it.  I dreaded doing CT scans (can you find the blue or white blob in this sea of white and blue blobs?), but other than that I have to give it to Atlus for making an all around entertaining game.  I even enjoyed endoscopy, even if it was my least favorite specialty.

The story made me roll my eyes several times though, although I only wanted to vomit when Tomoe was around.

The scans you had to compare would have felt a lot easier if, when you switch from the image to the sample image, there was no loading delay.  Then you'd be able to spot the difference a lot easier, because your eye would catch the changes.

In my review, I said Orthopedics felt kind of like a single-player super version of Operation.  It was definitely my favorite.

It's a 2 hour presentation, so Nintendo should show what Retro is working on.
You sure this is accurate? They've knocked everything out in an hour the last couple of years. (And a full third of both have been embarrassing at best for all involved, but we won't talk about that...)
An extra hour?

Finally, a whole hour dedicated to sales data and pie charts, just as I prayed for.

It's going to be a 2 hour presentation, or so I heard from IGN's NVC podcast (#77 I think).
It makes sense because they've got to cover the 3DS's software line-up, price, capabilities, and that should take at most an hour. Not to mention they have to do some kind of presentation with the Vitality Sensor. Also the Wii, and DS software line-ups for the second half of the year following into next year. If they do show the new Zelda they will most likely also have a presentation for it to show how its played.

You can't seriously believe they'll spend lots of time on real games.  Ever since Nintendo changed the industry, E3 has always been about the latest casual non-game gimmicks, which is exactly what Nintendo will emphasize, along with sales data.  The 2004-2005 golden years of the company are long gone.

Don't forget that over the past four or five years, the fundamentals of E3 have been radically altered a few times.

I think it's good news, overall.  From what I've seen, those would've really stopped all of the game's momentum mid-playthrough.  I'd rather see them remove bad content, rather than keep it.

Keep in mind, this is DIMPS that the source in that article is referring to.  I stand by my statement that the people at DIMPS don't know any more about the classic Sonic formula than anyone else developing Sonic titles, except that the original games were 2D.  Reading that link, it seems like the source really felt like the developers haven't been able to capture the feel of classic Sonic yet.

That Diablos really tossed us about. :P

I seem to be getting more irritated at the fights than I used to. Gigginox seems to cheat and other monsters I recall not having too much trouble with are giving me a lot of grief now. Though it may be because I'm playing with different people.

It's not.

I'd give it three hearty pails of sand and a moat, personally.

That said, I've never played the game.  I find sandboxes are more fun than sandbox games for me.

Really?  I can definitely see how the setting could create and incredible experience, depending on how it was done.

Still not gonna touch it.

I never found it challenging at all.  This isn't the first time it's been available.  All you have to do is bring a little bit of goldenfish bait (which isn't even necessary,) and then kill a Gobul.  When it comes to fishing him out, you use a Frog, which is actually available in area 2, close to its exit to area 4.  Worms are also available there.

Just have someone fish Gobul out right away, before anyone starts doing any fighting, and when he finally leaves the area, have two people fish for Goldenfish.  Take the Goldenfish back, pick up the bait to replace what you used doing the quest, and go where the other people are fighting Gobul.

I can't remember if you need small goldenfish for the quest, though, but whenever I ever needed any, I just brought them with me.  This isn't a quest where you get any exclusive items, so there's no reason to spend much time bothering with it unless you want to just have an extra quest option.

She hadn't gotten to Yoshi yet?  I was stuck at two stars for like a half a week, and I'd even gotten Yoshi.

I'm up to nine now.  That's progress!

OOoh, speaking of fun, Chris, my roommate, and I will be traveling to Nick and Chessa's house the day before we fly to LA for E3 for a New Super Mario Bros. PlayBit. (That's the thing where we play a game live for several hours one day.)  Aside from general E3 prep, I did finish my Trauma Team review the other day, and have taken a step in finding out how to patch in new stages for NSMBWii to do a feature on the site.

The hubbub begins June 14 with a Microsoft Natal party thing, but it officially begins June 16.  Most major press conferences are June 15.

I'd say my opinions, predictions, and all that jazz here, but we're working on a big E3 prediction feature at PixlBit, so I'm saving a lot of my ideas, even the crazy, for that, so I'll just make one guess for each of the numbers:

1: PSP2 will be a PSP with two sticks, better graphics, and a touchscreen, but nothing really new or innovative beyond what the PSP already does.

2: A new Smash Bros, with the promise of balance and downloadable gameplay/character tweaks.  2D Metroid with, unbelievable multiplayer functionality that fits the Metroid series perfectly some how.

3: Natal being an innovative, easy to use success.  Kid Icarus anything.

Yeah, there was a one-guess per day rule for the team.

Didn't you just say that Mop it up got it right on her second guess of the day?

Like stevey points out, she guessed twice, but they were in two separate days.  The first was the day before the day she won.

I hear Mop it up's been really hungry lately.
